AION or WAR until FFXIV is released?

I just quit WoW hopefully forever, and am eagerly anticipating FFXIV.  I used to play both AION (For about 3 weeks) and WAR (for about 2 months) back when they each were released, but quit do to going right back to WoW.

What game would you install and start over from scratch?  WAR or AION?  I love PvP.  its probably my favorite aspect in a MMO.  Even WoW and its bleh PvP still makes the game interesting.

I know im ultimately wasting my time and money, but whatever.  I just want to play a game, level a character, and have fun until FFXIV.

Do the WAR Trial and then don't play anything until you get FFXIV.

Doesn't FFXIV come out like in a month? :)

Do pick any imo.  By the time to get settled and whatnot, the game will be out. hehe

Get your house/room/dorm ready I would say.

Arrange everything, Shampoo the carpets, stock up on supplies ect ect.

Go out with friends ect ect...then when it releases, you are ready. ;-)

    Neither.

    Do something productive.

Try FFXIV trial (if there is one).

If you like it, keep going, if not, you save money.

    ????

    Profit.

Both Aion and Warhammer aren't worth the time and money in my opinion.

I liked Warhammer best of the two. You can do the unlimited trial and see if you like it.

WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.

    Uhh?

The good about aion is that you can pvp 100% of your time if you want.

At 50 you can do Dredge (pve/pvp),pvp in the abyss, rift and forts. So,no,you dont grind to pve more.

If you are a hardcore pvper and really into it, and have a good PC I'd suggest trying out Darkfall. They have a free 14 day trial atm. Just check out some youtube videos on it and see how it's played

Theirs only like..2 maybe 3 weeks till XIV is released i think?

Wouldn't waste money on either of them considering it's only 2 weeks to release.

Maybe try some f2p's you've been eyeing or something.

    44 days (7 weeks + 2 days).  Still a long wait.

As far as the OP's question goes... you could play lots of MMO trials if you wanted to.  A good game to play before playing FFXIV would be FFXI.  Should get you use to the control system and the gameplay.  Out of Aion and War though, I'd personally go with Warhammer because you won't be able to do any sort of fair PvP in Aion in a month of a half and Warhammer you can get started PvPing right away.

War's PvP is actually better at the lower levels in my opinion in the battlegrounds.  That RvR stuff is just an endless zerg back and forth.

yeah dont install War or Aion just a waste of time and resources, instead get everything together and go pre-order FF so u can start playing a week early or 3 days whichever it is, and request work off.

or if ur a warcraft fan but sick of wow, try Warcraft III Dota, its not a full out mmo but fun as hell and a great way to pass time till the release. its pvp is so addicting

OP, FFXIV from what I gather hits next month.  I'd say save your time and efforts and just do something else contructive while you wait for your game.  No sense in putting effort into something, like another MMO, that you don't intend to stick with.

Many people that played Aion dont' ever get to max level.  They quit before it.  The grind is too harsh and boring.

    I'd go with Warhammer.

    Like the man said:

The only good MMO's are the ones not published yet.

Expect the same question to be asked in November but with different titles.

Ok, thanks for the info.  Perhaps I will just EVE until then.

Anyone else going to get into FFXIV too?  Or is there another game everyone is waiting on getting into?

  • nordamaxnordamax Member Posts: 92

FFXIV is almost here. Just wait abit and play some browser games  and watch movies. you can kill weeks easily.

Waiting on TERA for me. Might try Cataclysm and GW2 though. But TERA is the big one on my list.

    Been playing AoC until then.

For you though id recommend WAR. Aion PvP sucks. Its get ganked until you reach 50 which you then become the ganker. Fort raids are a joke. Too easy if youre Elyos, forget about it if youre Asmo. WAR should keep you entertained with PvP for a good while, and the PvP isnt all that bad either.

You can try the 14 day trial of Dark Age of Camelot.

Imo, the best PVP game of all time :p

Back on topic ... if you really want to try either, i will go with WAR since you can play the pvp scenerios aka battleground at start even :p

Dark age of camelot belongs to mythic as does WAR.

Why not just play starcraft 2?

Both Aion and WAR are crap imo
