How good is the story?

Just wondering how the story is shaping up for those who have put some time into the game.  Does it look like it's going to be better than your normal crappy MMO quality and in line with FFXI in terms of depth and so forth?

Not much of the story is added yet.

During developement all games are sandboxes. At release they all become theme parks.

I don't think they gave beta testers much of the storyline to play through, probably saving it for release.

So no way of knowing :[

FF games seem to normally be great with setting and hit or miss with story.  Normal the story premise is always interesting,  but the execution of the story telling is sometimes just down right sad.  FF8 and FF13 for example.

There is a lengthy bit of the main story coming off the boat in regards to the sea monster, and after visiting quite a few NPCs all across Limsa Lominsa and even doing an escort mission, what I read was quite interesting and I'm eager to learn more.

Just like with FFXI though, there are some rather lengthy in-game cutscenes and tons and tons of storyline to read through.

We don't know, something about pirates and an empire so far......other than that run the benchmark that's the most solid piece we have, sadly.

Its Final Fantasy the story will rock. They arent showing the storyline because like on 11 the story is major.

Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.
