My lady and I are looking to play an mmorpg casually. We`ve both played Eve and while they game has some amazing concepts and features its a bit slow for us. We`ve both played Warhammer and we really like the graphics in this game but we think something more PvE oriented would suit us better. I`ve played WoW for ages and really don`t see myself going back to it. It also lacks satisfying graphics. We`re open to pay and free games. We`d probably stick with Warhammer if it was more PvE oriented.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I would say check out the list we have here on MMORPG.com, it's really handy since you can narrow down the results and change them in order of quality, or payment options, etc.
I've used it a few times to look for something new to futz around with.
Aion can be fairly PvE oriented.
Other than that, wait one more month for FFXIV.
Try Lord of the Rings or Guild Wars a try.
These are some of the games my wife & I play atm
I played GW before, I thought it was PvP oriented.
We also looked at EQ2 a bit which is pretty cool because it has a lot of class-race combinations.
if you have a good enough computer AOC is alot of fun and the graphics are the best out there, but my suggestion is keep playing one u alrdy have and save for FF
Honestly there isn't any good free games out in my opinion, I'd know I spent years looking for one, I've played Wow for 4 years and quit, and played many other p2p games, atm im subbed to AoC but seriously thinking of unsubbing, its just not my kind of game, atm im waitng for Gw2 and FF looks ok but I havn't really looked into it for myself. I don't really game much because im always busy with life and my Gf who I love more then games haha Your very lucky your lady likes gaming with you props my friend
Back on subject haha, honestly if your going to try FF then just find a free game and wait, no need to use money, If you don't mind using money AoC is ok, or maybe vanguard if you don't mind a smaller population of players.
Atm im trying runes of magic which is free, its pretty much a Wow copy and its not that fun to me because I've already played Wow for years.
I hope that helped a little, Sorry I can't be of too much help, to me most games out arent worth the time, but you have your lady which will help a lot, I get bored easy haha.
Good luck to you though!
Graphics are important. Its really just imporant that they aren`t cartoony looking.
Does FF14 only have 5 classes? And those classes are also the career/race?
Age of Conan is not that bad either. Give it a try. Definately doesn't lack the graphics and it has a world for mature audience which I found refreshing.

I was hoping for more of a mature atmo, but the problem is no matter the age most gamers are not very mature, its quite sad I have very mature friends in Wow still but very immature too.
THe graphics in AoC are not very cartoony, but they are not the best either in my opinion, I prefered Aion but that game takes too much time for me.
Players can't be helped, thats true, but it isn't everyday that you you enter a swearing contest as a quest in an MMO. Without censorship. And the world isn't so naive.

As someone mentioned earlier, try Lord of the Rings. The graphics are very good/life like, it is heavy pve, good for casual and hard core alike. The community is very mature at the moment but that could change when it goes f2p. You could always give the free trial a try to see if you like it.
yes FF only has 5 races but each race is seperated into 2 different subraces so an elf for example can either be a forest or cave elf. I dont know how much of a difference the subraces will be but i know the starting attributes will be different.. You will like FF especially if you have some1 to team up with since it is a very party based game.
The class system is kinda weird though since you can be whatever you want to be at whatever time and never limited just to one class, we will see how it works out.
Of all the MMO's I've played, LoTRO probably has the most mature player base. A great storyline. Far above average graphics. No cartoons. Good for casual play. A dev team that is always striving to make things better and listens well to player feedback.
LOTRO seems to be a popular vote, although I don't care for the theme. I'm picky, I know
However I did notice that it was created by Turbine who also created my first addiction Asheron's Call. So I will probably check that out.
imo FF14 is weak in only have 5 classes with 2 subclasses each.
I really appreciate all of your input so far!! Thanks
What is this I don't even
Last time I played WoW I picked the gnome class and played a mage race.
Final Fantasy 14.
Gnomes are a stupid class imo, the fact that a gnome warrior is even close to a tauren warrior makes me not want to play the game.
One of the coolest things about Asheron's Call was there wasn't set classes you had to pick. You could roll your own.
I'd go for Lord of the Rings online even if you dont like the theme. Its fantastic for PvE and join the Eldar RP-server where you will find many mature Kinships to join. I've recently returned to Lotro and I just love it.
I dislike gnomes with a fiery intensity.
Most folk who roll one are either confused preteen greenhorns, middle aged balding men, or guys in their mid-twenties who think they're better than everyone else because they play the race everyone hates.
... Hahaha... :]
i would wait till Rift comes out. it seems PvE oriented.
Rift looks pretty cool. 2011 though.. I could be dead by then I'll definitely keep an eye on this one.
