What are some of the things you love most about this game?

ArkainArkain Member UncommonPosts: 491

I keep finding things, places, quest etc. in this MMORPG that I love. Today I was doing the noobie crafting quest (Learning Thestran Style), it a standard go here and talk to this guy type of quest. The part that makes this loads of fun for me was the size of the world. If you don't just port (and sometimes even if you do) you fine how huge this world really is, I love that.

List some of what you love most in the game.

I don't currently play Vanguard currently because of its, now low population and time restraints in RL

But when I did play, I just loved it for its complexity and detail put into character development.

what other mmo can you have an entire character equiptment sheet for combat, crafting, and diplomacy?

I also enjoyed the environments and weather system. One awesome memory I had was I was in some village, I picked up a quest and started traveling to my destination. I looked up at the sky and said to myself "hmm, looks like rain soon" because clouds were getting darker and such. I kept treading on, all of a sudden the wind started picking up, the trees and grass were swaying back and forth and I started hearing thunder. Eventually it began to rain, trees and other foliage being whiped around violently as rain poured. It was something I've never seen in an mmo, so much detail.

I also enjoyed the hell out of riding my boat wherever I wanted. I would spend hours just exploring the seas while my guild mates were hitching a ride.

I really wish this game was more successful, IMO it beats EQ2 out of the water.

I also don't play it anymore, but I enjoyed it when I did. I really liked the number of races and classes. The classes were interesting and fun to play, especially the druid. I still think VG's druid is the best druid-like class in any MMO I've tried.

I also enjoyed the sheer size of the game world. I enjoyed traveling around by foot, horse or boat. I enjoyed trying to find a spot to build my house and eventually finding just the right one.

I'm kind of tempted to sign back up for a while now...

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

  • -Vanguard has the best dungeons, reminds me EQ1 dungeon systembut Vanguard way better.

-Game world is huge and well designed.

    -Class variety is awesome.

-Game has some unique key features those most of MMORPGs doesnt have..

Its the best mmorpg game for me, i will continue to play until next Everquest or Rift: Planes of Telara

Who knows, maybe there will be Vanguard II..

This just sounds awesome ... didn't know it was that deep.

Never came round to playing this one, pitty.

to me the BEST MMORPG since UO (but hey.....nothing beats UO right).

The only reason i quit this game was that no one was playing it anymore.....realy a shame cause its one hell of a game.

The crafting, the combat combo's and chains.....man i loved that game.......too bad its empty :(

I loved a lot of things about the game.

Crafting; the mini-game, the different components, the options, the different continental styles and the questlines.

Exploring; huge areas to discover. All areas had different looks. It took really  some time to travel from a to b on a mount.

Races; a lot of different races to pick from.

I don't play it anymore. But the topic isn't about why I don't play it :)

I liked that the rivers actually had a current and you could 'raft' along one of them all the way across a map.

This game did feel like the 'next step' from EQ1.

Sony should be ashamed for letting it wither and die.

I like playing tanks, I like playing healers.

VSoH is the first game that let me do both in the best hybrid class I have ever played.

The Disciple is the most unique and fun to play class I have tried in any MMO ever.

It amazes me that no other game has grabbed this idea and run with it.

Healing can be fun but nobody wants to stand in back and mash the heal button over n over.

The disciple is right in the thick of combat.  Martial arts forms smacking the mobs and healing their companions all at the same time.  It's just great fun to play.

If you play VSoH and have not tried the disciple really you are missing out.  Make one and give it a try they are really fun.

    1. The huge world really made you feel immersed.  It took me a very long time to explore the most of it.

    2. The class and race selections.  So many made you feel unique.  Also, I never played alts as much as I did in this game which sort of made it quite replayable due to multiple starting points, multiple areas to go past that starting point, etc...

    3. The community.  It really was a great community despite its lack of size.  It felt like an old school meets new school surrounding in terms of graphics and people.

I am loving the memories, Yesterday I was doing the noobie crafting quest and was going by a farm house, then out of the ground came 2 BIG ants, they ate me lol (I am a level 11 Necro and I was on a noobie horse). That was great, lol it reminded me of my table top gaming days.

I love the large world and how crafting makes you go places. Like visiting a different continent to learn its crafting style.

I also remember when I was doing quests at  Three Rivers Village and there was this large Griffon flying around. It was higher lvl then the players that were questing there. It had this route covering quite a large area and sometimes came down to attack players or mobs at this mob village near Three Rivers. That was just awesome, especially suddenly hearing warning from other players. It really made you check the sky all the time :)

Im not sure if they changed that later on, I still saw it flying but didnt see it coming down to attack that village.

Hmm what did i enjoy most, well each time i went bak to give it another chance my greatest moments were when i logged into my station account and clicked subscriptions and then clicked CANCEL. hmm that would be my fondest moment indeed.

Never again SoE will u get $ from me when it involves VSoH. Better hope VSoH goes F2P because thats the ONLY way this population is going to turn around trust me on that.

I agree with what Ekadd mentioned. The dungeons were awesome, respawn was a little fast for my taste but I guess that just made it a bit more interesting and a good challenge.

The game world is huge and so different. One a huge forrest to a vast desert.

/rope That was such a life saver.

Class variety was awesome. I started out with a bard but ended up with a Psi and many many alts.

    The cities are HUGE.

Fun fun game. I wish I had more time and could jump back in.

I dont play anymore myself, but I loved exploring telon, everytime I did I found somewhere new, some small village with quests in Id never been to before, I use to travel around the shoreline in my boat and find a spot to explore now and then, was such a relaxing game, thinking about it makes me wanna come back, but have heard the population is quite low now :(

  • SovrathSovrath Member LegendaryPosts: 32,939

    To me it's the exploring.

I had to take a few months off from playign but I'm essentially back, even if my play time is limited.

Still, I love the world, the open nature of the world and I love the classes.

I also like how there is a bit of danger to the world.

Finally finishing the Unicorn quest chain with my Cleric and riding the wonderfull thing.

Earning all the platinum coins I needed for my Elf Sorcerers racial mount ( a very cool Puma type cat)

The vast array of class race combos available.

How big the damn game world is

The people I met and played with ( I miss you Trixie and Pretorious )

Being in the best Game guild I have ever found ( Silky Venom )

There is more but I dont want to be long winded, besides I might be tempted to list the things I didnt like wich is "allmost" as long.

  • dragonbranddragonbrand Member UncommonPosts: 441

I like the size of the world. The classes are great, particularly the bloodmage. Its a cool combination of healer and necro. Never tried the disc, after these comments i will. I like the open dungeons and the quantity of them. Still having fun in this game. The new starting area is a great way to get new players into each of the professions of crafting and into diplomacy.

Gaming since Avalon Hill was making board games.

Played SWG, EVE, Fallen Earth, LOTRO, Rift, Vanguard, WoW, SWTOR, TSW, Tera
Tried Aoc, Aion, EQII, RoM, Vindictus, Darkfail, DDO, GW, PotBS

Bard song. You could put many "note" to create different song. That was awesome.

Necromancer Pet. Able to harvest bone and guts to boost your pet and give ti ability.

Graphic were good too, pvp was fun. Shaman had 3 kind of pet which was awesome as well.

This game was alot fo fun until SoE took over and started nerfing every single bit of it lol.

  • mmoguy43mmoguy43 Member UncommonPosts: 2,770

    Just to add something different...

I love that the game was actually released. I hate to say it but if SoE didn't grab it up it may have been boxed.

  • corpusccorpusc Member UncommonPosts: 1,341

    1. NO INSTANCES!  (practically)

    2. LOTS of dungeons, even at low levels, all public access!

    3. the huge beautiful world.

    4. interesting and unique takes on quite a few classes.  the Bard making their own songs from combinations of 'verses' and 'stanzas' etc., the Disciple class

    5. being able to move while casting/shooting, even tho it slows your movement while the bar is up...at least you're not forced into being totally motionless like most MMOs (altho newer ones are starting to pick up that feature in some ways)

    6. many different starting towns/locations with unique personalities
