Ive had a few minor glitches due to server stability but on the whole nothing bad or uncommon to any beta on the average. This is my first time playing and im finding it to be very fun but then again im a sucker for roman mythology and history.
Hmm. I was less impressed (very, very average all around with some technical/stability issues) and that is all I will say since I clicked okay on the terms section without reading any specific of possible NDA.
Edit - I will comment on the video since that seems a bit safer NDA-wise: I guess different expectations for different folks...in the youtube video posted above the guy repeatedly says that graphics are decent (not up to new game standards, but decent), spell effects are decent, combat is decent...to me that adds up to mediocre and mediocre games have been obliterated by false hype and too high expectations. I do not really want to pay a subscription for a mediocre game, f2p maybe, but not p2p. I know it was a stress test, but the game needs some honest tough feedback as they go ahead, not cheerleaders in my opinion. Let the devs cheer themselves on.

Well you are looking at a game that's what? 3 years old really since PE shut it down in 2007/8 and it was still in Beta then to boot.
Since Heatwave only bought it this year and is just starting to clean it up I'd say it's probably par for the course. Right now it's probably a bit better than some of the F2p's I've seen, but not up to $15.00 a month P2p standards.
I find it interesting that some of the features (minons) are now in other games, STO was the first one I saw and look at the hype over it being in KOTOR. I guess nothing really is ever new in this world
I think where this game will shine is not graphics or groundbreaking game play but in lore, subject matter and the ability to have your own little group of myrmidons.
For people who are less picky about their games or don't need big new and flashy, It should do reasonably well.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
All three of those minion systems seem to be somewhat unique from one another aside from the fact that they all kill mobs with you. I played G&H for a little while yesterday and there are some pretty cool squad playstyle options (for the mmo genre atleast) like squad formations plus whats to be expected of pets such as but not limited to gear enhancements, pet action bars, pet play styles, pet levels etc. The minion system is treated alot like an extended pet system with a few bells and whistles.
The god system is pretty fantastic in my opinion and makes for more variety amongst alike classes. Example: two soldiers are followers of different two gods, both are equally skilled in different skill trees, they share the basics of combat, armor and weapons usage but their skills are selected from different pools. I think that will make for some interesting results.
Graphics are not photorealistic but they arent low res low poly count either. The animations are as seen on the video although the person making the video didnt have his settings maxed. There are stenciled shadows and shadows canopy over everything from the grass to the players. The graphics almost look hand drawn but I doubt they are.
In short, my opinion is it was an above average test with alot less issues than i had expected. As the person recording the video said, you wont find anything really groundbreaking in G&H as far as base mechanics go but the lore is where itll shine and with a back drop like ancient rome theres alot to work with. There was something else i was going to write, but i forget...
This is my opinion as of 8/29/10 and is subject to change without notice.

There is no spoon... but if there was a spoon it would be silver and polished!

Damn, I just missed it
Was out with the g'friend today so couldn't partake.
If I would have had more notice I might have been able to reschedule things.
Glad to hear it's working well. I wonder if it plays better than the last beta?

Kind of reminds me of the old SPG Titan Quest.
SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter
Yup, that's pretty much how I remember it.
