Thanks for keeping us updated.  I'm eagerly awaiting the texture updates.  The game looks pretty good right now, but with higher resolution textures it's going to look absolutely stunning.

    No problem on the update.

I agree, better textures would be great, though I like the way the game looks already.

There are a lot of interesting things tentatively coming in the next few weeks.  More mobs, epic creature, alchemy, magic update, craftable mount gear, the fledgling flag.  All really interesting stuff.

Of course, none of the things listed is a huge new system, but it does indicate that they are simultaneously advancing several lines (i.e. PvE, PvP, crafting, economy), thus making each piece a little more robust as they go.

I almost bought the game until I saw the mess the past patch made.  If they can fix that and add some of these things without breaking more I will buy it.  I had said that about the last patch but I was glad I waited.

I would love to see an update from you. (not just official) once they fix the vendor crashing bug, the frequent crashes that have been in since the past patch etc.  Most forums topics end on a subject once it is fixed because no one cares to post anymore.  Let us know :)

    @Aetheryn:

There was a hotfix last night that addressed the vendor crash. As to the other crashing, that was sporadic and unpredictable, so it's hard to say how well that was addressed beyond a simple "it didn't happen to me last night".

Yeah, I know what you mean - once a problem is fixed, they often leave you hanging without giving any resolution.

Osmunda has pretty much nailed this.  The vendor crashing appears to have been eliminated by the hotfix on Thursday.  I haven't had any issues with it since then, nor have I heard of anyone else that has encountered that problem since that time.  Obviously I don't know what caused it, or what they did to fix it, so wouldn't be able to provide any credible thoughts on whether or not it'll ever be a problem again.  One thing I will say is that I can't recall this having ever been a significant or longstanding problem before, even in beta.

Regarding more frequent crashing, as Osmunda said, that appears to be something that affected players on an individual basis.  Personally, I haven't had any unexplained crashes that weren't vendor related since Monday - generally my client has been just as stable since the patch as it was before.  That doesn't mean that individual systems couldn't be affected by changes made by SV, of course.  Overall, from what I've seen and heard, this issue hasn't been a pervasive one that's affected everyone like the vendor bug did.

Regarding buying the game, keep in mind that while this last patch did fix some of them (and added the vendor bug), the game still has bugs.  The server has gotten a lot more stable over the last 2 or 3 weeks (on average, it has an unexpected crash now about 1 to 3 times per day, along with a planned daily maintenance downtime), but isn't perfect yet.  Oh, and as stated a number of times, the UI is still ugly - it works, but really is unattractive.  Lastly, it is still moving forward from the core game that was planned.  They've added a pretty good amount of things so far, but still have more to add.

There is an upgrade from Epic Games that SV is waiting on that will allow an improved UI, improved navmesh to make mob AI better, and several other ancillary improvements, but they haven't given an exact ETA on that.

I enjoy the game as it is right now.  In fact, I enjoy it more than any game I've played in years, just for what it offers now.  That doesn't mean everyone would, though.  If you've still got concerns, you won't be hindered long-term by waiting.  Primary skills don't take a long time to develop.  Secondary skills will likely take you longer, but not an enormous amount of time.  Due to the skill cap, and depending on your playstyle, you'd be able to play the game and be competitive within several weeks, so you shouldn't feel any pressure in that you're getting left behind.

Thanks for all the great info.  I LOVED the game in closed beta just before release.  I was fun with the UI, the lack of variation of animals (which I know they are increasing) so it is more the stability that I am concerned with.  If they add tabbards and they show up inside out I don't care. . as long as it is not game breaking (like the book price thing would have had me a little steamed).

I will give it until after the next patch and see how that one rolls out.

    Thanks again.

It's to bad that they pushed the tree textures back another week.  I was really looking forward to that, but bug fixes always have the priority.  I can't wait to see what the game looks like when the new high rez textures get implemented in a couple weeks.

Now I haven't been paying attention to the game for a while, but with alarm bells to keeps and seige weapons in patch notes does that mean they have already implemented seigable guild owned keeps, or are they neutral structures?  I liked how this game looked in development but the cut of seiging before launch made me lose intrest.

Over several of the last patches, they've been implementing guild warfare and territorial control.  They've recently added the beginning siege weapons for use in attacking guild owned keeps.

This explains the territorial control system that is currently in place: http://www.mortalonline.com/news/territory-control-system-explained

They no doubt have more to add to flesh out the system - like the alarm, tax system, alliance system, moveable siege weapons that you see in the notes above - but siege warfare is currently supported by the game.

Yesterday Star Vault got a very important patch from Epic with many important improvements that will make it possible for SV to finally add much more mobs with improved AI, better performance/stability client/server, nicer trees, the new GUI (flash), ...

So the Under Development section will be updated very soon with new important stuff. Finally SV can start adding mobs like trolls, town NPC's, Tindrem, magic user NPCs and lots more, mobs look at right direction during fight, ...

    This is great news!
