I would love to wake up tomorrow morning to hear that Mythic has given up on WAR, stumbled across an infinite amount of funds, broke away from stupid EA and decided to dedicate their time towards reviving DAoC with an updated graphics/physics engine, an updated more user friendly customizable UI, and a few fresh servers for the people that would absolutely return to this gem of a game.
Sure, I could just wish for DAoC 2, but the reality is that I'd be happy enough with a WoW style UI and better graphics. I think the rest of the game is pretty much perfect.
Wishful thinking at best though.
AC, DAoC, WoW, WAR, FFXI, LoTR, RF, FFXIV
Currently back on WoW until a game comes around that shows me it doesnt suck.
Oh, and my dream is that the MMO I have had stuck in my head for the past 6 months is being made and in a round about way of hiring me to be the lead designer, they posted it on the website.
Playing: Heroes of Three Kingdoms Played: WoW, DDO, Second Life, Diablo II, Tried free trial: LoTR, Fallen Earth, EvE, Champions Online,
I would say that the greatest bit of news I would like to hear was that the major MMOs WoW, Aion, Ryzom, ec. were partnering with a clothing company to open an MMO clothing line. I would love to see clothing that could feature your unique avatar on them. I would really like a sweatshirt or something with my Ryzom character. He is pretty cool looking after all.
Haven't enough people crapped on that masterpiece? The fewer people and genres and media try to mess with it, the better. I have never played a good Dune game, I have never seen a good Dune movie, and I have never read a good Dune story that wasn't written by the original author himself.
A well done Dune MMO would probably replace sliced bread as the new standard for quality, I agree. But lets look at the history.

hmm I knew there was already one out and I might try and break the language barrier if it had some bladestorm mixed into it....
hadn't heard about an americanised version of the game though, will have to check that out.
Edit: woot thx, now just hope I get in the open beta.
That the whining and moaning and bitching over every little details of every damned MMO in existence should cease indefinitely and everyone learns to accept that we all have our own personal preferences in the styles we enjoy and for how they are designed and enjoy them as such...
~One can dream can't they~
That all WoW clone lovers like this guy, who can't stand to hear other opinions, would go blind and deaf so that they would never have to hear or read differing opinions again, and can be forever happy in their own little world devoid of other opinions.
Anything that involves a new, fully featured mmo in a sci fi setting, that doesn't involve catering to the lazy or dumb. With perhaps a sociopolitical and economic system on the same scale as EvE. Preferably a "surprise! we've been working on it in secret for the last 5 years, and here it is ready to be released in full working condition!"
One can dream
Dunno why people would want yet another stupid elf mmo, that's for sure. Way too many of those!

As much as I would love to play in a universe of Dune, it could never be done right. There was a good article on Massively.com about what mmo settings you would want. In there the author pointed out that what makes a great book doesn't really translate to an mmo. The two specific examples were Dune and A Song of Ice and Fire. I agree 100%.
Eve has abandoned the sandbox model and will revamp the Eve universe with a themepark, level based game play!! Starbases with quests available will have large yellow question marks over them. Oh and PvP is consentual only!! Hurray!!

Yea, I agree, some notions are hard to translate into your traditional theme park mmo model. I think a dune based IP could work, but in more of an extensive sandbox kind of way (literally!), and probably in an era before the atreides.
One I think would make a great IP is firefox (or serenity if one only saw the movie) - awesome rich setting in a wild west kind of way with a central area of "lawfulness" (think eve's empire vs 0.0), with sci-fi aspects and a number of planets etc (last I heard some web based game was being made with it.. how lame is that?)

Assume much? Krymson is the farthest thing from a WoW lover. You fail my friend. You fail hard.

Yea, that's why I said a pre-atreides .. Just some fremen, some harkonnens (or some random invented factions long before them) and some neutral city folk, only on the planet of dune, without all of the fancy interesting stuff that goes on in the dune series. Maybe like, the first fremen, so players start in the townships, and either stay there for neutrality, run off into the desert to learn the ways of the free man, or joins one of the tyrant factions mining spice.. or whatever.
It could work.. but I doubt that those who can afford the IP would bother making anything but a mass market casual theme park deal, so I guess in that sense it wouldn't work heh

This would be my vote.

an IQ test is now required before anyone can use the internet.
Possibly. Unless you know more of the Smith & Tinker guys than I do.
I kill other players because they're smarter than AI, sometimes.
