This game is still terrible, stay away. This is coming from someone who got burned by AION and has his sub payed for until January, I'm angry at myself but I fucking hate NCsoft and I hate AION. Fuck this company and this game is a POS. I have no choihce but to play it because I have it payed for until January 17, 2011 and I'm not going to let my money go to waste. I will however, warn everyone about it and tell them to stay away. If I could get a refund, I would. 2.0 will not fix anything, especially with the shit-storm the mergers caused, 4/5 servers are Elyos dominated because the Koreans made that faction easier to level than the Asmodians. They also didn't have any problems with the Elyos dominating 12/14 servers in NA prior to the server mergers but when 1/5 servers is Asmodian dominated post merge they decide that there is a problem with server balance. The faction favoritism is beyond disgusting.
It's not the grinding that's the problem. It's the constant lack of motivation to grind when, everytime you step outside the fortress gates, you are annihlated by gankers. Aion had a lot of potential, but turned into one big gank fest.
The problem with Aion now is the major server imbalance they caused with server merges and free transfers. Now 4/5 servers are heavy heavy Elyos and 1/5 is heavy Asmo. I find it funny that they caused this mess 1 month before this expansion
Okay a bit of an outrageous statement but both are PvP oriented games and the purpose of PvP is to kill the other player and as it has been stated when there is little to stop a more powerful player from killing a lower one it gets done. A lot.
I got a couple of my toons up in to the 40s and while on one hand constantly keeping an eye out for people wanting to kill me added to the challenge of the game at other times it just got too much and I would log and do something else. Eventually, I just stopped logging back on. I liked the game and most of the people and the game is certainly not a horrible game but it does cater to a specific subset of players and I'm just not one of those.
I didn't mind the "grind".The problem for me was once I got full Fenris then made alts and got complete lvl 30 Daevonian (weapons and all) I was bored out of my mind.
Pretty much everyone I have known and played with has left this game. My friends list was maxed out and now like 1 or 2 people are ever on it anymore. Nobody does DP or instances they just sit around the fort in Prim or in the Abyss. It could be partially because I rolled Asmodian and we are so outnumbered especially after the merges.
While I still pay for Aion atm, I have no interest in logging in nor does 2.0 make me in the least bit excited to play. I haven't logged in to really play in the last 3 months and I should probably cancel my sub since I am paying for nothing atm.
The game is gorgeous. I love the graphics of the environment and armor and the character creation was amazing to be able to customize your character but it is not enough just to have a lot of eye candy without substance.

Its the faction. I played asmo my first 6 months and had the same issues but Ive played elyos for the last 3-4 months and there are plently of groups. Its night and day TBH.
What?? Americans are still enjoying this "by the book" asian grinder??? I thought the american mmo taste buds of P2P were too good for grindfests like this?
This is a pretty good game if they didn't bann everybody for anything. Wish I could play Assault On Balaur , but unfortunately I was banned for having too much kinah.
I can’t stand botters or those who support them, but I love to listen to them QQ after getting banned.
Thanks bro, you made my day.
BTW, NCsoft needs to be more aggressive about banning botters, not less.
Actually your an idiot and i support this guy. I know a ton of people that have been banned for doing nothing. Not for botting, buying kinah or anything. For the most part NCSoft does do a good job preventing gold transactions and RMT...but there have been A LOT of people banned for doing nothing wrong and that is just unacceptable, especially in a game that requires this much dedication and time. A quick cruise around the aion forums will show a multitude of extreme cases of people being banned. One such example is logging into your account page at work instead of your home. It almost even happened to me. I had to fight tooth and nail to get my damn account back because they were so convinced that I had either sold my account or that it had been hacked. Sorry NCSoft but your way to ban happy.
Well it won't really end up closing in NA, mainly because the korean release is still raking in the cash. If Lineage 1 can be any evidence NCsoft won't close it, a game can be almost completely dead and still be running because of it's popularity in korea.
Not only that, but the stories I have heard about some of the higher level quests where people spend millions of kinah to get rare mats to craft an item for the quest and then fail like 6 times in a row (and you lose your mats) just sounds like NCSoft is trying to punish you for playing their game. Apparently the asians believe you aren't having fun unless you are screaming and throwing your keyboard in frustration.
While I enjoyed my time up to 31, everything I read makes me feel like from here on out it just gets more and more painful.
I believe I will see what else is out there.
man be sure about that i lost all hopes on this RNG fucken lucky game its annoying to spent al my kinah 6million to fail 6 HP+85 manastones on my abyss L40 pants(even with those useless expensive suplements), thats not fun and im not whining, its terribad design for a game full of lucky % on everystuff you do and i hate lucky games, i cancel my sub and after 1 week im feeling much better and cool. that game turns you old, and really unhappy and its in no way fun its even worse than WoW.
This game had so much potential and ended up total fail, they have already condensed all the servers down becuase of fail , and all this expansion does is expand it to 55 horrible levels of fail. keep up the good work NCSoft.
Maybe next time you'll listen to your playerbase before you cut your wrist.
*sigh* You all sound like a bunch of spoiled children. Just because someething doesn't suit your tastes doesn't make it terrible. I didn't like EvE, but I recognize that it's a fanastic game in its own right (and has amazing social dynamics), but not my cup of tea.
The grind argument is baseless and old. Granted, there does need to be more group content 35+, but in terms of grind, the game isn't any worse than classic WoW.
Indeed.
"We got rid of the trinity." How'd you do that? "Now everyone can heal." Sounds like you just took the mechanic and spread it thin. "Well no, there's one class that can do it better than others." I see, so they're healers. "No. They're.." -mind asplode-
I came from the games like Silkroad and FFXI, thus my understanding of what grind is is very different. I have played other F2P MMO like Rappelz, but if I would define what grind is, it's as simple as the lack of quests.
If you find your quest log lacking quests, then you have no other choice but to grind those needed EXP.
Aion has plenty of quests, often too much that sometimes I am already too high level for it. On top of that, I have not played a game that grant EXP while you're crafting. Which other games makes you feel that you're losing out in progression when trying to level up your crafting skills.
My most recent MMO sub is WoW, but the details and massive overhaul of the game come Cataclysm makes me uneasy that it might end up like SWG. I don't know, but so far the changes they are making in their talent system made me cancel my subscription.
So I recently reactivate my Aion and found that the game had improved the last time I played it.
As for questing in PvP areas, no difference from games with PvP mode. Part of the challenge in Aion is getting pass the obstacle of zone campers.
Yeah, Aion does not lack in quests, the problem with Aion is actually doing them, you spend most of your time taking dirtnaps because some higher level has ganked you which translates to a huge grind just trying to do the quests.
LOL,if you want an easy game,go back to wow,AION IS NOT A GRIND,you havent grinded IN YOUR LIFE.
yes because hittin the same basic mob over and over again is AWESOME
i forgot how pubescent kids could be....
let me show the stupidity in your analogy:
i laught when ppl say (running a marathon is tiring)
LOL, if you want an easy run, go back to cross-country, running a MARATHON IS NOT TIRING.
you want something tiring? run iron man, or across america.
Kid,listen.
Aion is an easy game, you can be top lvl in 1 month playing 4-5 hours per day.
You never grind, because you always have 15-20 quests to do.
If you really think the "grind" in Aion is difficult,i recommend you to stop playing mmorpgs.
You people complain about lack of challenge and innovation in mmorpgs? blame dudes like this guy, that want everything easy and fast,NOW NOW OR IT'S A FAIL.
For some reason I don't see "time spent" as a gauge of challenge / enjoyment in a game. Grinding in no way has to be a fact of life in mmos, nor, in my opinion, should it be. If I'm going to go through the same motions over and over again for hours at a time, I'll go paint the house, or mow the lawn or any number of other menial tasks I have to do.

I laugh when ppl say Aion is a grind.

please laugh at me, its a grind and i think its a grind, and no i dont play WoW...
Lineage 2 is a grind,Silkroad is a grind.
Aion is a wow clone,a bit more difficult, but still an EZ game.
Aion is Eve Online with wings.

You couldn't pay me to reinstall this POS game.
crafting - sucks
dungeon droprate - sucks
PVP - ground sucks for melee, air sucks for melee more, roll ranged to win
This game is a textbook example of one great big NGE
Negative Gaming Experience - its what listening to beta testers and forum activity helps you avoid.
This expansion won't save Aion.
I want to reborn as a Sylvari.

so aion cant doing, they need made feedback or died
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
yes because hittin the same basic mob over and over again is AWESOME
