Hey, just wondering if any of you are gonna give GW a try. I wasn't but it's peaked my interest of late. Plus it's free so I figured what the hell, it's worth a shot.

Yup ... bought it a while back and love it. It's going to be my change of pace game - well one of them hehe.
I think Fadeus plans to play some too. Don't know who else. I know I won't be there much but maybe we can all get something going.

Im pretty much going to be playing it part time too Wickes. You, Fadeus, and I should get something going since we're probably going to be playing it the same amount of time. I guess we could figure out the details when it comes time.
Former Eq2 player, going to buy guild wars.
I am guild wars is amazing so far.
I have, i like it better personaly
Could be good for the casual player but I can't see it having much roleplaying/immersion. Good for a quick pvp fix though
I'm ex-EQ2 but holding out for Mourning.
I am not only gonna try it, but since there is no monthly I will be playing it. I plan to get it when it comes out. I did a beta weekend and loved it.

GW is an awsome game I have been playing beta and just love it, matter of a fact I stopped playing eq1 and 2because I lost interest in it, and I find GW is the best yet and its just what I was looking for in a game , I paid for the delux edition right away..now if I can just keep from having GW withdrawl I'll make it to the 15 of april.
I tried both of the open weekend betas and I couldn't bring myself to like the game. It's got great graphics, a very innovative steaming content system, and cool items and bosses, but the content's just not there. Sure, there's a handful of instances that you can run and whatnot but the game is centered solely around PvP. You can only run the instances so many times before getting absolutely bored out of your mind, since the only reason why they're there is to collect items and level up.
In conclusion, it's a great game if you're into PvP and don't want to grind out 50+ levels just so you can hold your own in PvP, but for those that are looking for a game with lots of content, this is not it. Hell, it's not even a MMORPG.
Anyway, how much or how little content there is is debatable. It's not even out for retail yet, plus it's technically only at "chapter 1" so far. I personally think it already has tons to offer. But yes, it does lean more towards pvp (despite there being 20x more pve areas than pvp). It's balanced for pvp from the ground up, rather than it being a poorly implemented after thought. A huge plus in my book. Regarding "immersion/rpg", I'll say that instancing actually increases this over the rentals. It allows you to interact with the environment in ways you don't see traditionally. I'd say that makes the rpg element deeper (pvp too for that matter).
Someone also mentioned something about agreeing to meet on the same server? Not even a factor. It's all one inter-connected world pretty much. There are no "server" limits restricting who you can play with. There are "districts", for load balancing and such, but you're not locked in and can go where you want. You can play with anyone, anywhere. Simple as that. You'll generally want to meet up in the same districts though, to for a party. If you're in a guild, it will often automatically put you together anyway.

Didn't create this thread for idiots like you to come and flame Eq2.
Actaully you do us a favor by not playing Eq2. Lord knows you'd be shit to group with. By the way, don't play GW eithier, we would all appreciate it.
"Every game has thier good points and bad points, its all a thing of to each thier own of liking a game. However if you dont like the game there is no need to get that irrate, all you need to say is it was not your kinda game
I for one played EQ 1 & 2 and I enjoyed it, but for me it got boring, mind you I did play for a long time so I did give it a chance. Then GW beta came out and I tried it and found it to be just the game Im looking for, so far it has my interest and ill play till that wears off also.
mind you I wont turn around and get angry and criticize the game or the people who play it, thats not only disrespectfull but its also not nice.
now please dont turn around and get nasty with me im only adding my thoughts to this matter and would rather not get into a board fight, even tho I can hold my own I like knowing Im above that.
