10 levels of fun

Lord.BachusLord.Bachus Member RarePosts: 9,686

After 10 levels i didn't find anything yet that i needed to pay for.... (except that i do have only 1 character slot, and can't play 2 classes)...  But till now all content has been freely available.

The game is still fun to play but its age is starting to show, character annimations can't compete with some of the newer games.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

You dont really need to spend any money untill around level 25 when there is no more quests for you. Then you are stuck with grinding or do Great barrows/Skirmishes, Lone lands quest costs 600 tp now which will take you to ca lvl 32.

Character animations have always been pretty bad in LotrO, they are hit ot miss imo, Im gussing its to expensive to update them.

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

If your all about graphics and animations, I suggest you get the 8800 GT card, it runs beautiful and the detail of these objects and ect are unbelievable,  high detail on alot of stuff, can even see details on maps and books.

This is a singlecore game, one of the last ones made on the single core processor.  You can run this thing on ULTRA HIGH  with 2.4 ghz, 8800 GT card (dont let the others in the 8 series fool you, they are not the same), and 3 gig of ram.

if you go to nvidia you can see the comparasion charts on cards and look for the Texture fill rates on them.  the 8800 GT is pretty much the best buy of them all, for a few extra dollars your getting huge 33.6 billion/sec texure fill rate.

Once you reach level 20-25 you'll be in the Lone Lands and all the quest givers will have "Unlock" buttons instead of "Accept" buttons for the quests. So you'll click that button, the store will open, and it will ask you for 600 Turbine Points (~$6)  to unlock the Lone Lands quest pack.

F2P LOTRO is simply a free trial with no time limit.

OP your speaking of beta right? When is this due to go live?

Yes, it is a pain in the butt to pay and pay and pay for everything but it is nice that you can pay for what you need, play a while and take a break and not worry about being billed again!

Okay i was wrong,  after level 10 the game is a huge money pit, everything has this coin on it that takes you to the shop to unlock, ride horses (coin) trasportation (coin) even to gain acces to most virtues you need to pay... extra bags just pay .

Seems the good old P2P would be a much cheeper opton for me,  spend  over 100 dollar on DDO in less then 2 months... and then i quit.

Its only a money pit if you make it one. You DO NOT have do buy any of the extras at that level. You just simply have the option to make it easier on yourself.
