Most of the development team has been fired. The ability to subscribe in monthly blocks has disappeared. Rumors are circulating that RTW is trying to sell the game to another investor. Horrible reviews and poor sales with a small playerbase.
Damn, I wanted to love this game, but it's such a wasted good idea. Who else gets the feeling the plug is going to be pulled on this game in six months or less?

Not even close. The WISH MMO closed down during the open beta. I don't think any MMO can do much worse than that.
Too many people consider it thinking it's an mmorpg, when really it's not, it's a 3rd person shooter..
So those people were disappointed..
Really it's a niche game for a specific audience
Personally, once the novelty factor wore off, it stopped being interesting, but I am sure others like it.
I'm sure he meant the shortest lifespan of a released mmo, which APB will definitely qualify for. IF you were counting open beta mmos, WISH would have to compete with SEED and Gods & Heroes for the honor.
-Letting Derek Smart work on your game is like letting Osama bin Laden work in the White House. Something will burn.-
-And on the 8th day, man created God.-
Yea, except it's not an mmo
Everyone i know has quit and moved on now and they all raved about APB at release.
Well, it's too bad RT marketed it as one, isn't it? They get to enjoy the same fate as Flagshit Studios Hellgate: London, whih made the same stupid mistake of claiming to be something it wasn't.

Shortest MMO i ever played after release 1 week...than they had hardware failure and pulled the plug...

Yea, that was pretty stupid of them.. Had they marketed for what it was, then the people interested in that sort of thing would have gotten it, and all the mmo players wouldn't feel jipped heh
Seed Online
Which again, was not a released mmo.

I played APB since launch, wow what a different kind of game it was. The car chases, the hanging out of windows as your buddy drove shooting at crims/cops ect...... I was impressed, until week 2 and NO hotfixes for the droves of errors, NO fixes for the lag/sound issues, NO fixes/stopping the 100's of hackers that RUINED the game experiance. Tons of promises on the forums but NO action.......
This game was a true example of how a GREAT idea can get F&#CKED up fast if the company does NOT respond, or release a NON finished product just go get it out to the masses and trying to PAY for itself BEFORE it was 100% Complete.
....Being Banned from MMORPG's forums since 2010, for Trolling the Trolls!!!
So Tabula Rasa is the one to beat? 4 months?
Tabula Rasa ran for 15 months. Before it was shut down.
Seed Online 5 days Online... hardware failure bankrupt. Done...
Damn, was it really that short lived from release to death? I remember it being relatively short, but damn. GO GO NCSoft!!
Edit: Seen JeroKane's post above. That sounds more like I remember.
Okay, you're right. I forgot they did manage to get it out the door.

no I lookd at the date wrong
If APB does shut down they need to alteast turn the chaos ruleset on (assuming they even got that far to make it >_>)
A release mmo is defined as a mmo taking subscriptions dont make me pull the bank statment out damn it...
Shortest-lived? Probably not. Dunno how long it'll last. I had quite some fun in the beta, but there were too many aspects that bugged me. Too many aspects that bugged me to have me buy the game. They removed the possibility of the monthly fee, and now you have only the option to pay for some hours, if I got that right? Woah that sucks... even one more reason for me not to get the game.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
You can still spend 280 RTW on 20 hours or 400 RTW on 30 day unlimited play. They took out the longer term, 90 and 180 day game time options. So that there are less refunds they have to make I wonder?
If APB is canceled I'll put the blame where it needs to be EA Games...
Actually, after doing a little checking, SEED was released to the public on May 6th, 2006. It was shut down september 28th, 2006. So it made it 4 months after release. Here's the official closing announcement from Runestone Games informing them they'd be shutting the game down shortly:http://www.runestone.dk/index.php?page=49
No, I think RealTime Worlds gets the blame for this one. They announced and promoted it as an mmorpg right from the start, long before they even had a publisher.

That's what indicates to me that it doesn't have much longer to live. Less of a hassle trying to refund or fight off long-term subscribers once it gets axed if you just makes sure that there aren't any people with multiple months already payed off.

XD good times good time.... Shotty gamer memory oh well Gonna have to get a reminder with Octina on that one.. But I think it spent a long time in Open Beta but i remember only making one payment to the company and playing until its death
Honestly i only say EA because they fund these games for release than set the dates, the terms, and sometime control the content and when things turn foul they pull funding and move on to the next project...
well its not a MMORPG, but it will get an award for shortest lived MMOTPS
