FFXIV, Looking for people to party with when game goes live..

vectrexevovectrexevo Member UncommonPosts: 167

Hey all, Just looking for a group or guild to party / join with when game goes live.  I will be creating what ever tank class the game has to offer.  If this game is all about PVE (story) then I'll be down to do all the quest lines during lvl'ing..

I searched guild portal or what ever its called for a large guild for the Warhammer release.  After an extensive interview I was excepted into a large guild with like 100 slot vent, with over 200 people.

On game day everyone was on at once, and we were chatting and grouping to do quest.  RvR was sooo organized with ranks, teams and flag carriers, Only the leader and their captions were allowed to talk during RvR battles, and they were a well oiled team, it was so much fun. This went on for weeks, but the game started to fall apart, but it was one of the best times ever in my mmo history.

Launch time (or just before in open beta) is always the most fun time of any mmo experience for me.  I never look for guilds or even premade groups before launch - rather I just do my thing and meet new people (which is really easy at launch when everyone is experiencing the same things and we're all new).  If you don't have real life friends that are joining, this approach works even better.  That's just personal preference anyway.

That actually sounds like something that would annoy the shit out of me. Not so much the line-and-file kind of group, but having to take an interview to join a guild (has it become a job already?) and having to treat some internet nerd with a superiority complex as my boss. I like relaxed guilds, not overly serious ones that need to treat their real occupations as serious as they do a game played in their spare time. Would prolly drive me crazy, and I played Face of Mankind for quite some time and already dealt with this kind of stuff frequently. Disguised as RP or not, I can't stand it.

I understand what your saying GT,

And it would appear that way ( like a job ).  However it was the opposite. The interview was formal i'll give you that, but come game day their were no winners, no kids, but at the same time it was very non formal, we really had a lot of fun, say anything, because everyone were mature adults. And yes everyone helped each other, more so than I has ever seen. If you sucked or new to mmo's some would go of on other channels to explain things to them.

RvR had to have leaders, with over 100 people at a time it was only right to have the leaders talk only. I guess you had to be their to understand that everyone was ok with this, because they were THAT GOOD. Nothing like a good ambush, send one player off on his own, and 30 of us hiding behind something. I wish I took screen shots of 70 of us going over a ridge, following behind a red, blue, and green flag.

With a guild like this, it never mattered that the game sucked, we made it the best times ever. But like perpetual motion, the game was doomed anyway.

I agree, the best memories from an mmo are in the beginning when you're first exploring and meeting new people. The next best are when you reach endgame content for the first time =P. If anyone is bored and is looking for people to play with when FFXIV comes out, me and some friends run a ventrilo and we will be wasting away in there for the next 41 days. Also setting up a linkshell with some RL friends and old linkshell mates from FFXI.
