    He also says:

"There are compelling reasons why that works in this situation and our game, and Games Workshops are completely on board with it so we're not doing anything that violates the IP or the fiction – the details though will be revealed in the near future."

GW is on board with it and they haven't even said how it's going to play out yet... stop with the drama image

I don't think they are dunk at all, doesn't look like work of dunk people to me. Its not easy to work with a bad hangover in morning.

You know that the 1st playable race is imperium of man.

I can be Imperial man vs Chaos and Orkz as main 3 npc faction. Or they can go with winter assault style.

So not all hope is lost with 2 factions. Only way it would bummer if it started adding necrons on destro side and tau on order.

Is that why in every 40k campaign there on the same side, destruction?

Is that why in 2e 40k orks and chaos could ally together?

The sides in 40k ally with each other all the time, it might only be temporary but they still do it, ao all the people who spout out about how they would never ally please do some research.

Your over simplifying what is a complex political map in 40k....yes your examples  will ally with each other against a perceived greater threat but  they don't like or usually respect each other and  the moment the perceived threat is over they are just as likely to turn on each other as to seperate peacefulyl depending ont heir idnividual goals.

The complexity of race relations is part of what make Warhammer 40k popular for a lot of people.

The point is thought, that they will ally, and with a conflict as big as 40k onlines is probably going to have, it would make perfect sense to have alliances, not to mention orks are so easy to manipulate its like trying to get a toddler to go for a cookie.

Willl those alliances be rock solid? nope, but it does involve not killing each other, and thats good enough.

That's what peopel actually want...what you just described....Each race is it's own faction but players of those factions can coe together and  choose to form alliances with each other as long as such allainces are possible by Warhammer Lore of course. But wha thas bene described so far is that the races are being forced into two factions and choice is really being taken away.

Now there may be good story and game mechanic reaosn for this,we shall see,but a lot of peopel do not feel that this approach captures what War 40k is about and not without justification.

That would be the most awesome setup for fans of the lore (1 faction per race).  What they could do is adopt the hierarchic system present in Planetside, where there's a few select people per side functioning as "Generals" and making plans for the rest of the faction, plans that you, as a foot soldier, can decide to follow, ignore, or improve upon in the field via real-time tactical decisions of your own. A political system could be in place that would allow those generals to form some kind of council in which they can vote for or against alliances with other factions when the possibility arises. Of course, certain factions just can't ally by design, and while others can, the voting system could prevent them from doing so all the time. I don't know, something like that would be pretty cool and would make the game feel more like a war and a coordinated effort by an army than a big FFA, which is what usually happens when PvP starts to involve more than a few dozen people.

I would assume factions would be like so...

human / Xeno, you dont choose who you ally with, becuase jesus christ thats madness in warhammer to have an ally asides from the very unstable Imperial Guard / sisters / Space marines... no one else allies with each other unless its a very very VERY damn good reason..

Im sure they will think of something to work this out though... probably remove factions come a year or two down the line of release to make it pure chaos!

have faith my brothers, for the Emperor will not foresake us... If he does, well then i guess we will all shout towards the heavens... BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GODS!!!!

In-fact in the warhammer 40k world NOBODY trust anyone theres countless chapters in the space marine books of chapters fighting the choas hordes and even thou they win and kill the choas they get shot and burned alive beacuse they spent too much time with the choas and fear they will be tainted this Warhammer world is brutal the imperium is the marines play-thing mere week humans that are eailsy coruppted by choas and are a direct copy from the WW2 russian army TBH with the commisars and what not

Choas are a bunch of god worshipping cultists that fight among themselfs even in the choas undivided platoon they are seperated to stop in-fighting

Orks love a good fight dey smash anyfing and hate dem humies da choaz boys are abit weird andz always tricksing us into a propur gud fight(my poor attempt at ork there)

Eldar  these are hated by the orks and choas and empire yet they sometimes help the empire fight the orks and choas even thou the empire don't know it and if they found any they would be shot and burned on site

pretty much what im saying is every race in warhammer 40k neither trusts there own kind never mind other races Having 2 factions is HIGHLY likly and HIGHLY going to fail

Now if we had the races as the faction this would work so eldar vs empire vs choas vs orks vs Tau vs necrons vs whatever race i forgot them oh yea dark eldar

Oh and it's BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Played AoC,WaR,Allods, archlord,WoW,Fallen Earth, and many more

Life fears death, but lives only to die. It starts with anxiety. Anxiety becomes fear. Fear leads to anger... anger leads to hate... hate leads to suffering... The only cure for this fear is total destruction.
