I wonder how many people would enter this if it was only for ingame stuff instead of the hardware prize? I know I just want the processor, personally.

Keep in mind that besides the processor you'll need an LGA 1366 socket compatible motherboard.

The i7 doesn't fit into an older socket motherboard.

It's always fun to be a part of a contest. Thank you!

Unbelievable, there buying you affection with shining trinkets. It's just another PR stunt to try and get more people to buy a poorly made game.

You probably need a hardware replacement after playing that game anyway lol.... I read somewhere this game killed videocards in the beginning.

Still waiting for SW:TOR atm :p

This is a very nice compatition and it's very generous. I had a falling out with the support team, though it felt like there was only one of them when I kept trying to contact them. I gave this game a lengthy beta test to find the community mostly ignored or that a number of individuals were a lot louder and whinier than the rest.

It had a very interesting concept but they spent a lot of time developing a system that doesn't work for a large number of players and then making it very hard to get into the game and enjoy it with a lot of their business models. A nice try and it's worthy of having players that's for sure. I just feel that they're trying to ring as much money out of it as they can before it goes off the airwaves in the next couple of years.

Wow even in a contest the haters have to come out and spew their BS.

  • SoldarithSoldarith Member Posts: 184

I'm just trying to figure out why on Earth would they giveaway just a processor. It just seems odd to me. An uber video card? I could understand. A full gaming system? I could understand. A uber display? I could understand. Heck, even another electronic trinket like an iPad. I could understand. But a lone CPU chip? That's just weird to me.

No, I don't care for the game. However, I'm not going to sit here and bash the contest because I dislike the game. I'm just trying to figure out why in the world they decided to crank out a cpu as a prize...

I won't enter. But I wish those that do the best of luck. I just don't really see that many people sitting around with a motherboard that can fit the chip thinking to themselves, "Man, my entire system rocks except for my cpu -- if only I could replace it "...

Using the word hater(s) in a post is synonymous with the word troll.

The correct word is critic btw.

I passed, because I am not interested in playing their game, let someone who actually wants that prize enter.

Critics make intelligent arguments based on facts.  'This game is dying..lol i feel sorry for the lifetimers...etc' is just pure trolling.

Anyways, i entered the contest since i have a motherboard to go with the CPU. Hoping for the best ;)

Well, if that is trolling, then there are swarms of trolls both here and also on the STO forums as well.  You can bring your argument to the long time supporters turned trolls over there in STO land and see what they have to say.

As it happens... there are a lot of blue names over there that fit your troll description.

On a good note, good luck on your entry.  I hope  you win something.

    Hahaha! So true!

Actually, I'm wondering why Cryptic decided to be such cheapos and give away 10 month subscriptions instead of lifetime subscriptions.

Are you serious? I played the free weekend and the game is still utter crap.

I currently have an i5, and my motherboard is i5/i7 compatible, so I'm hoping I win the CPU. If I win the game time it'll sit untouched for 10 months (I'll probably just post in the forums, which are the only fun part of the game.) I got my fill during the free weekend.

Because the last time they give lifers something. A few months later they ended giving away their goodies to the masses, of course for a price. So been a lifer in STO means absolutely nothing to Cryptic.  image

Sure wish MMORPG had teamed up with some other game to do this one.

    I'll pass as well.

So since the contest involves Cryptic does that mean you get a CPU, but need to buy the connecting pins from an item shop? Is it a lot smaller than a standard i7? Do you only get the packaging with nothing on the inside?

    I don't get it, what's the catch?

    Nevermind, figured it out.
