I don't reccomend this game to anyone.
You're not paying SV to develop an MMO. You're paying SV to have the players do so, and I'm not just talking about the patriarch forums.
The core of the game isn't even complete. Players aren't syncing up correctly; so PvP is broken. You can be hit while standing 10ft behind another person. The moment another individual moves into your area you lag to all hell.
Mobs stand halfway through you, run zig zags then stop, then run, then stand facing away from you and still hit you.
Magic is bugged.
Pets are bugged.
Theivery is uselss.
Keeps are bugged.
Server still crashes on a regular basis.
houses are bugged.
The dungeons are bugged.
Books are bugged.
About the only thing that isn't bugged is crafting. However, it's not complete.
And these guys need the community to tell them what to put in the game? I don't know, maybe fixing it first would help!

Mortal Online is simply one of the worst attempts I have ever seen at making a mmo. This game should still be in Alpha stage.
You are saying they haven't fixed anything and they are only planning on adding more?
Basically.
Not just that though. A lot of stuff they say they fixed doesn't get fixed.
For example chat. There was a bug that caused chat to loop back to old messages. Something you typed 15 minutes ago would scroll back through. The patch notes a week or two ago said it was fixed, it isn't.
They're focussing on territory control now. Keeps are needed for that, but the LOD isn't working right. You can ride through a keep wall because it'll load after you've already passed it. Houses will do the same thing. A house may not load until you're right up on it.
And how can you have territory control if you can't even PvP due to lag that occurs the second two people start fighting, or when the server doesn't update player locations correctly. Or if you can make your guy invinsible by dragging the game window while in windowed mode. Set autorun, drag the window, and you can fly.
They've been telling us for months now that they're waiting on Epic to fix stuff, or to implement things.
One guy was responsible for both thievery and war decks. Neither work right. They can't get theivery right so they just nerf it to all hell so that it's not worth playing. You turn grey when you attempt to steal, person types guard, and then you have to sit at the priest for 7 minutes before you can rez. You also can't raise pilfering on players in town because if someone has higher intelligence then you get no skill gains, and if you're a fresh character it's pretty much given that the magority of people are going to have higher int. They expect you to train on an AFK friend, in a game they said would have no grinding.
They aren't really testing anything before it's implemented. I'm not sure of anything that worked when put in the game. Pretty much everything is given to us broken.
Not even Darkfall was this bad. We're literally paying to beta test the game for them, 2 months after release. And yet they're focussing on putting more stuff in. But, this isn't all thier fault. The community is as much to blame. They cried and cried about not getting patches fast enough, so they started releasing every week; so stuff isn't tested enough. Then they cried after that that they wanted new stuff; so they started implemented new features even though they can't get the bugs squashed from he previous patch.
That was exactly my experience for the 35 days I played after release, although at that time thievery wasn't in yet. When I reported a similar experience as you I got a ton of heat from those who seem to find the game fun. There are certainly players who want to support this game with their purchase and subscription which is great, but new players should be well aware of what they are about to get "now" for their money before they buy. What troubled me even more than just the issues were the claims that the issues were fixed over and over, and that wes never my experience. Sorry to hear the news that from your perspective it's not much different.

Thank you for your honesty. I know from reading your posts on the official forums that you did have high hopes for the game. I noticed you describe what sounds like DESYNC being back. I did read a thread recently where people were claiming DESYNC was back but it didn't get a lot of responses (although I think every one that responded agreed). Can you confirm if in fact DESYNC is back?

Don't know what else I would call it.
Clients aren't matched up while moving. Where you are on your client, isn't were you are on anothers. They've been telling us since release that it's Epics fault, something in the Atlas network code, and their waiting for Epic to fix it.
Interstingly, the movement prediction was done by SV, and I've never had a problem with being to far to trade, snoop, interact with NPC's. Only when moving.
Yeah this pretty much sums up my experience as well.
Nothing worked at all, and im not trying to be smart here, literally every system or feature had some sort of bug / content missing.
Nice idea tho, too bad they dont have the capability to make something of it.
My gaming blog
This game is a perfect example of why "dev communiction" isn't a substitute for the ability to execute.
I have never played this game. I have no desire to play this game. Why?
Ability for the dev team to prioritize issues
Why are decapitiations in game when combat mechanics are not comleted?
Why is corpse dragging in game when de-sync is/was still around
etc
Pie in the sky intents without the tempered expactatins of reality
The Unreal engine
Multiple hit-boxes
etc
Hats off to the devs for ambition. However, just because a 13yr old is ambitious does not mean he can create a space shuttle in his back-yard.
I'm not saying it's a "bad" game. It's just not a "working" one, or one being developed by the devs. If they ever do get things fixed, it won't be the game they said it was going to be. It'll be another guild PvP game; that's not an RPG.
Pretty much sums it up, if you go to their official forums, there are threads about server population which is barely 400-500 players at peak time, even the hardcore supporters are starting to lose some faith and admit to play less and less, but still accept to pay just to support SV hoping for the game to improve.
Bugs are one thing, but the most annoying thing to me is the total lack of content.
This game was supposed to be sandbox but in the end, its not at all. Cities are the only places with a little bit of content, yet the main city, Tindrem, is still not there while promised on released, proof that devs can't deliver what they promise.
Outside cities, there are 3 dungeons, which are all bugged but 1. There are no loot in game, meaning everything has to be crafted, so the so said sandbox is just a bad excuse since in the end, all you do is have a crafter, have a fighter, use your crafter to equip your fighter, and PvP.
Nothing outside cities but empty terrain, few mobs with no AI. Still no butchery, no skinning, no leatherwork and tailoring (armorsmithing includes everything, while in DFO, LOTRO, WoW, EQ1, EQ2 all were separate skills) no fletching, no alchemy, no herbalism, no spell crafting, no quests, no NPCs, no fishing, no boats, no treasure hunting, no real racial attributes, etc etc...
Simply depressing...
Funny you should say there. There is a poll on the official forum that asks how often subscribers are playing. About 50% said they were playing 0, 1 or 2 times a week....
Thats obviously not a good sign 2 months after release...

Unfortunately, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. I am tired of MMO's being released in alpha/beta stage and the paying customer, US, are expected to pay to keep the game afloat. Meanwhile the Dev's usually ignore the player base with the excuse they are they are too busy to communicate because they are working hard on fixing the problems that
are continually popping up. This game is beginning to remind me of Dark and Light, only worse.
Well, I actually have lots of fun playing MO. It's very playable imo. When OP list things like Keep is buged, ... it's like Keep can't be build at all, but thats not true. Several Keeps have been build in Nave and more is under construction. It's like saying Internet Explorer is buged ... then it's useless ... but that is not true either even is IE had a few bugs.
The last patch just didn't add lots of new nice stuff but also fixed lots of bugs. But there are still some bugs to fix.
But still, I play like 5-10 hours a day. After an hour offline I start getting that feeling that I want to log in again. It has certainly hooked me.
After last patch I could increase gxf setting from low to medium and with medium shadows and still have same performance. So it's definitely getting much better in all areas. SV solve many more bugs than what are introduced. So it's going forward.
Next week we get a really interesting patch.
I have been playing MO for a year now and I play more hours a day than I have ever done.
I agree some things are better but , when they fixed 5 problems 5 more happen, the other day all my money disppeared out of my bank, unless the have soem new thievery skill where thiefs can steal out of banks then the game is broke, joking of course.
My guild which was small lost a tier 2 deed due to a horse bug, We got chased by red got away wold have...when we demounted to go across a river.. the deed holder crashed, the reds killed aloot , SV did nothinga bout any of these issues, then I found out later, they helped a bigger guild with teh saem issue and gave them the deed back because it was a bug , not because of the red killing us..
If it was because of a red that would be as intended, but it was because of the bug that we lost 500gold... 2 months of boring farming. They left the game, now I lost over 200 gold from a bug in my bank, Alot fo stuff that has been fixed but now important stuff like money is disapearing making the game unplayable, I have canceled my sub.
If SV gets there crap straight which I hope they do, I see MO being a great game, DFO, Fallen earth has alot of problems at the start and beta, both are great game that I love and supported, I will not support SV though , as they will not give items back for the bugs like DFO and FE did when they knew it was from bugs..
If SV wants to keep subs they will give people items money back from bugs, or they will lose us period.
I think you exaggerate it now. They fix much more than they break. So MO is definitely getting better and better.
I rather want SV to fix more bugs and add more stuff than spending time figure out if anyone have lost an item.
No, they list a lot more as fixed then they manage to fix.
The lastest patch put in tabards, apparently bugged.
Privious patch had player vendors, bugged.
When I say something is bugged, I mean that it has a bug. Magic, bugged. You can't get past 70 magic.
Not to mention they're continually adding and then removing aspects of the game. These are things you do during beta; not after release.
Like I said in a previous post, I don't think the game is bad. I just think they're bitting off more then they can chew at the moment, and the community isn't helping any.
