If this subjest has already been approached...well flame on!

After  reading the millionth theard about Blizzard's accouant security, It got me wondering...

Has Bioware made any kind of statement concerning account security? Regardless if I like it or not the game appears to be follow the recent trend of "themepark" mmo's (Which I don't blame them for...They are in the business to make money) So at least at launch this game will be big and in all likelyhood take a chunk of WoW's subs. That being said the gold farmers and account stealers stand to make alot of money not only from your TOR account  but from your Wow account. I'm guessing that the phishing emails will go thru the roof. I'm honsetly suprise we have'nt seen a mass influx of " You got into the TOR beta" phishing emails already. Give it some time they'll be arriving shortly.

Second if, as some people on here, have claimed  the account security issue has alot to do with add-ons I hope Bioware serioulsy considers wether to allow Lua script. Believe that's what it is called... allows all the UI add-ons.Could be wrong.

I'm sure with a the amount of time and money Bioware has sunk in to TOR they have noticed the amount of probelms a subpar account system can create and are working to prevent the probelm.

While I'm looking forward to this game one of the quickest ways to lose my money would be a constant battle with account theft.

We all know that alot of the responbility of account security falls on us the gamers. But you can't have the massive amount of probelm Blizzard is having without something being up on their side also. Hopefully Bioware will take the necessary steps bring it down a acceptable level.

Like you said, it is us who can do more about your account security than game companies. However, there are systems that pop in to my mind that would ensure the security. Banks in my country use this system which involves username, password, account number, and account security question which is a random number series followed by a code that is renewed annually (this is a list of codes that are sent to you by a bank). You need all 4 things to access the account and the last number cannot be taken from you unless someone breaks into your apartment and copies it (or you are stupid enough to carry it with you).

Blizzard or Bioware can't really be responsible for your own stupidity and trying to hold them responsible is really retarded view. Only thing they can do is to provide an industry standard security solution and try to make their own internal systems secure enough (the latter is a serious issue for them, I admit).

You are wrong with this one. Addons, as far as I know, have never caused any security issues in WoW. However, applications used to automate installation, harmful applications included in archived addons along with web-delivery platforms is another story. LUA has never been a security problem itself.

I am pretty certain that both EA-Bioware and Activision- Blizzard are aware of this situation and doing something about it. Not sure what they are doing, but there are pretty good systems along with security consultants to solve these problems.  Financial companies are years ahead of these issues so the real world solutions do exist.

All I have to say about it is,  EA.  EA is one of the most critical on software protection in the business.  I'm sure they will have excellent account security,  but  security is a two way street, and you'll always have those that will get their passwords lost, stolen, or give them away on "accident".

Password Security , the Issue is the End User and the majorities inability to remember a number ast 10.

Generate a secure password, and then don't compromise the game by trying to cheat as normally you will get bitten by one of many forms of scammer. This is a two way street the Gaminng companies should 100% protect personal data and email addresses but other than that it is down to the end user.

Any one employing addons or lets get ahead elements to the games deserve everything they get.

It's not blizzards account security, it is the due to them having a huge number of customers and most likely alot of them are idiots, no offense, but you are an idiot if you fall for the countless scams out there.
