The "assassin"(could also be known as Thief or Bandit) is the guy in cool black to the far left. And some of the skill videos show some enemy NPCs dressed like that. None of this is confirmation but it makes it sound more likely.
Reason you made this thread: You are slightly drunk.
While these are some cute additions to the profession selection page from the main website, anyone who has actually seen the shadowy silhouettes surrounding the 3 revealed classes (warrior, elemental, and ranger) should be able to tell that none of these additions even come close to matching them. Close, but no cigar...
"Everyone dies. It is how one lives that matters." Artemis Entreri (R.A. Salvatore)
"P.S. MAKE NO DEALS WITH THE WOLF." -Durzo Blint-
"But, there is one they fear.
In their tongue, he is Dovahkiin -- Dragonborn!" -Game of the Century-
I'm certain the person who made that picture is well aware that the silhouettes do not fit. The artwork pasted here is nevertheless, official profession artwork.

OP has no idea what he is taking about. There are 3 major groups who practically rule the world. They are the three that effect your story depending on which faction you decide to roll with. One of those groups is based heavily on assassination and controls.
So.... lore-wise, assassin's make perfect sense. Though they probably won't be called assassin's anymore, just because assassins depicts a certain role, and not a proffesion. The same reason why warriors aren't called tanks. While they MAY be able to single target kill effectively, that won't be all they can do.

Uh, Warrior is an ancient name while tank is something invented for EQ. And besides, warrior is a general melee fighter in GW while the classical tank is about taking damage and crowd control. Not the same thing at all.
I guess anyways that Assassin will be added to a larger group, like Rogue instead. It would make a lot of more sense since you could use a class like that for all races, and then have an assassin spec for some. The wider the classes are, the easier can you make a character that fits you great.
Warriors will be knights, soldiers, gladiators and other melee experts and I am sure that the other classes will have many options too.
