My quick 30-day rundown.

Here is a quick summary of my first month playing Mortal Online

  • Got robbed by a NPC Merchant (if you buy more then 1 item at a time from the vendor it eats one of the items)

  • Characters get disconnected from the world by hitting bad zonelines. Only fix is for a gm to teleport you which could take hours even days.

  • It's very easy to fall through mortal onlines world, you will find yourself falling through quite a bit. Atleast in my case near my keep city.

  • The AI is terrible, denizens walk right into rocks, walls, everything and let you just whack on them.

  • Item deletion bugs, removing offhand items before mainhand items will delete your offhand item. Certain ways of putting items into storage will delete items.

  • Only starter weapons is for axe and sword, even though there are alot of diffrent weapon types.

  • All beginners have to kill pigs or whack at trees to get started(for hours) even crafters (lol) with there starter axe or starter sword, so if you planned on going bow, you got alot of shit to put up with to get a bow .

  • Development team deploys patches that break the game, as in killer item deletion bugs. (For days at a time even a week before a quick-fix)

  • The community is extremely terrible (not all but atleast 60% or more are complete morons)

  • You can put in a ticket and say you lost 100g (which is alot of money) and gm will simply replace it, no questions asked, there you go 100 free gold.

  • Gm's do get involved in things during gameplay, snooping people's pockets for players, giving locations of players to players.

  • User interface is terrible

  • Everything good that is planned for Mortal Online is waiting on a so called epic (company) patch, but nobody knows when this will come, this could literally be years.

  • Taming needs alot of attention, pets will disappear, you can lose them by crossing zonelines, the pet UI is terrible, the pets even go invisible from time to time.

  • Developers change the game in ways that makes it extremely hard for newer players to get into, but does not effect the veterans at all.

  • PvP combat is terrible imo, its just plain unbalanced. Want to kill a person in 3 hits, grab a bow. Want to spam 20dmg twice every 1second grab a spear.

  • Lack of content that involved things other then killing and crafting, no gambling, no treasure chests, no treasure maps.

  • The population is very low imo, the most people I have ever seen at one spot was about 20. (anymore then that the server would have probablly crashed)

  • Horses do not log off with the player, after a few hours of server being up there will be 100's of horses bugged around towns running into walks or just eating on my memory.

  • Server stability is terrible (worst I have ever seen in a game this far into release)

Well I really wanted to like mortal online, I gave it a good go, Accumulated quite a bit of gold, got quite a few kills under my belt, tamed almost every animal in mo, got in a great guild, and also seen the awesome Cow Tunnel.

Unfortunately it just wasn't enough.

The bugs and everything else I listed was just to much for me to put up with. But as you can see it just wasn't one thing that bothers me about this game.

    • Yeah this sucks, but it only happens with items that stack on the vendor, but dont stack in your Inv (like starter sword/axe)

    • Characters get disconnected from the world by hitting bad zonelines. Only fix is for a gm to teleport you which could take hours even days.

    • Ive had this happen once to me. never had to call a GM

    • It's very easy to fall through mortal onlines world, you will find yourself falling through quite a bit. Atleast in my case near my keep city.

    • You are the first Ive heard of this happening to.

    • The AI is terrible, denizens walk right into rocks, walls, everything and let you just whack on them.

    • Yes MoB AI sucks right now. AI Update is waiting on the Epic Patch

    • Item deletion bugs, removing offhand items before mainhand items will delete your offhand item. Certain ways of putting items into storage will delete items.

    • Agree this is an irritating bug

    • Only starter weapons is for axe and sword, even though there are alot of diffrent weapon types.

    • Design Feature. You are supposed to go buy better gear, not use starter weapons

    • Every newb has to start somewhere in the world. What game doesnt start you off killing pigs/rats/weasels?

    • The community is extremely terrible (not all but atleast 60% or more are complete morons)

    • Hmmm. I find MOs community pretty nice concidering its a FFA-PvP game. Now DFOs community, thats a game full of morons

    • You can put in a ticket and say you lost 100g (which is alot of money) and gm will simply replace it, no questions asked, there you go 100 free gold.

    • Calling BS. GMs check logs before returning anything and usually dont return lost gold or mats

    • Gm's do get involved in things during gameplay, snooping people's pockets for players, giving locations of players to players.

    • Calling BS again.

    • User interface is terrible

    • Your opinion

    • Everything good that is planned for Mortal Online is waiting on a so called epic (company) patch, but nobody knows when this will come, this could literally be years.

    • Nice Exaggeration. Epic Games is not going to take years to update their engine. They are taking a bit longer with MOs patch because they are adding things that are extra just for MO

    • Taming needs alot of attention, pets will disappear, you can lose them by crossing zonelines, the pet UI is terrible, the pets even go invisible from time to time.

    • Agreed. Taming needs work

    • Developers change the game in ways that makes it extremely hard for newer players to get into, but does not effect the veterans at all.

    • game changes usually affect new players more than vets. Its this way with most games

    • PvP combat is terrible imo, its just plain unbalanced. Want to kill a person in 3 hits, grab a bow. Want to spam 20dmg twice every 1second grab a spear.

    • PvP has issues yes, but you are exaggerating a bit here

    • Lack of content that involved things other then killing and crafting, no gambling, no treasure chests, no treasure maps.

    • Future Updates. Not everything can be in the game all at once

    • The population is very low imo, the most people I have ever seen at one spot was about 20. (anymore then that the server would have probablly crashed)

    • Agreed. Population is low, but in the last week I have seen more people on than during previous weeks

    • Horses do not log off with the player, after a few hours of server being up there will be 100's of horses bugged around towns running into walks or just eating on my memory.

    • Agreed, this is irritating, but not a game breaker.

    • Server stability is terrible (worst I have ever seen in a game this far into release)

    • Server stability has been getting better with each weekly patch. Still needs work, but its better than it was

Well I really wanted to like mortal online, I gave it a good go, Accumulated quite a bit of gold, got quite a few kills under my belt, tamed almost every animal in mo, got in a great guild, and also seen the awesome Cow Tunnel.

  • vzarneotvzarneot Member Posts: 39

I did not mention any of the player vs player exploits such as unplugging the internet or screen sliding.

I did not mention any of the pet invisbile exploits.

There is alot of bad exploit things I did not mention. I was very leaniate on Mortal Online because I did have some fun. But the exploits/bugs/ and the development team overall is far below par.

    EDIT:

    Sorry Pirate missed your comments,

Wish I had proof of the gm's giving my guildies gold and the location of 3, 13 members.

They dont check no logs lol, not when people blame item deletions on server crashes..... There would be no logs in that case.

For further clarity I will show you how I can explain how the gm giving free items work.

Player 1 has enough gold to buy a house, as soon as player buys house, the server crashes. Upon returning player 1 has no gold or house. So player 1 pages gm, and gets house back.  (Trust me a house might be alot, but gms think very little of 10-20gold books)

So there ya go, I wont spell it out, I wont give people the chance to exploit this game like that.

For fruther clarity I will show you how I can explain how we got info on 3 13 members.

Player 1 paged gm and said BOB was using a exploit to get away from us and cheat death, the gm peeked BOB and said he looks ok. Hes heading near vadda at normal speed. There ya go, needlessless to say bob and his other 2 friends got got, right outside vadda near the big rock :-)

ROFL yet another mortal online hit piece....

The simple fact that people are posting about this game good or bad brings in more players to the game.

The population in mortal online is actually on the rise again.  People who play Mortal Online are having fun.  The game had already survived the first 2 months of release and there's no doubt it will grow from here, just like Eve...

Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!

Hmm population on the rise? LOL

You might be talking about the bugged horses or something, because like I said in my 30 days of playing and checking out all the npc and red cities. I've never seen more then 20 people in 1 area.

Not very sure what you mean by a hit piece?

I just simply listed a bunch of crazy bugs and problems off the top of my head that are a glaring problem in this game. I could go back through that list and add atleast 15 more gamebreaking bugs/exploits that will drive away new players.

Game on the rise my ass.

Feel free to list them if you actually know 15 more...

    • Going under a keep palisade turns you rogue, no matter if the keep is yours or not.

    • Can open keep gates without having a key, bad exploit that involves relogging.

    • You can exit the game if you over weight and come back into the game with no movement penalities.

Not 15, but I will get there soon. Having a brain fart atm.

Curious about #1.. wouldn't that be picked up by the server as someone moving too fast and get the guy banned?

Before I quit the game rampant hacking is what killed the game in my eyes... I mean everything you listed is true as well but the last I could take of it was knowing if you wanted to pvp you pretty well had to use the hacks.  I would say close to 50% of the population at launch hacked, it was just so easy to get away with.  Hell the people I played with created their own hack to duplicate items and they made a fortune in gold by using it... they built their houses and everything off of duplicated materials and when I asked what the point was in playing if there was no challenge they simply replied they don't care about MO and were just ucking around until the eventual ban.

Buyer Beware, DO NOT INVEST YOUR MONEY IN THIS GAME.  I've never felt the need to say that before, that's what scares me.

There is not one bit of truth in this post.

I've never seen a single hack used in this game.

The gm's are always on top of hacks and hackers and have banned the small minority of players that choose to hack or use exploits.

Every once in a while a video will pop up on the forums about someone hacking and that someone is always promptly banned after a quick investigation.

You may honestly never have seen anyone hacking in the game.  I have no way of knowing.   The simple fact of the matter is that a HUGE amount of info is processed client side which makes it easy to manipulate.  Either way, let's not derail this topic from the OP.  If you would like to start a hacking thread we can discuss it there.  Otherwise let's continue the discussion of the OP's 30 day rundown.

I could go back and re-sub to just about any of the games Ive played and pick out at least 15 bugs and exploitable game mechanics. Some that still exist from their release.

So whats your point? "OMG MO has bugs and exploitable mechanics!!"

Pro Tip- So does every other game.

*Edit- and concerning the Hacker/Cheater discussion. I saw way more hackers and exploiters in DFO then Ive seen in MO.

In fact I think Ive only seen 1 that I was sure was a cheater.

The simple fact of the matter is that your basing all this information on second hand reports and not actual first hand in game experience details the lack of any credible knowledge you have about this game.

ALL GAMES ARE MOSTLY CLIENT SIDED! Yes, even MMO's.  All your favorite FPS use client side hitboxes.  The client really isn't easy to manipulate as anti hack protocols have been put into place.  The forums of 3'rd party software hacking programs are littered with people complaining that there accounts have been banned, and that the hacks they advertised simply don't work.  (I will not specify specific hacks or programs or how to use them)  StarVault is staying on top of hackers and while they don't announce when they have ban waves like other games to I can assure you that they're have been many bans.  All in all compared to most MMO's I would say Mortal Online is far above average when it comes to anti hacking.

However, I do not wish to discuss hacking, I want to stick with the OP's hit piece on Mortal Online going after not just the game itself but it's player base calling them morons using hyperbole to describe minor bugs in game and straight up lies in order to discredit it.  I don't see how MMORPG moderators put up with this, but then again they wouldn't know that most of what was said in OP's post is BS unless they actually play the game.

If you notice the OP said he played for a whole month yet failed to mention a single solitary positive thing about the game.  The fact that he mentioned "treasure chests" and "treasure maps" just goes to show OP is a darkfall fanboy with a biased against any game that might compete in the MMO sandbox arena.

To be honest with you judging from what I read in the post I don't believe OP played Mortal Online for a single day.  He is just rehashing old complaints about the game which were previously posted on these forums.  Many of the bugs OP listed were patched before OP posted this thread.  If you notice he didn't make one mention of an "adventure" he had in MO.  He didn't mention what his favorite play style was.  He didn't mention what his favorite weapons type was.  No, all the OP did was write a list of bugs and grievances he had about the game.

Any honest and thorough review of an MMO would include the good and the bad.  This was just game bashing at it's finest.

The only postive thing to speak of in regards to MO at this point is a glorious vision, one in which the developers have fucked up.  If you can come up with an honest to god "positive" in the current MO build I'll give you a cookie.  I played for the first month of launch and beyond the awesome ideas behind the game the actual gameplay was sub-par due to the devs having finally been forced to push for launch.
