Checkout these screens of EQ2 in the Sundered Frontier/Greater Faydark. My FPS was between 30-60 in SF and 50-60 in Greater Faydark in pretty much every area and that is with max settings in shader 1 (shader 3 has awful lighting) except Shadows. Everything else maxed out. 16x Anistropic Filtering, 4x Anti-Aliasing.
PC Specs:

Geforce GTX 460
4gb 800mhz Ram
Windows Vista 32 bit
Still think EQ2 looks awful compared to Aion? In-game is where the difference is truly seen. Aion seems so low resolution and plain compared to the newest EQ2 zones (except the character models, Aion is amazing). However, people definitely aren't giving EQ2 a chance based on its reputation. When EQ2 goes free-to-play, it will be coinciding with game update 57 and all of the performance/UI improvements that come along with it.

All the pixels in the world won't make up for bad art design. sorry, but I've never liked EQ2's style. Just my opinion though.
Agree, the old zones don't have the best art design. I actually subscribe to both EQ2 and Aion and have been enjoying both games for what they are. Aion, although lacking in total content.. the content it does have at the moment is all very good and fun. EQ2 is like a buffet of PvE content, however the old content is lacking in art/style/quality compared to alot of the new content.
Quazz,
Bad art Design, and not liking a certain art style are completely different monsters. Its like you being a fan of Modern Art, and saying the Mona Lisa is Bad Art because you do not like its art Style.
EQ2's Flavor is good, but some people did not like it because it was "Small Scale symulacrum". Meaning, the mountains were not drawn in proportion to the rest of the world... the rivers were little trickles and so on. EQ2 was not "drawn to scale" so to speak, and that makes the world have a certain small block feel to it.
Many of the new games today show everything to the scales they are supposed to be at... but for that same reason, you have alot of invisible walls and other things you could not cross... EQ2 had, on the other hand, very small use of invisible walls and almost anything you could see in the zone, you could go to, or climb or what-not.
EQ2 has always been sub par and it looks even worse in motion.
Not sure what the screenshots are supposed to show but I see the same thing I always have.. Terrible.
Awesome pics! The game is beautiful. It's funny when people troll a performance increase)
I've never had a problem with the art. In fact, I've always been impressed by it. Kingdom of Sky blew my mind when it came out, and I still love the view when travelling from one sky island to the other. I'd like to know how you got those massive pictures in though. The only screenshot I have at the moment is of an underwater scene ( I sooo missed underwater combat while I was gone), and it doesn't show up very large. You can click it though. See how nice the underwater distortion is? I don't understand how anyone could have a problem with that. I noticed that one responder lists WoW as a game he/she plays, and I think it comes down to artistic preference. That game is too scrambled for me. Excessive and disjointed, like looking at a cartoon. I'm not knocking it, just saying it doesn't fit my taste.
There...I said something; now be quiet while I kill this.
Nice screens, thanks for sharing.
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.
