been following this game on mmorpg, its gotten a lot of really bad press. from the looks of that video, the bad press is well deserved.
IF THE ONLY DEFENCE FOR CRITICISM OF A GAME IS CALLING SOMEONE A TROLL OR HATER, THAT SAYS A LOT ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE GAME
what kind of settings and comp was that video shot on, that looked awfull even by ever quest 1 standards, so glitchy jittery and down right jangly. even the terrain hills were all sharp angles no slopes just polygons the size of football fields.
I agree it looks jittery, but the environments look fine. This game features enough nitpicking as is.

I think most will agree that game-play trumps gfx any day... But, I can't speculate about the former since I haven't played since beta.
I got a Benny Hill feeling when I saw this
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
ah you get to see the awesome textures used on most of the grass plains.. amazing thats gotta be the best use of the unreal 3 engine i have ever seen.. err wait..
They are using Grome world engine for the world and Unreal for the other objects in the world, like rocks, mobs, houses ect.
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
For the development team having pushed the slower / more realistic combat idea down our throats for so long I find it hard to believe they allow people to run so damned fast, I saw in that video people moving as fast as a horse and also some fairly obvious hackers (I use to play with people with hacks and know what to look for); combat just looks like a mess no matter what angle you look at it.
I hope this game dies so another more deserving sandbox MMO steps up to the plate... I hate saying it but Darkfall combat looks SLOWER than MO combat, now that's fucked up.

I cant believe how bad this looks!! What have they done?? I recall seing videos that looked great....
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

Yes the game looks aweful on the lowest settings trying to get decent FPS in a large battle whilst filming....
No none of those people were hacking the horse was not full speed if he was keeping up (in MO you have several different horse speeds)
I use to play MO don't BS me, I know horses move faster than people but comparing what a horse should be able to do in real life to MO the horses in MO move near the speed of sound. They went over board on how quickly people move end of story.

Don't call BS, horses now have multiple modes of speed. You tap the forward key to speed up but there's a small cooldown between going up each speed level, a person with maxed sprinting will easily keep up for the first few speed levels on your horse.
I was calling BS on the no one was hacking part, I know what you say in regards to the horses and how they work is truth because like I said, I use to play. I still feel as though horses and people move too fast, but that's just my opinion, why? because it makes combat look like a mess and less tactical overall.

I really like the video, though it's a bit choppy - at least a lot choppier than it ever looks on my screen when playing. Taking video often does that, though.
In any event, these are some great battles! It's really heating up in Nave.
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
Also, judging by the size of the chat box at 1:13 bevo is either editing the video quite a bit, or playing at pretty low graphics settings. I know that the chat takes up ALOT less space on my screen.
Indeed Guilds are becoming a lot more active and I've seen quiet a few new people around. I would like to stress the video is taken on the lowest settings for playability purposes whilst filming.
To see the game on maximum settings i'd refer you to this thread.

We don't have - High res textures nor are these the final meshes/textures/whatever else but it's more than adequate for graphics.
Edit; After seeing the video again, I see he's sped up parts. That's not hacking it's just in fast motion (Many hacking claims were made when Sharantil of Myrm first posted sped up videos but clearly it's just editing to make it more interesting.)
Damn that day was fun. The patch really got this game going and I just wanted to share that I am absolutely loving this game!
Hate to say this but you've not done MO any favours posting this vid. Look pretty crap tbh.
There are the select few who will look at that video and think it is great. I think those are the folks that truely enjoy MO. Most folks will look at that and get a chuckle. The best parts of that video was the music that Bevo added to it and the playermade map overview.
Honestly I think this video should be required viewing for prospective purchasers. If you get juiced watching the video you will probably like the game. If you think it looks like Benny Hill on steroids.. you probably won't.
All time classic MY NEW FAVORITE POST! (Keep laying those bricks)

Agreed ^^
You will probably find that since the patch that was probably the only day you would have seen crap like that, after that day the numbers went back to crap again, they all only logged in to test the new shit plain and simple, the biggest force or amount of ppl in game atm are the TOP alliance which mainly comprise of a bunch of retards pretending they can fight, this video shows that with the battle with TOP/WSX vs Ascension.
There is some interesting stuff in the next few patches but i dont think they can save this game, Not Trolling here i have 2 active accounts, the game is a mess, i would love for it to be what they said we would have at release but unfort we dont, i would love for it to be a success but i honestly cant see that happening.
Lets put it this way, what you seen in that Vid is probably 75-80% of the games community, i am sure Henrik said they would need 10k subs after a few months to stay afloat..........
The thing that makes me sad about this game is that it is turning into a cluster fuck of alliances, gonna eventually get to the point that if your not in an alliance your fucked....sorry but this game is shaping into a right royal turd
Well Wessex isn;t in an alliance and we do fine for ourselves... Many more players now constantly online. It's great.
Well you can say your not in an alliance, maybe not officially but if you tend to hang around certain large groups of people for extended amounts of time then yeah your pretty much in an alliance of sorts, and come on Many more players constantly online??? i need to go where your at, because when i logged in tonight for the first 2 hours there was 3 ppl in town...3 god damn ppl, lol in pretty darn major town in game (Fabernum) ran to Meduli, (another major Town/city) wasn't much better, maybe 5 no 1 in between, get back to Fab BAM now we have 4 lololololol c'mon like i said before i am not trolling i am saying it how it is, i'm sorry but i have not seen anymore ppl stay after the last patch to what was there before it.
I want it to be more like that Vid all the time, but only a small portion of ppl are enjoying it right now, not even the PK guilds are pking lol because there are hardly any of them playing
I have to say - I don't think the graphics look right on min, max, or whatever. Obviously there were issues with the graphics in the vid where everyone was walking on air and horses stood out from the hill rather than on the hill. I assume this is fixed at highest settings? Strange, though, because I've never seen another game do this even on low settings.
But what I noticed on the vid, and it also proved true in those screenshots, was the disjointed style of the graphics. It's as if there were 3 different lead artists with 3 completely different concepts of what this game should look like. You have the very realistic-looking clouds. The mountains in the background of the vid look amazing - more like a photo than a video game, although I couldn't help but notice they look strangely detached from the sky, as if they were green-screened onto a background. But anything that is close-up lacks detail. The wonderfully detailed-looking graphics from far away just kind of melt into blurs of color close-up. As for the thread you linked, it wasn't much better. The trees look cartoonish, almost WoW style - which is in stark contrast to those mountains we saw in the vid. The buildings look straight out of Counterstrike and are a completely different art style from anything else. One thing that is consistent thoughout is that you have gray, cloudy skies with extremely harsh shadowing. To look at the landscape you think you're looking at about 4:00 pm on a hot, sunny day in the desert but then you look up and see nothing but clouds.
I haven't played this game and I find the idea of a harsh, open, and hopefully highly-populated world to be very intriguing. But I have to agree with the people railing on these graphics. The elements taken individually look great but as a whole they are disjointed, confusing, and in no way create whatever mood MO is supposed to have.
I was pleasantly surprised when I went from Apprentice to full 5 star Elite in under 2 months. I was pleasantly surprised again when I went from Elite to just barely Hardcore in 2 weeks. Apprentice, here I come!
I would never claim the graphics are good, their not. But it's more than adequate for game play.
Edit; However weather is dynamic and the clouds move depending on the weather. It's not a static box.
The video is a good reminder as to why I don't like FFA PvP games(jerky, bugged, rubber bandy movement where a successful attack is as much about having the packets align as it is skill).
But, if the patch is getting those that enjoy it out there with some larger scale battles, I call it a win for MO.
Here's to FFAPvP players finding a bit of fun!
