Got the email yesterday and deleted it a second later.

Nothing what they do will ever get me back. Not unless they sell the IP to a different studio (wich actually has some decency, morals and corporate ethics) and rebuild the game from scratch.

Testing it right now again and enjoying it. Too many new things in those last months! Gonna take a look at that diplomatic system :)

Woot, welcome back weekend makes it sound like lotro.  Lol they got no subs, and they hope folks want to come back.

No thanks rofl, yes and I deleted the email too the miniute I got it.  I dont have it installed on my computer any more and Im not taking the time to install and download patches, just so i can run a pos game.

I'd play SWG again, before STO. LOL!

When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!

More like, Please Come back! weekend.  Rofl.  I agree with JeroKane.  Only way I would play this again is if it was rebuilt OR....and this is a BIG IF, it went FTP but even then I probably would only play it for a day until I remembered how boring it was.

You wrote what I wanted to post. the "Welcome back" is way too soon. I skipped STO completelty for SW:TOR, and I'm glad I did :p

Welcome Back? Why, did it leave or something?

  • eddieg50eddieg50 Member UncommonPosts: 1,809

I played a bit at the beginning and am just starting to play again and have to say I am enjoying it.  I guess i am tired of elves and trolls and such , wack 10 pigs with your sword and drop off the meat to Big pig yuch, those games are a dime a dozen and STO is offering something quite new,  I plan to play about 5 to 10 hours a week which is the most i can stomach in an mmo but so far , very good

So does this allow closed beta players to participate? If not then looks like I'm not playing. I don't pay for garbage.

So you won't pay for garbage but you'll play free garbage?  (rolls eyes)

It's funny because i always look in every Star Trek Online thread  just to see if the community's feelings might change but i guess not, this must be killing there PR. What sucks the most is that i wouldnt consider myself a trekky because i only really like next genration & deep space nine, those two shows alone keep me coming back and hoping that this mmo improves to the point where i might just throw cryptic some dough (Crossing my fingers for season 3)

    10.8.6

    (August 04, 2010)

To celebrate Season 2's release, we're holding another Welcome Back Weekend!

From wednesday, August 4 at 11:59p.m. Pacific until Monday, August 9, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific, anyone who has purchased Star Trek Online can play unrestricted. For more informataion, check out our Welcome Back Weekend FAQ on the forums.

AND TO SHOW YOU HOW THEY STICKIT TO THE USERS

    Scheduled Maintenance

We will bring down Star Trek Online Saturday, August 7th from 3AM pdt to 5AM pdt (10AM to 12PM utc), in order to perform maintenance. We will update this thread once this maintenance has been completed. Thankyou, The Star Trek Online Team.

Only a two hour shutdown in the middle of the ftp for previous subscribers (they force account error blocking access to the server untill one enters their retail key), but they can not keep it running five days without shuting it down for repairs, six months into retail (Feb 2010)...

trying to redownload it this AM, it started out 200 to 400KB/s for about thirty min, then since then it has been pidling at 20 to 60KB/s for the last TWELVE hours, only about 58% downloaded.

It should patch to +7.7GB, based on saved copies of the Season 1 retail client.

You know things are bad when they have their second welcome back weekend after only 6 months.

Hmm, you should really check out Voyager and Enterprise, ( if you haven't already :p ) I really liked those, and I also liked TNG and DS9.

Seriously? Those series sucked, they were beyond horrible.

Not a big fan of DS9 and Enterprise I dont care for at all. But I like Voyager every bit as well as TNG. We own complete seasons of them as well as TOS.  But more on topic. I didint get a welcome back invite from Cryptic. Maybe because I cancelled my sub before my free 30 days was up?

WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.

You gotta rewatch DS9 dude, it is a masterpiece, hands down the very best Star Trek series.
