About preorder CE and 8 day headstart.

Will the preorder locations be shipping out the collectors edition early?  I don't see how we could get into the game early without a key of some sort and the game installation files.

On top of that, places like amazon are notorious for being late on preorders.  I'm just wondering if anyone can clear up the details before I consider preordering as the 8 days early is my main motivation, the other stuff is pretty cool too though.

I pre-ordered my copy from game and the delivery date is the 22nd

My point is that the release day IS the 22nd.  So to play the game 8 days early I would need it on the 14th.  My question is in regards to preordering CE, the 8 days prior service, and having the ability to play it ( getting the discs or something online, and the reg key).

general release date is the 30th, 22nd is the 8 day head start

Yes. The CE will come out the 22nd. The standard edition doesn't release until the 30th.  You cannot play the retail game earlier than the 22nd.  The headstart period is between the 22nd and the 30th.

Sorry, I know you are frustrated.  It's justs ometimes these companies and the distributors are hard to find out what's really going on.  Thank you though, it's very clear to me now.

I personally wouldn't make the decision to purchase CE based on the early start date.  The only people who will notice a difference after a month or two are the super-hardcore.  (Unless that's you, in that case I apologize for my bad advice.)

I'm wondering if the buddy pass will work as soon as you get the CE. I'm getting mine on the 23rd unfortunately, I'll just have to sleep the entire 22nd or something, but my friend is getting pretty interested in the game. I already told him he'd have my pass to try it out but it'd be nice if he could play as soon as I could. I'm guessing no one has heard anything about this though? I don't even think we know how long the pass is good for. I'm hoping like 2 weeks at minimum.

In FF11 the buddy pass was for 10 days I believe

I've been using Amazon for years and never had a pre-order not ship on release day. And since they have offered release day delivery on popular titles (including FFXIV) that has not failed me either.

If you pick free shipping with them they will sit on the order before shipping it, but if you are a "Prime" member or pay for faster shipping it goes out when it should in my experience...

In my experience, Amazon has been very good as far as releases and shipping.

Ditto, have been using Amazon for years for new MMO releases and have always gotten every one on release day.  Sure I could use Gamestop or Best Buy or Target and other places, but I don't like to go out often and rather have it come to me...hehe

Absolutely never happens and I've ordered 30-40 games from them since last august, all pre-orders(yes, really). Every single one shipped the day before release and got here fine, never canceled, never late, never back ordered.
