A few questions

ShariShari Member UncommonPosts: 746

Ok I just want to ask a few questions about ddo:

1.Is the game good for casual players?

2. How does the group system work, is there a group auto queue or do you ask in the chat for a group?

3. Can the EU play on the ftp servers?

4. Is it hard to get in a group or can you group up quickly?

Thats about it for now, thnx for any info:)

1.Is the game good for casual players? - Very much so.  Run a dungeon or two, put it down, come back a month later and do a few more.  Makes for a great secondary game.

    2. How does the group system work, is there a group auto queue or do you ask in the chat for a group? - No auto queue.  There's a hot button that opens up the social panel, think of it as 'Want Ads' for groups doing certain quests.  Group leader posts he's running X, slow, zerg, for favor etc.... and needs X professions.  If you see one you need / want you send 'em a tell and ask for an invite.

    3. Can the EU play on the ftp servers? - As long as you download the US version of the game.  The EU version won't allow you to play on US servers, will only show the EU one's.

    4. Is it hard to get in a group or can you group up quickly? - I'd say fairly quickly.  Kind of depends on the quest you want.  Some are more popular than others.

     Hope those help.

Thnx for all the info :)

I read somewhere that the Codemasters EU server's where closing down and EU players will use turbines servers. My question is will turbine open new EU servers or will the EU players just use the servers that are open now (the US servers)?

If I remember how it went; Codemasters leased DDO from Turbine to run in the EU and either they lost the lease or just didn't renew.

I would have to guess any EU servers would belong to Codemasters.  Beyond that ......  You should probably go to the O-board and pull an e-mail addy to send your questions directly to the source.

I did a quick look at the O-board and didn't see anything that jumped out at me.  Sorry.

All EU account is being transered to US servers next month calling them global servers instead. Dont know if they will open any new servers.

There is supposed to be german and frensh beta at the end of the year so maybe they will open language specific servers then.

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

I was never on the EU servers, but this is a link to an email that is supposed to from Turbine to the EU users.  From the forums on DDo that I keep up with, it appears that all will be moved to the existing servers.

From what I understand, the EU servers were not updated as frequently (Patch / Update / Mod-wise) so it's technically a 'good' thing.

I do expect them to open up new servers.

but Ive been playing on the F2p version for a while now and I dont really find any lag problems.  Although the the servers are packed with people now!  Sometimes I havnt been able to log on because server was full :O

If they made a new server then I'd imagine most EU people will go there, which I'd like tbh, finding a good UK guild is hard,  I wouldnt even mind paying for the transfer
