Just a few questions..

I had very high hopes, and still do for MO. I've been searching for that old UO style sandbox play again since 1999. I'm hoping MO will deliver it eventually. Anyhow, I purchased MO quite a while back, perhaps a year ago. Once the game wen't live I was, unfortunatly, unable to play it or continue a monthly subscription due to personal/family/money problems. Now, I'm back on my feet and the family is squared away and interested in possibly trying it out. I did play beta for a bit here and there but never got into it much due to reasons mentioned before. If I reactivate my account will there be a monthly sub and how much? 14.99? Also, I loved the old 'fear' of UO back in the day before ANY expansions. I wasn't much into pvp but the fear of running for your life or trying to out smart them was stuff of legends. Has MO turned into mostly a pk fest or is there actual people who do more than run around like 12 year olds playing WoW on a pvp server? I admit, I could probably get this information that I'm asking by searching quite a bit, but looking at the forums, and being fairly drunk before having to go to sleep before waking up to go to work.. this just seems easier, as I can check it once I wake up. Any information you can give would be greatly appreciated. This is not one of those numerous spams nor a trolling attempt.. as I know a lot of idiots seem to think that everything is a trolling instance. Hopefully, MO will be my long lost UO recreated, as the actual game now is a far cry from what it used to be. *raises beer to the memories* Hope to hear from you soon and perhaps join you in game soon.

To try to answer some of your questions:

To start, the game is rough around the edges.  It has bugs, and the server is not 100% stable yet.  It is also mostly the core of the game right now, so more "content" is needed before you could consider it a full-fledged game like UO.  Oh, and the UI is ugly (though this will probably be upgraded very soon).

Beyond that, I believe that the core of the game is set toward the vision of providing a very UO-like experience.  One character can't be everything, so they are more distinctive and diverse, and there are a good amount of choices available which will expand further with time.  Though PvP is an important part of the game, it isn't planned to be the whole game: I believe SV is trying to create more of a virtual world RPG than just a simple PvP game.

Speaking of PvP, it can certainly be dangerous out in the world, but in my opinion, it is not anywhere near being a complete gankfest.  From what I've seen in-game so far, there are a lot of decent players and people out in the game world.  I've not been summarily attacked by everyone I've encountered, and have instead been pleasantly surprised by a lot more good will and cooperation than I was initially expecting.  Of course, every game has its jerks, and MO is no exception, but the community is pretty good overall - a lot better than some other similar games.

It's a fledgling economy right now, but the model is set - if they can keep it balanced, it will likely be a fairly sophisticated economy, with may different parts that characters can involve themselves in.

There's no map or mini-map, so you can see what you see.  Of course, there are maps online that will give you an idea, but exploring, and learning the lay of the land, is actually important (and can be pretty exciting).

There are keeps and housing in the game, which is non-instanced and useful.  Again, as the game grows, building types and uses will be expanded.

There are quite a few other posts on this board, and on the official one, that could probably give you more information than I have here.

    I hope this helps.

Just to clarify, I am a current active subscriber. image

But I do agree in principle - there are people posting here who've never actually played the released version of the game.

Consideration of the source of information is always sage advice.  What I've written does come from the perspective of an actual player, but it's just that - my perspective, my opinion - so it can't be taken as anything more than that.  Reading the official board will give you more opinions from actual players.

I am also a current active subscriber.  I can tell you that Mortal Online is the closest you'll get to that pretrammel UO feeling.  There's danage and adventure around every corner.  It's full loot full pvp.  You can even die in so called "blue" towns.  Your always on your toes.  I admit that it's a bit of a steep learning curve, but if you can climb it the game will bring you countless hours of entertainment.
