What settings can I run this game with a GTS 250, or can I run it at all?

I have been looking at all these threads saying that their high-end graphics cards have trouble playing Final Fantasy, and this got me wondering. Will I even be ABLE to play final fantasy on my computer, or should i just wait till PS3? I have a Nvidia GTS 250, and it plays Age of Conan great,, which is good and dandy but I don't want to play Age of Conan anymore. I actually only started Age of Conan to hold me off till this came out, and now I hear I may have to wait another year... Will I have to wait or will I be able to play on September 22nd? And if I can play the game what are the recommended settings I play on?

Yeah you can run it. Probably lower resolution/detail though.

They made a benchmark video and will tell you if you can run the game or not and at what settings you should use when it does come out. http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/media/benchmark/na/

    How low would you say?

Can't answer that ad I don't know what is able to be customized. The benchmark runs at 1080p or 720p, so at least the lower resolution.

Benchmark is broken and my experience proved it. The benchmark killed my computer and I play the beta on high @ 1920 x 1200.

I have dual GTX 260s, I would think a 250 would run the game @ mid-range settings 1600x1200 or so, depending on your other hardware. There's more to running a game than a GFX card.

Quad Core processor, 8g ram but have 32 bit vista so the extra 4g is useless. My motherboard is a terrible ASUS motherboard that would blow out if I tried to tax it anymore than I am at the moment. My PS is 600w.... I think that's all you need to know.

You should be perfectly fine, then. A little wasted ram, but don't judge your performance on the benchmark, that is completely whacked up.

EDIT: Just saw a 32 bit Vista... You REALLY should upgrade to 64 bit Windows 7. Really.

I think you should be able to play at a decent resolution with decent settings. You may be right in the middle or a little higher.

If only I could print my own money... :P I just don't have the funds to get that, so expensive... And yeah the benchmark was placing me at 3500 low res, which said default settings or a little higher.  I am curious to see though what that ACTUALLY looks like.

Also Skeaser thanks, that's where I figured I would fall.

Another question though, should I buy it now and play till PS3 version comes out or just wait for PS3 version and let the game go through a little refining before I play it? Thanks.

That's really all up to you. I can't tell the future, but based on how games have been coming out lately, I would guess FFXIV will have some issues at launch. If you can play the game and enjoy it despite having minor inconveniences, then go for it. If you're the type of person who rages when things break, I'd wait.

If, by chance, you're a student, you can get a windows 7 upgrade pretty cheap, normally from your college's library.
