I think they are both fun for a few months. WoW has more to do than CoH however.

putting this question in the wow section of this web site/chat area... in the end it will ultimately get you more wow votes/pros/etc. considering this is the area in which most wow people will be reading.

There is a little hero in all of us.

Try WoW after they fix all their freakin' bugs/glitches/errors/etc.  I am signed up with WoW and have yet to play maybe 5 hours in the last 2 weeks because of bugs and glitches with WoW's servers and patches.  Goodluck!!!

I'm surprised to see votes for CoH when this is posted on the WoW forum.

I played CoH when it was first released, it got old very quickly for me due to repetitive missions and so on. I am about to try out WoW myself today (about to go out and grab a copy)...I just hope it lives up to the highest rating of an 8.7 overall score on this website. I will definitely post after playing it a few weeks image.

    I played both...

The best part of City of Heroes in my opinion was the Character Creation.. after that it was very run of the mill.  I enjoyed it, but it wasn't anything spectacular.

WoW, the character creation is a bit bland, but the game itself has a lot more to it.  As blocky as you may think it looks from certain pictures and screenshots, the graphics are just beautiful.  When I'm playing, I can't say I've ever noticed any blockiness.  There is a difference when you're playing it and when you're viewing it in a picture.  There are certain times I've just stopped playing or slaying those monsters and just looked at how pretty a certain zone looks.

City of Heroes is a lot more friendly to groups of friends that like to play with the sidekick feature.  In WoW, you'll be forced to play with people of your own level.  Instance play in City of Heroes is again, nicer to random groups of people.. the instances tailor themselves to fit the number you have in your group (so if you have more people in your group, the mob density in the dungeon increases to make it challenging), while in WoW, the instances are tuned to a specific level and quantity of players.

I think ultimately though, it'll come down to which genre you like more.. fantasy or sci-fi/comic book.  Warcraft has a great storyline that I enjoy discovering more info on, while I was never much of a comic book fan and I just couldn't get into City of Heroes' storyline at all.

Don't let the naysayers turn you off to WoW with all the "I can't get online" comments.  I've played WoW since it's release, and I've had to wait in the queue maybe a total of 5 times (and I play about 40 hours a week image), and only once for over 3 minutes (~10 minutes, during the first use of queue where they were trying to discourage people from logging onto certain servers in order to have them choose other servers).  It just goes back to what you expect for your $15/month.  Considering how much I play, I figure I am only paying 10 cents and hour, so yeah, I think I'm getting WAY more than what I'm paying for.

Oh, one other thing you'll get in City of Heroes that isn't as common in World of Warcraft...  You don't get as much gender-crossing people playing WoW as you do in CoH.

It's one thing to roleplay a woman character in a true to life manner, it's another thing to dress that character in a lingerie type outfit and run around.  It's a bit creepy seeing all those scantily clad women characters running around knowing they can only be guys.  On the "sexually confused" scale, I'd rate it the equivalent of some guy trying on his wife's (or worse yet, his mom's) underwear on while she's not at home.

    Very disturbing...

well considering put it this way if you play CoH and have let say lvl 35 scrapper ur scrapper will be like most other lvl 35 scrapper. and for WoW i have a lvl 49 orc rogue and i am unique in the gear and telensts i choose and im able to kill a palladin at least 4 lvls higher than me which is very very difficult for most rogues. But again they do have problems with the servers but as the person before said i ahd 5 hours of play after 2 weeks. i so doubt that. i dont know maybe your server but on my persepctive and on my server i have no problems. and if you wana know my server its Magtheridon orc and if you do play WoW my char name is Darkkilla. oh yea link down below is out of date old char hes horrible in that stage.

I, myself, have only played World of Warcraft. From what I have read about CoH and experienced in WoW, it looks like the only thing that CoH has over the other is it's high amounts of character customization. So looking at it from my perspective, it seems like if you want to play a game for a good long while with semi-original quests then go for WoW. On the other hand, if you want to play a game and never see anyone who looks exactly like you, then CoH is for you.

In my opinion, content is better than customization. Besides that, from WoW censuses, Trolls only maske up like 8% of the whole population so I haven't seen too many like me.

Well WOW is great in content and fun for a average player.  Its gay problem is that Blizzard ignored all teh bugs and tech probs.  COH is an ok game.  I guess. I say AVERAGE

They ignored them? Really? I was under the impression that the bug released in this past patch(which fixed other bugs in the game) was fixed the very next day. Also, I was honestly convinced that every patch before then had fixed at LEAST one bug that was effecting players world wide. Now how could they trick me and every other person who reads the patch notes while they are downloading them like that?

    That's just not ethical, man.

ive played both of the games and liked them alot, and i posted this message in both CoH and WoW forums. im currently playuing WoW and im likeing it, but its really really hard to earn money and find groups since i started a little late so everyone is 60 and the ganking is very annoying.

    To kev1549,

Then play on a Normal server, i do and the PVP plays a major role in the game too, tho u can feel free not to engage into pvp and you wont get ganked while questing etc..

With the soon to come Battlegrounds the PvP on normal servers will be more exceptionel then on PvP servers.. why? cause pvp servers u pvp allover ;)

Normal servers is similar to DAOC RvR (with modifications) where when u are questing and lvling you wont be engaged in pvp, and when you want pvp you can port to the battlegrounds. Well thats how i see it anyways.

I gotta get this off my chest. Battlegrounds arent in the game yet! stop acting like they are and waving it in peoples faces like "ha ha, we got battlegrounds and their great!"

inless they just added them this week, then they arent in yet. and wont be for like 2 months or something along those lines.
