Me and a buddy of mine were chilln in the local cantina, you know when just hanging out used to be cool in that game. Anyways we'd been shoot'n the shit for a minute and were thirsting for some action.  We were prolly mid skill level and decided to go raid an imperial outpost on Dath. I was a commando and he was a teras kai. We waited a full 10 minutes for that damn shuttle to land and finally took off to the hostile planet of Dathomire.

Once we landed on the death infested planet, we marked our maps with the waypoint to guide us to our destination. We hopped on our speeders and took off to rid the designated area of imperial scum. When we arrived imperial troopers and atst's were everywhere we scoped it out for a minute and planned our assault.

During the recon one of the atst's caught us in its radius and started blasting us immediately. He starts busting it up with his vibroblade as i hurl rockets into this thing. After we finish with our /flex spam i load up my flame thrower and we enter the base and start unleashing chaos que mashing style. I love the smell of melting imperial armor in the morning. After about an hour we finally destroyed everything there was to be destroyed. We made off with an assload of rebel faction and loot to be placed in the bazaar. That was a good day. I don't want to talk about it anymore..

Meeting the people from the guild Force Crystal Hunters and joining them. What a great bunch of people. Funny as hell to play with. The guild was later renamed DELTA(Deadly ELiTe Agents).

Vryce, the funniest wookie on Bria. His dream was a pair of red hawtpants...

But its just to many  great people from old Bria to mention. It was just a pleasure to play with and against you all.

I think there will never be a community like that again in any MMORPG.

/shout KRAYT HUNT!!! Whos with me?

A buddy, who I only met in SWG, was opening a new armorsmith shop so I shot off a bunch of fireworks to advertise it's location.  I was a master ranger who sold hides to him.

NO I didn't have a quest saying, "You must launch 50 fireworks for 500 XP points."  And NO I didn't have a quest saying I have to give this NPC 50 or so hides for 1,000 XP points."  I just did it for profit and networking.

It was fun finally setting up your first primo-deluxe master-ranger camp.  Sure it wasn't worth the materials, barely functional and almost useless, but it was cool.

camps were so awesome.  I'll try to add some.

    Hunting parties with friends.

Personal relationships with crafters and Smugglers

    Riding a Bantha

Creating a City with my friends

    Jabba's Palace

Crafting, Crafting, Crafting.  No MMO sense SWG has it beat on crafting.  It is a gold standard (even today) for what crafting in a game should be.

The skill system was fun, very fun.  I could be whatever I wanted to be.  At launch I was a Pole arm user (forget what they are called now, I think it was called pikeman)

Too many fun times to count really.

My fondest memories from this games are many. Some of the are from hunting gangs, sitting around the fire place of the camp having a great laugh.

I always like the encounters with the role playing guild Stormtrooper Detachment Epsilon, seeing how a lot of regular players played along with them when they did raids, search of local cantinas etc. they brought something extra to the server.

Offcourse seeing Darth Vader in Bestine killing some dumb ass player was precious.

yeah i used to love that game...

Me and my in game buddy Walker on Bria. A few weeks out of beta into release. Back then you could put all your tamed pets into your droid and pull them all out at once. We would spend hours running around dantionne and let loose 20+ pets on the Force Sensitives around the bottom edge of the map.

We had every single rare pet you could get in the game. Queen kilckniks and woolamanders were my favorite. He liked the all the Rancors. I had a droid named Coleco and he had one named Atari. My favorite pets were a Quenn Klicknick named Nena and some rare dog named Stonewall.

I built the first house on my server and the first large house on my planet. It was as close to Correlia as you could build.

The hologrind killed it for meas I had levled up characters on 3 accounts... then I found out I should have just done it on one character...

Man I miss that game. I'd sub immediatly again if they offered pre-cu.

Finding the pimpinest locale on Dantooine, and placing a Tatooine guild hall and other structures to make a personal enclave. Then decorating it like a mini-mall, and setting up vendors that speak to me like I'm the big-boss man. I spent the majority of my time in that game hunting/crafting items to use as deco, then placing them around in a way that pleases me. You could get really creative in that game, like curtains made out of red dresses, a bacta tank converted into an aquarium with floating fish you caught yourself, or a BBQ using a food crafting station, embedded torch and "chicken leg" from the early Jabba's Palace questlines.

    so many fond memories...

but for this thread i'll go with when i finished up all my blueprints, set up my factories, vendors, and house decor and opened up Foomerang's Droidwerks just outside of Theed.  havent played a video game yet that was as satisfying as seeing the end result of all that time and preparation.

Mine would be the day I unlocked my Jedi, many people say that jedi ended the game and in away it did. However it was still great to have a sense of accomplishment on all the grinding I had done. I don't know of many Sith Wookiees that were in the game,, but mine was awesome haha. I remember the fun join the guild ISF where I met many of the people I travel from game to game with now, such as Star Trek online. I miss all the classes, not many games let you be a bounty Hunter who can change the appearance of a persons avatar. This game was my second MMO, i had quit Ulitma Online to play SWG and I never regret it, what I do regret is the NGE, I would prefer PRE-CU, however I would take the CU back as well. I lost contact with many friends the day they put the NGE out and now I will probley never get to play with them again. I say we all should protest outside the main building until they give us our game back haha.. Oh well I also miss the battles between the Rebels and Imperials, both sides took it so seriously haha, I also miss the fact that even if you were part of the empire you could still have rebel friends, not many games allow this if your on an opposing side.. your done.

    RIP SWG

Kallaswone Evil Sith Wookiee O doom MWHAHAHA.

I was thinking I was pretty smart for figuring out that you could grind Rifleman by killing Klikniks in the Blueleaf temple when they were at the bottom of the pit. They were way out of my league, but I discovered you could sneak in after other tougher PC's cleaned the place out. Then you could find a spot where the Klikniks on the top wouldn't aggro on you, then you could pew-pew away at the Klikniks on the bottom without fear of getting hit (borderline exploit I know, but they designed it that way so I didn't have TOO much guilt over it).

One day I accidentally aggro'd the top level Klikniks (they normally incap you first, then DB you upon recovering, every single time).

So there I was lying there with incap timer counting down the seconds to DB time, when I hear the familiar snap-hiss for the first time since logging into SWG. By the time I recovered from my incap, there were Kliknik corpses all over the place, and I was being healed back to life by the Jedi. We exchanged some cool SW RP banter, and he was off with a 'May the Force be with you" as fast as he had arrived.

    Super cool.

A few months later, there were lightsaber duels around every corner with screams of 'duel me noob!'.

     good story.

tbh i do recall the explosion of jedis ingame with people dueling in theed as jedi with little or no fear.had CU not come this would have been the future of SWG and then people will mass quit as everyone will be playing jedis(as overpowered as they were back then) and those who are leet would quit as they are same as everyone and rest will quit as the game will be mostly one class.

seems SWG was meant to die one way or other.pity i miss my crafting there .a game which crafters were known for their quality!

Friends.  The best part of SWG was people I played with.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

What should be my fondest memory of SWG is forever tainted.  The day I unlocked my full template jedi is the day the NGE was announced.  It was a very bitter sweet day for me.  I unsubbed that day and have not looked back.

The crafting system is a close second.  I doubt we'll ever see a crafting system as fun and educational as the one SWG had.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

There were a lot of good ones through the years...

But I'd have to say #1 was the time the Guild I founded (with a bunch of close friends) did our 1st Official Krayt Hunt during the beginning of the CU...Before that hunt we had only been out with the Jedi from the Guild we all met in, and we knew we were just basically along for the ride then...This time it was all on us, the Leaders of the new Guild and not a single Jedi among us yet, to take down these beasts...It was SUCH a blast! I'll never forget I healed more that day on My Doc then I had probably before and after combined...

The 2nd actually happened after the NGE...I looted a 4/5 Sith WP and a 4/5 Sith Med on the same day...I thought that was pretty cool...image

Most fond memory, me sitting in space doing the same mission over and over because I thought it was a chain. It took me 3 hours of doing the stupid escort missions to realise it wasn't going to end.

  • herculeshercules Member UncommonPosts: 4,925

intresting that many people fondest memories involve unlocking jedi which eventually was going to turn swg  to a 1 class game in the long run.

my memories are about the community.even the catina was fond memories.but my fav is building a shopping mall with some online friends and throwing a dance  competition that night.next day we sponsored a krayt hunt .

Enjoyed the Community and the fact that you could just kit up and go exploring. Never really felt the need to gain levels are an alarming rate like most MMO's nowadays. Sorta felt like a nice relaxing mmo.

Still enjoy SWG nowadays but the above was killed with the NGE sadly :(

With the TEF, the action was 24/7 like Restuss, except all over the place!

We used to walk into Bela Vistal on foot because the Imps had the shuttleport guarded 24/7.  We'd go in, hit like gangbusters, and move on out.

Same thing with Theed, except it was a little easier to shuttle in from Moenia because of all the shuttleports.

But of course, my best experience with fighting the Imps was on Tatooine along no-man's land between Bestine and Anchorhead.  People used to run mission groups on both sides, and sometimes we'd all bump into eachother and it was ON, man!  Sometimes I'd just stalk around hitting mission runners, so as to keep them honest.  I also kept on the lookout everywhere when I was building the FP (Wayfar was my favorite place, but even there I'd find the occasional Imp patrol).

I never for a moment felt as if there was no GCW back when TEFs were active.  It was all around, and directed everything back to Star Wars, and our place within the galaxy.  It was a huge theme, and a huge reason why Pre-CU was the most popular version, in my opinion.

I have several memories that are standing out to be some of the funniest moments in my MMO history

    1) Gank Squad Alpha (Moopa kills 9) aka GSA, was me and a few guildies that after the main guild had more or less quit we were playing the game for fun. we had about 4 bounty hunters and at that time there was a specific jedi called Moopa. that account was sold back and forth a few times, but at the times it was one of the loudmouths that owned the account and he would constantly brag about how awesome he and his friends was. He would always have help from his rebel friends and after a  few failed attempts by our bountyhunters to bring him down we did deploy a different tactic. To turn the table around the remaining guilds about 9 in total with the bountyhunters all started to hunt this jedi and to do some payback to their ganking squad. This created the guild GSA after we killed him time after time. The number nine was simply put there as at the moment in annoyed him that much. the exact times we killed him I do not remember, but it was more then 9. However it was 9 confirmed kills as a guild effort.

    2) Was pvping around Bestine with a guildie, I was RM/MTK and he was RM/CM. When we ran over one of the small hills looking down on Bestine we encountered the ones we were chasing. One of them shouted "Crap it's Cuba" and the 3 of them all ran off into Bestine. After that it was a cat and mouse game in Bestine. Spent 1,5 hours pvping against these 3 like a mad in Bestine's streets.

    3) Just to pop out a spiderbike and travel around looking after rebels that were overt and to see what could you find.

    4) A imperial base on Corellia was bugged so that you could grind faction points there forever, I managed to get quite a lot hatred towards me as it was my favorite spot to check for afkers and there was a few of them too. Biggest amount of kills was 20 people being there at once. Since gear could be destroyed by combat they often did this without armor so killing them was really just too easy.  The killing wasn't that much fun, every now and then you would encounter some random hotshot they brought there to defend them. Quite often these so called hotshot's thought their skill was extremely good, the truth however was quite toe opposite. :D It was a daily thing for me to check this spot every few hours as the people I killed would always be back, and often they would come to their computer and find them self dead and then send me a hate tell. Every time I got this tell I knew I would find them there again so it was really a good spot for me to gather imperial faction points too.

    5) The first time I saw jedi's in battle. This was on Tattoine and 2 imperial jedi from ANG was the first to show up in a large scale battle. Before that no one had really seen jedi's around at all and it was about 50-120 people fighting there, suddenly 2 lightsabers was brought out and all hell broke loose. Some rebels fled, some tried to kill the jedi's which made them a easy target for the rest of us.

    6) Running around on Tattoine as Commando and putting people on fire... This was before they introduced the blankets etc to put out fires. :D

There were so many fond memories for me on Ahazi. I really really miss this game and everything it offered. I would pay $30-40 just to play again.

However, one memory that really sticks out was killing a jedi call Poke Junior 3  times in one day with my BH. I was really evil. I got his mission and tracked him, then i sent him a tell saying i wanted to join his guild after i tracked him in his guild hall. He came out of his guild hall to meet me and then i began to beat him down. As i was just about to DB him he said he would pay me if i didn’t DB him. I asked for 1million credits. He then tipped me and i DB him in front of all his mates. The second time i saw him down the warren, where i would go to get my prey on the terminals. I knew i would get his mission now that he was on vis. I go back to the terminals and for sure hes there again. :) I chase him when he was grinding and as im about to DB him his i ask him to tip me another million because i didn’t get the last lot. He replied i don’t have it. I said get it from one of your mates. Seconds later i get tipped another million credits from one of his mates. Then i DB him. lol Then again later that day i pick up his mission again and no tip this time and i DB him.

I did feel sorry for the guy, but i was role playing a skanky BH and loved every second of it. I used to just walk up to jedi and say i have your mission tip me 250,000 credits and i won’t kill you. Most would tip straight away even though i didn’t have their mission. I was a very wealthy BH. That’s all i did was hunt Jedi. i loved it

    Sorry poke Junior

My best memory was the time I was being stalked by a bounty hunter while I was PVPing in Restuss and outside its borders and this guy kept following me around a Rebel bounty hunter so I stopped despawned my BARC  and walked to him and asked him what was up, he didnt answer so I went back in on foot into Restuss along with my guild and other Imperial forces (Bloodfin Server) we have dominated the battlefield for weeks and we had a guild house that had buff bots setup to get quickly back in the battle since the Imperial Base was a very short distance away , we wiped out the Rebs in the city came back out the BH blew up my bike in front of the buff house  and started to attack me we fought for 2 hours long it became a big spectacle as I went off SF when I left the city when he attacked me and both sides Imperial and Rebel followed me and this BH around for the 2 hrs Imperials taunting the Reb BH and Rebs taunting me. they followed on bikes and on foot  we both hugged buildings using line of sight my toon was a Commando, eventually I whittled him down were he was making mistakes enough for me to get the drop on him and DBed him, I then got a rant tell from him calling me a noob and words you wouldn't use in front of your mother, he tried to come back several times after that but he wasnt buffed anymore and was too angry to play properly. Best fight I ever had in SWG.

I also liked in the post NGE when I played a BH toon and cheap shotted Jedis when they were dueling at starports and Restuss that was always worth a few chuckles as well. Easy money ;)
