Comments
1) It is hard to say what you will like, everyone has different tastes, but certain classes have an easier time starting up than others. Hunters for example. If you are interested in doing instances doing the line however on a regular basis, then making a tank or healer class could be a good idea. Be warned though that those are the hardest class to play in instances, so if you play one keep in mind people(that will behave like jerks) will expect you to save their butts from the fire they charged in.
I can suggest you try a Druid as well, or a Paladin if the hunter is not good. Both these classes, the druid especially, have elements of ALL roles: tank, healer and dps. So you can have a little taste of all. Be advised though that druid can be a tad long to level up to 20... then you get cat form and it gets way easier.
2) The server you play on makes all the difference. Unfortunately, I play on EU server, so I cannot tell you about US server. You have to decide on the type of server you want to play on, however. There are 4 in total: PvE, PvP, Roleplaying and Rp-PvP. Each of them has its own rulesets and you can read about it here: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/realmtypes.html
Beside the type, keep an eye on how full the realm is. Ideally go for the Recommended ones or medium ones. Going on full ones might mean queues but they do tend to be the most active.
3) You do not strictly need a "good" build until later on in the game, so you can experiment on your own and yes, talents can be respecced with a little expense of gold from your trainer. That said, you can find millions of help on how to make builds all over the internet. One good stop are actually the class forums of WoW itself that always have stickies of people telling a lot of stuff about the classes, including talent descriptions, build for all specs etc etc so check them out.
Advice? yes! have fun and try to do some friends in-game as soon as possible! Join a good guild and you will be set.

Thanks for all the anwsers!
But i got one other question, is there a difference in a human warrior or dwarven warrior?
Or doesn't it matter which class and race you combine?
There are minimal differences between races too.
Like handling certain weapons, being able to counter fear, counter bleeding effects etc...
It is best to go to www.wowwiki.com and do some research on the racial differences and classes.
Example: http://www.wowwiki.com/Human_(playable)
Thousands of pages to wade through but very well structured.
You'll also have a blast when reading upon the background story of Warcraft (all games and series).
It is so much better to know which NPC and its former history is talking to you.
Nice thank you!
Can't wait to start playing, i am still on vacation
And how is the community? is everyone helpfull to new people?
The community depends upon the server but in general you will always find helpful people though unfortunately with the popularity of the game there is also a large number of people that seem to get their pleasure from being obnoxious and difficult.
As to what class to play Blizzard has worked on the game enough now that there is no really awful class to level any more as each class has three different specifications that you can select from that in general allow them to perform well enough to level solo and reasonably quickly. You really want to pick a class that you feel some sort of connection with as that will give you the most enjoyment.
At later levels in the game when you need or want to group each class brings with it a speciality that is needed to allow the group to succeed. The two building block classes are tanks and healers. Tanks being a person that can stand in front and take large amounts of damage and the healer naturally keeps healing them so that they don't die. While these two are doing their job the other people in the group can contribute to overcoming the various mobs and bosses to allow the group to succeed. With WoW they have developed not only traditional single role classes such as a Warrior or Priest but also hybrid classes such as Paladins and Druids. This along with the specilization trees allow a fair degree of customization in what roll each class can perform.
There really are two distinct parts to playing WoW. The first part is the getting to the level cap (currently 80) and the second is what you do once you reach that. Each part is radically different than the other though it is important to learn your class well in the first part to be able to perform to your best in the second.
Two of the easier classes to level but not necessarily the easiest to play are the pet classes of Hunter and Warlock. Both of these have enough variety and capability to be interesting to play and the ability of the pet to perform the role of a tank or damage dealer adds a lot of versatility.
The two in demand roles of Warrior and Priest can be a bit harder and slower to level but both have specifications (Fury for Warrior and Shadow for Priest) that allow them to focus on doing damage which compensates a lot for this.
The two hybrid classes of Paladin and Druid can do a bit of everything from tanking and healing to doing damage but of the two the Paladin is probably the easiest and quickest to level but in my opinion Druids are both more challenging and more fun. Oh, and I almost forgot about Shamen who are also hybrid classes and fun to play.
The two raw damage classes (DPS) of Mage and Rogue tend to be able to chew through vasts amount of mobs quickly but can be easily overwhelmed.
Death Knights are a interesting off spec class that are pretty easy to level and quite fun to play.
And then you have the basic issue of are you going to focus on battling other players (PvP) or against the game (PvE). You can do PvP on any server but there are dedicated PvP servers which expand where and when players can attack an kill each other.
Pick a class play it to about level 20 and if you aren't sure then try another class. You can get to level 20 quite quickly and it will give you a bit of the flavor of each class but none of them really start to come into their own until at least level 30.
Good luck and have fun.
It's funny, you mentioned in your first post about what class to level. I would basically say anything but warrior. Warriors are the only class that doesn't have a real emergency button while leveling, so they sometimes die a slow death. I think something like a Retribution Pally is probably the easiest. it is basically a warrior, but it can heal itself. Really though, any class is fairly easy to level through questing.. it's just that every once in awhile, your warrior might get 'trapped' and die where other classes have an escape or heal mechanism.
I will probably go for a paladin! I always liked to be a warrior in other mmorpg's because they are always in the middle of the fight! And its the same fighting style but only much safer. But when i do instances as a paladin, do I always need to be a healer or tank or can i be a dps to? Because maybe they prefer other classes for dps. But dont misunderstand me, i love to be a tank but i red a lot of story's of tanks who get insulted by the other players when something goes wrong! And as a new player I am afraid nobody is going to want to learn me...
This thread has some great advises. I would like to mention some things that were not discussed:
SERVER:
Be aware, PvP servers are OPEN PvP once you move away from your starting zones. Meaning, if you are a level 30, a level 80 enemy can attack you without consent. That, in turn means you die in 2-3 shots. That in turn means you will not be able to continue with whatever you were doing if the person is a lil kid who got grounded by his mommy and now he takes his anger on you by camping your corpse. If you can handle this, then you can play on PvP server. If you can't handle that - stay away from PvP. One little details to meantion, when you die from PvP, you lose nothing but time and effort to get your corpse back. You don't even have to repair your armor from it. Its just frustrating to be able to do nothing. Some peeps may suggest "get a 80 buddy to help you", well sure if hes ready at the moment notice to help you. Still, it will take a few minutes for him to reach your corpse and get rid of the enemy (if he can, some peeps are VERY good at PvP and can survive 1 vs 3,4,5 ...).
I first joined a PvP server and my top toon was 45, had several 30+ toons and few 20+. I had to switch because I grew tired of enemies killing me, killing my quest mobs (preventing me from completing a quest so I have to start all over), etc etc. I grew tired of it and moved to PvE server. I can PvP any time I want - the difference is, if I don't want to PvP, I wont. No one can force me to PvP. They can still gank my quest mobs to grief, but since its not an open PvP environment, enemies do not activaely seek out opposite faction to "grief" them.
IMPORTANT: pick a server from YOUR time zone and make sure that in your battlegroup, most servers are also from your time zone. Example: if you live on East Coast, pick a server from Stormstrike or Ruin battlegroups. This is important for dungeon crawling, you can group with people from different servers within the same battlegroup. There were no battlegroups at the time of release, and I did not know which server I was playing, so now Im stuck with 4 level 80s and a bunch of 70+ chars playing on a Pacific server from East Coast with only 2 other East Coast servers. This means less people play at peak times (evenings, whene everyone is home), which means it takes longer to get a group for dungeon crawl. Link to the list of battlegroups and servers: http://www.wowwiki.com/US_realm_list_by_datacenter
RP or non-RP servers do not matter. There is little enforcement of RP on RP servers.
CLASS:
To quickly answer quoted text: Paladin can be everything - Tank, healer or DPS. A very versatile class. Druid can be everything as well. Other classes are limiting to 2 roles or 1. Warlock/Rogue/Mage/Hunter are DPS exclusively. Warrior: DPS/Tank, shaman/priest: DPS/Heals. Easiest to level: Paladin/Hunter, although this is very subjective. Some people play one class stronger then the other. I, for example, cannot play rogue well. I always fall on DPS. But, with paly or hunter, I basically never die. Tanks are always in great demand, so if you play hardcore, in order to avoid LFGing, best to make someone that can tank (Warrior/Paladin/Druid). However, wait times aren't that bad, sometimes I wait for 15 minutes as a DPS, and sometimes only 2-3. However, if you are not a very good player (your personal skills aren't good), then its best to be a DPS. If you are a bad tank/healer, your group will not be as good and may even wipe resulting in people leaving your group, waiting for a replacement, etc etc. A sucky DPS is not that critical.
When I say "Paladin can be everything" I mean that you pick one job (from Talent tree) and you are stuck with it, unless you respec. First 2-3 respecs are cheap, but then its like 50 gold for each respec? If you are starting up, 50 gold can be a bit too much. So pick your job wisely. At 40 (I think) you can dual spec. Meaning you can pick another job from the talent tree and then you can switch between those 2 for free as many times as you want. If you want to take the 3rd job that was left, you would have to drop one of the 2 current jobs and pay the respec fee.
COMMUNITY:
There are a lot of people playing this game, so expect a lot of bad people. But, there are a lot of decent ones too. Just yesterday I had a BLAST dungeon crawling BRD (a mid level huge dungeon). Our tank and DPS were a bit low (mobs were orange/red to them), I was a druid healer and mobs were yellow to me. So the tank and DPS had hard time tanking and killing mobs well. But, I had decent items so it did not matter much. However, during several boss fights (one of them lasted about 7-8 minutes!!) we had so much fun because it was so challenging! We wiped twice, but the experience was incredible. When we killed the final boss, we just stood there chatting. We were all from different servers, so there was no way we could group again in the future, unles by accident (when you join dungeon crawl group, people are picked by the server, you can't invite people from across the server). That was one of the most incredible experiences I've had. Just don't despair
Hope this helps! Enjoy WoW. Good luck and have fun!

So i have to chose if i will be a dps tank or healer from the start?
Well i wanna go dps pala, or those any good? Or or the other classes better at dps...
Well, to level up it's always better to go dps faster and more fun than going with a Healing or tanking spec, however the tanking classes got improved compared to what they were pre BC, so you can level up fast with tanks too by picking up lots of mobs, however it requires more skills than a DPS spec
Well, you get your first talent point at 10 i believe... thats when you pick which talent tree to invest into. You can mix them up so you don't have to be pure DPS or pure tank, but I don't think that is a good idea... So, first you chose who you want to be. If you want to group all the time, you can pick tank/heals - but, expect some downtime, as you may not be able to instantly find a group being a healer (they aren't as much in demand as tanks), or being either and playing in odd hours. Tank/heals do not solo well, you can, but downtime is much greater then DPS soloing - you sacrifice soloing for the faster grouping. You have this limitation (single spec) till 40, at which time you can dual spec and this problem disappears.
EDIT: Id say go DPS till 40, at lower levels you can actually tank being a DPSer, depends on the healer and your personal skills and items. Then at 40, buy dual spec and add tank or heals, whichever u like.

Hello everyone,
I just bought world of warcraft and i have a couple of questions.
First which class is a good class for a beginner?
I agree that Paladin is a good starting class. And, if you like casting claases, I really like a Warlock. They are usually near the top of any damage meter, and there is something about putting damage over time spells on someone and watching them run off to die.
What server should i play or doesnt it make a difference?
I struggled with this big time. I leveled a death knight on a PvP server and I had a horrble experience doing so. I then transferred to several PvE servers and found the community extremely childish to the point that I had dozens on my ignore list. I recently moved to Scarlet Crusade, and I am really enjoying the community. Is it perfect?...no. But, it is the most mature that I have found yet.
Do i need to look up a build or so? Or cant i ruin my char with wrong stats? (this question i really want anwsered!)
Don't even worry about this.
Advice: Take your time leveling your character. Most people rush and miss out on a ton of good content and complain that the game is boring. Enjoy your time in Azeroth!
I'd say go with a druid/shaman or warlock..you can kill thing before they get to you, thus decreasing your risk of dying! I just like the big balls of light though..
Okay i think all my questions are answered now!T
hank you all very much for helping me out! I'll let you guys know how my game experience was
Okay I am ready to play now but i dont know which server i should chose!
I want a pve server and my timezone is GMT +1 Belgium!
can someone help?

Scroll down, you will find EU servers: spanish, french, german, etc.

I am playing blackhand, pve german server!
First impressions of game:
- combat style is nice
- first lvl's go fast
- easy to find everything
- community on server: very nice! haha. some guy just gave me 205 gold
Someone gave u 205 gold? thats awesome! Don't spend it before you learn the ropes and know where you can spend it wisely and where spending is just wasting it. Generally I never bought any gear when I was not rich - why buy when you can loot? Buy bags, imbued netherweave or just plain netherweave - save the rest of money for skills, professions and recepies (if you are into trading, you can earn some serious $ at high level of some professions). See if you can join that guy's guild -if you get lucky, his guild is just as nice as he is.
Good luck and return the favor, if someone was nice to you, be nice to someone else - help them out with a quest or pas on the item if they need it badly and you do not.

Just a last comment on how the whole Tank/Heal/DPS works.
Basically as a paladin you will have the basic tools to do either of those. As a paladin you will have healing spells, taunts and damaging abilities, so even if you, say, specced as a Tank, can still heal and do dps when needed. You won't be as good in it as someone specialized as a healer or dps but you will manage, at least for a good while.
It is a old belief that you can go to dungeons under level 60 without the proper spec. Personally I never tried this out but that is what they say.
There is one important point though to consider here, Equipment. While it is true that your paladin will have healing abilities, if you do not have healing friendly equipment, you won't do much. This is not very important in the first dungeons (level 20) but as you proceed it will become more and more important, so many hybrid classes collect 2 sets of equipment.
Have fun and good luck.
