I found this thing on the net... pretty awesome. Takes your current FFXIV benchmark score and tells you what you would get with every other card out there. It helped me a lot, will hopefully help you all too.

Confirmed, for me, that upgrading my video card in the current generation and at the current prices just doesn't make much sense.

How accurate is this tool??
It does tell me that i would get about 8k points if i upgrade to 1 5870 (using a 5770 now) which made me wonder since i did see a lot of scores way lower than 8k using a 5870 but the CPU was a faster one than the one i am using.
So i am wondering how accurate this tool really is...
The Beta client and this benchmark work differently right now.
I dunno if it's just because beta is beta, but we'll see.
Benchmark wouldn't work for me unless I updated my ATI drivers. The only problem now, it seems the new drivers aren't very stable.
It would probably be more accurate if the benchmark was more like a normal benchmark. A 5870 is a significant upgrade from a 5770 assuming your processor isn't 3-4 years old. No, you're definitely not going to get 8k on high, possibly 8k on low if your processor is the TOP of the line i7, and probably with great ram and overclocks(which I'm assuming you don't have).
Off the top of my head you can look at this and realize that the 4870 is slightly better than the 5770 so comparing the 5870 directly to a 4870 isn't a bad way to see the difference you'd be gaining.

It's around the board a little but at worst like 35% and at best 80% or so, with most games probably well over 50% framerate gains assuming the rest of your system can keep up.
Well i am just curious how accurate this tool really is ill upgrade my Crad anyway once the 6000 series comes out in October.
I think its pretty accurate. I was comparing it to some benchmark scores people have reported. I think it may over estimate the ability of some GTX series cards (primarily drivers issues I think), but otherwise looks real good.

The way they're taking into account your system is your score. If someone puts in a 3k on high with the same card that someone else puts a 2.7k on high, presumably because of the rest of your computer, it adjusts the scores for other graphics cards. Ok in theory as a kind of easy solution to seeing performance gains but yeah you really need to be aware of bottlenecks and it's probably best to base incremental upgrades on other benchmarks. I had a lower end core2duo and a geforce 7900 GS, I didn't need to extensively benchmark my system(or look them up) to figure out a brand new computer with a quad core with crossfire radeon 4870's would smoke my old one. But if you're going from a decent last generation card to a current one, I'd use other methods of determining what would be a good upgrade.
I thnk for something thats able to estimate performance for ANY card and ANY game in a single place, its pretty darn good. As the other guy said, it takes your current data to adjust the outputs. The tool is for someone looking to upgrade their GPU, not their entire system. If you want to upgrade your entire system, just buy the latest crap as always. As long as your CPU, memory, HD I/O, etc arent bottlebecks -- I believe this thing makes a point. Otherwise, yes, it is probably not useful at all if some component in your system is bottlenecking your performance. Then again, technically your input into their system would indicate that (ie: 1500 benchmark score with a GTX 480... something else is wrong with your system).
