Well, I gave the trial a shot, but it just wasn't enough. I really liked the game, but I would have loved to see the cities and at least get a character high enough to become something other than one of the four starting classes. I was impressed with the graphics, and how well the game ran on my system. Combat was fun, and leveling wasn't tedious. And even though I didn't try out too much crafting, I could see where it was going and how it could be extremely engaging (something other crafting systems severely lack).
Overall, it looked great, but I just didn't see enough to convince me to drop the game I am currently enjoying to make the switch. Maybe sometime in the future, but not now unless they give a longer trial.

Oh, the trial only lasts one week? I was under the impression it lasted for longer than that. Just you couldn't leave the Isle.
I think limiting you to the Isle is perfect for a trial. if you want to see the rest of the game then go buy it. Anything more and it would be a huge download and alot of people probly wouldn't try it.

Try getting a buddykey, they dont have a limit in zone. At least they didnt. I got my hands on a buddy key about a month or two ago and then it was the case. Maybe now they dont even have those anymore. I agree though, isle of refuge is easy zone, very simple and doesnt realy show you much. I got thrown off balance by FP, its complexity and navigation (I hated all those parts). I also hated quesing in EQ2, there was no way to know who has a quest for you. It took me 2 tries to actually bypass that and enjoy the game. Still, I try to spend as little time in FP or doing quests as possible.
I also dislike how u cant have a mini-map on your screen or how your bags change location after you log off or how your new chat screens disappear too after log off. GRRRR that is such a simple task to do. Makes me think hat Q2 dev team had 2 dev teams, one with experience of 10+ years in programming, and the other group is full of monkeys. Its like somebody painted a beautifull picture.. and then crapped all over it.

While I haven't had the UI issues listed by the poster above, and I use modded UIs too, I do agree that a week is probably too short for a trial. However, given they lock you down to the isle, well honestly there's not much more than a week's worth of playing assuming you put in a couple hours a day.
I can't imagine spending 10 hrs on the isle, unless you're going for your goblin slayer title or whatever.
I would like to know more about this buddy keys, though. Anyone know where that info is at?

Bags shouldn't move around on you on log out...mine never have and no one Ive ever talked to has that happen...
As for the quest and no knowing who has one for you, thats good, I don't want !! marks over NPCs heads saying hey you, quest over here! Lends to exploration some and actualy talking to the people in town and out in the world!
But yea, FP is a pain to get around But why do you want a minimap? I mean really, thats not realistic in the least...if you want a radar go play SWG or Planetside where it fits in more, or a RTS game.
Not having a map makes you learn a zone better, which makes you a better player!
My opinion on all that

Not sure if only I or a small number of people have this bag issue, I asked one person and he seemed to have same problem with bags - if we sort them (open bag, stack bags on top of each other for easy drag-n-drop) and then re-login, the order will return to default, bags are not in order, covering each other.
Anyway, I respect your opinion on the navigation and questing, to every person their own preferences. I only wanted to add that the reason I am frustrated with this is once I explore the city, once I know every NPC out there, I still wont know when and who will give me a quest. Since about 90-95% quests have a level requrements to begin them, you would have to run around all FP zones, and possibly other zones where there are NPCs every time you level! Because if you dont, chances are, you will miss out on a quest with a potential good rewad in EXP, item or fun. To me, this is not exploration but annoyance and a very time consuming task. Id rather see a ! in front of an NPC from far so I dont have to run to that NPC to check whether he or she has a quest for me. Even with htis help I would still have to travel and explore, but it would simply save me time.

I think we all pretty much know that feature exists in WoW. And what relevance does a fearture in WoW have on the Eq2 board?
Here's a feature that EQ2 has that WoW doesn't: Implied targeting.
For those of you who don't know what this is, basically you can target a teammate and hit attack or cast a spell, and the attack will hit the creature he's targeting. Or if you target a creature, you can cast a heal and heal the group member that it's attacking. Helps A LOT instead of changing targets all the time.
Ummm....
Trial of the Isle (the free trial) doesn't have a time limit. You just can't level past level 6 or leave the starter island.
As far as getting a feel for the game it does a very good job of it. And your first specialty class doesn't really start becoming significantly different from your starter class until around level 13/14. That's an awful lot to ask for an unlimited time free trial. If they allowed you off the island they'd have to time limit the trial or offer like a 14 day free subscription to the game kind of thing like SWG had back in June of last year or EVE has now.
Where you can download and play for 14 days then your account expires and you have to unlock it with a CD Key.
But that would require them to revamp how they package the trial.
