Most likely GW2 but you can never be sure what Bioware cooks up.

Star craft 2 might be fun but I never spend more than a few weeks with a RTS game, it is fun for a while but can't keep me occupied in the long run.

I do not believe Bioware will be able to pull off a MMORPG, and the game appears simply to be an OSPRPG w/chat.

I have no idea why DCU is on that list when it is neither on the Top Voted in Development nor Most Popular lists.

Where are titles like Rift, WH40K, FFXIV, etc?

Though I have no interest in Rift nor FFXIV - I might look at WH40K, possibly.

Meh, I dunno wh40k looks a lil too wowish if you ask me....     I just mean the graphics and cartoony appeal of the game.

I think gw2 is shaping up to be a really awesome game, you should consider checking it out.

Lets point out that GW2 is not going to be anything like GW as far as player to player interaction. GW2 will be a persistent world. You will find players in the city hubs as well as out in the world. Also they are getting rid of the grind design because they, meaning the developers, realized that isnt always fun. Not sure if thats why you are not interested, but I thought I point that out since many are comparing it to GW for those two reasons which have nothing to do with each other.

I cant say for sure if bioware will be successful since this is there first MMORPG, but we all know, those who have played there RPG games, that they develope well written stories. We just hope they can fill in the rest.

DCU, it may not be on said "Top Lists" but I think you will be surprised that there is a bigger following then you think.

Rift as I stated on pages 2, I didnt hear anything about it until someone posted it in this post and dont know much about it and I wasnt impressed with FFXIV in alpha testing. But then again it is alpha testing and not everything is optimized and in game. Not to mention the reduction of xp penalty the longer you play which is being spoken about here... http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/288260/XP-gets-penalized.html

Cartoony appeal of WH40K?  Have you watched the trailers?  Are you familiar with WH40K at all?

As for comparing either WAR or WH40K with WoW, for over the 9000th time - Warcraft ripped off Warhammer and Blizzard hired Fisher-Price to do their graphics.

The WH40K:DM graphics appear to be an improved version of the DoW2 graphics - which are very close to the actual artwork from WH40K...which is nowhere near cartoony.

The thing I do not like about WH40K is how it is going to be pretty much scenario based - more like a mmo DoW3 than an actual WH40K mmorpg... but WH40K rocks!

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

I picked SWTOR, mainly because of the sheer amount of time I plan on putting into each class. To experience each story and each advanced class, I'll be spending forever in that game, which is a good thing.

  • heartlessheartless Member UncommonPosts: 4,993

Guild Wars 2. After reading up on and and watching the recent gameplay videos, there really is no other option. The people who run ArenaNet are the same people who made Blizzard what it is today and as I have enjoyed Guild Wars in the past, I have full faith that they will deliver a solid game.

Plus it won't have a monthly fee. So it's like a complete win.

I'll probably play TOR as well but that's just because I love Star Wars and have to play every Star Wars game.

At the moment no idea if any of the 3 choices will click with me, I never speculate on what game I will invest time in with just info given.

I need actual playtime to make a judgement, which probebly will mean I will try most of the upcoming games first, kinda what I do with most new released games, then after I played some I will see which game might suite me.

Relying on info given before a game is even played often sets people up for disappointment.

Don't believe the hype but believe a game when it's released or is been played before making a judgement.

OK my thoughts on the matter... TOR will do great I think bioware will do great, which is why I picked the old republic.  That being said I will definatly check out GW2 and TERA and possibly Earthrise and FFXIV.  I have high hopes for both FF and TOR and I hope they both deliver.

GW2. SWTOR in a far distant 2nd. If it were more like how SWG used to be then I'd place it in the same level as gw2.

Playing now: Cities: Skyline / Ori and the Blind Forest / Banished

  • FoomerangFoomerang Member UncommonPosts: 5,628

Honestly, FFXIV still looks the most interesting to me.  GW2 looks great and is probably gonna be a lot of fun.  But I dont see myself really logging the hours on it.  more of a pick up n play every week or so after hitting max lvl. ima run like hell from tor, and dc doesnt appeal to me at all

I am not sure it makes sense to try to estimate how much time people will play GW2 ? Not even in my own case

How much time do you play your favorite subscribtion based MMO , when you are most addicted? And do you think any of thosse titles will take you to that addiction state.

With GW2 having a anti-grind goal and no subscribtion, its actual very hard to predict wich segment of players it cather best for. My quess is still the hardcore player is more likely to burn out and be disapointed in GW2 than the causual.

Since GW2 is B2p I will play it along with a main mmorpg.

Probably EVE or maybe TOR or Earthrise if they pan out.

Its fun how these polls allways reflect the inrest of the OP...

There are so many other great choices available by then...  Rift, TEra and FF XIV among them...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

TOR for me. Waiting for this one since it's first announcement . However, since GW2 is subscription free i will buy it as well. It looks very polished and interesting. Also, i wan't to try out Black Prophecy. A F2P space MMO which puts you INSIDE the cockpit? Hell yes!

Sigh, you people honestly don't read do you?

GW2 is listeing to the people who felt GW was "too instanced" and they are making it a seamless world with the exceptions of dungeons / special tasks, like any other MMO.

GW, and all of it's campaigns never had a level grind, and they don't intend to start now.

It's all on the website / dozens of threads... http://guildwars2.com/en/

While Guild Wars 2 adds a persistent-world experience, it retains the unique characteristics of the original game, including strong narrative, extensive instanced gameplay, anti-grind design philosophy, and strong support for competitive play."

While this changes hour to hour, right now I have my eyes on:

    GW2

    The Secret World

Everquest Next (though I fear this will be a kick to my jimmies in terms of expectations versus the end product)

    World of Darkness

Rift  (maybe - I have to see how twitchy it is)

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

Of course they do. That is what polls are. The interest of the individual. What I am I supposed to do? Put out a list of games that every individual is interested in....then the list would be endless.

The poll is not mandatory, so if you dont like any of the games on the list,  dont vote.

People and there silly ideas. Guess you cant please them all.

    GW2 by a long shot.

SW:TOR doesn't sound like a good fit for me, mostly because I'm not emotionally connected to the IP.  DC Universe isn't even on the "consider it an option" list.

SWTOR, im not buying what GW2 is promising, for me and this is my opinion, it does not all add up.  Hopefully I am wrong, I do still intend to try it out, and I hope it lives up to the promises.
