Hello,
I don't play WOW, nor have I ever played it or have had a battle.net account with this computer. I haven't been on Battle.net since like when Diablo II first came out. Anyways that was years ago. I found it funny that I got sent his email.

everyone got this email. id be hard pressed to believe it wasnt a disgruntled blizz employee who sold/gave thousands of emails out.
I've been getting those emails in my junk folder for a few years now. Even get them for Aion and ive never played either or had a battle net account
I got one of these today for an email account I don't use for battle.net. It's just a massive campaign to try and steal accounts.
I get an average of two a week, even though the email that they are sent to is no longer in use with my BattleNet account. Just an indication of how desperate these hackers/farmers are getting.
Current Games: WOW, EVE Online
I get them for both WoW and Aion, but oddly enough only on my strictly gaming only account (used for sign up's and stuff), the others never receive them.
Seeing as I did have an account @ blizz for it back in '04 or '05 it doesn't seem that strange to get the spam, emails must have been leaked or breached somehow, but getting the ones for Aion is a bit weird since i've never played it or any other game from that company, but yet these spammers had to have gotten my email from somewhere.. wonder where that was, or maybe it's just the same "company" behind the phishing mails.
I too get them as well as other types with phony Blizz links. I did play WOW but before the mandatory Battlenet. I also get them from Aion in which I played beta but never subbed. Its odd that I get them for games I no longer play but have never gotten them from games I do. One could say its because the games I play arnt as popular therefore not as important a target as WOW but that would not be true of Aion.
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.
lol yea it is crazy, this isn't the email address i had when i did battle.net in high school lol
it is ridiculous how good they actually are. Shows what serious business getting other peoples accounts appears to be..
Got two the last days after i got sc2 why have newer got one before. Think blizzard have a security hold
I suspect that MMORPG.com had the mailing list compromised.
Some discussion here : http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/286483
Where did the OP say that it was an emailadres used for MMORPG.com? You might want to be more carefull with throwing around accusations like that.
BTW, I noticed I received similar phishing emails too in the junkfolder of an emailadres unrelated to any of my MMO accounts or MMORPG.com for that matter.
The email I use for this site is the only one I have that I havnt gotten phishing emails. So no I dont think so. I do suspect facebook though.
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.
Had exactly the same email as the op. And the spam emails have been getting much for worse for me recently than they have ever been. Do not suspect mmorpg.com at all, but just wanted to say I am not on facebook, though agree with you that there security rules are....questionable.
Yeah,
I have been playing since day one and just started getting them withing the past month. Some are about my account and even for beta sign up. I dont answer any, I do reply back to them
FUK U
just too see if I get a reply. i did today it was an generic response. LOL
Whast funny is that the email address I have is only for WOW and this site and Im sure its not from this site.
Funnt Shit
Sinn
I just checked my emailadresses and the weird thing is that I get phishing mails on an emailadres that isnt related to MMORPG.com or any of my mmo accounts. But not on my emailaccount that I use for MMORPG.com.
Also funny is that I receive WoW phishing emails on my email account that I only use for Guild Wars
I get phishing e-mails to my e-mail account I use for forums and game sites, for for any mmo accounts I have a separate e-mail that never gets them.
I also have a family member that's looking for a job and they are getting phishing e-mails from supposed companies looking to hire. Their AV software blocked a trojan just this morning...
Kind of sad when phishers are going after the unemployed. I mean who in their right mind would try to steal from someone who most likely has nothing?
I get 2 or 3 of these a day. To an e-mail address I use to have registered to my battlenet account. The thing is, few months ago I changed my battlenet account e-mail to something completely different and I haven't gotten a single phish email to my new e-mail (the one my battlenet account is actually registered to). I continue to get them to my old email, so it makes it easy to realize the scamming scumbags when I see them.
