A forum post on the official Everquest II forums indicates that developers have run into a glitch and that Everquest 2 Extended, the free-to-play version of the game, will not deploy until August 19th. EQ2X was expected to launch today and developers are cautiously optimistic that they can try again on the 19th.
As happens in the world of technology, we've experienced some unexpected glitches and unfortunately we will be delaying the launch of EQ2X. We are now hoping to launch on Thursday, August 19th.
We apologize for the inconveniece, and thank you for your patience.
Keep track of developments regarding EQ2X in this forum thread.

Sad thing... but then what is one day delay...
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
its been 2 days already was supposed to release on the 17th
Second delay.
the EQ2x cashshop started to show up on the live servers, well must have been the EU servers since rest of the live servers already were down as part of the "big" update planned for yesterday, am quite sure this is the glitch in question.
damn it I want my money back!! haha
I guess a couple of days isn't bad .Hope they sort it soon should be fun to give it a try .
seems like an extended free trial with all the restrictions.

It pretty much is just a longer trial of the game. Anything worthwhile requires a good deal of money.
Looking at the FAQ it looks like their idea of "Free" is radically different from Turbine's.
In DDO (and LOTRO from what I have heard) you can play for free, and earn TP through questing, which you can use to unlock all the non-free content with the only exception being premium status. And that only requires a $6 purchase of TP one time IIRC.
If I am reading the FAQ correctly, free and Silver players will not be able to use any decent loot or upgrade their abilities to any useful level. Restricted to four races and eight classes. In a game which boasted the largest race and class selection of any MMO this is ridiculous even if it is free. It'd be like playing DDO and being allowed to do all of the quests, but not being able to recieve any enhancments or use items that are +3 or better. Might be cool for those who have never played to get an idea of how the game works, but anyone who makes it to level 30+ might as well pay for a subscription anyway.
I for one welcome an easy way of checking if the engine has improved at all... I started running out of usernames a while ago.
That's all many of the freemium games are, but some worse than others.
they just keep on delaying it... im very sad about it because they have gotten my hopes up 2 times and still havnt delivered ....
Ah, this must be your first experience with $OE. Prepare for a lot more disappointment my friend.
At least they aren't making you wait a month or two good lord people.
I hear EQ2X is going to have Beastlords /ducks
Hm, i'm waiting this for 2 days
Let's call it bad start for EQ-Ex
This game reminds me of Dungeon Runners. There are so many restrictions on the "free" players. Nothing worse that getting loot you can't use because you are a "free" player. Worse implementation of f2p in any game bar none. Only SOE could come up with such a piece of crap. At least in Turbine's model, I can pretty much buy any of the content access that I want and then sub later if I like it.
The server is still down, anyone know of it will go online today ?
or has it moved to an ather date again ?
the character modeling was bad back in that day (and thanks to sony, still today). We know developers were not getting laid back then so they had no idea what a naked girl looked like, so I can understand why they got the body dimensions all out of whack. but c'mon, geeks get laid a LOT nowadays, there's no excuse for the pathetic models this game uses today.
Honestly...Can we be surprised if SOE fails at this as well?
Turnbine lets players level to 50 but only give them free quests to level 25
SoE lets players level to 80 and gives them free quests to 80 as well. Full free excess to the 6 previous expansions.
Some people have a weird conception of what fail means.
I assume your talking about DDO . level 25 in DDO would take a lot long to get to than level 25 in other games as the leveling systems differentt , In Lotro its level 50 under f2p out of 65 levels . So I think your under some misconception of what the free amounts of each game is .
Can anyone explain this...
Was the FULL VERSION (the real game) supposte to launch today, or was it the BETA?
If it was the beta, is it OB or CB? And were can I sign up for beta testing, if so?
I just got email about starting the eq2x beta...downloading now
It is the full game including its' cash shop which is now live. The BETA is just part of the live testing so expect bugs in the first days.
