Who programmed the garbage downloader?

I love being locked out of my own network because we can't limit the upload rate on the downloader.

You can just download the torrent patch in any torrent program and skip the patcher if you want more customization.

And where did you find patch?

  • mmoguy43mmoguy43 Member UncommonPosts: 2,770

I can't even install it becaues there is no option of an install path, it must unpack it to my docs in C: which doesn't have 12 gb free image

  • ProfRedProfRed Member UncommonPosts: 3,495

You can use a torrent program, navigate to:

DocumentsMy GamesFINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Versiondownloadsffxiv-betad96437e6metainfo

You will see the file that is listed in the patcher.  You can then open these with a torrent program and download it much faster.  Then you copy the downloaded patch to:

DocumentsMy GamesFINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Versiondownloadsffxiv-betad96437e6patch

Run the patcher and it will patch and you are good to go.

Vuze is telling me my connection is not authorized or something -_- all of the other torrents work.

Not sure of Vuze.  I used BitComet and got around 400kb/s.

My friend I think uses BitComet also and I told him this method this morning and he is almost done with entire client.

Yea Square is Blocking bittorrent clients from connecting to THEIR seeds, but Peer/DHT seeds are working just fine.

    I saw this in uTorrent:

Failure: requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker

But it didn't matter because of the DHT and Peer Exchance I connected to other seeds and peers... just not the main trackers.

I have to use torrents behind a proxy with encryption because my campus blocks it. So when SE shut down their trackers I'm screwed.

I noticed that too with the main FFXI not working, but I am still running off of other peers. Though its going a bit slower cause of this.

My connection is a bit crazy  goes to bought 300 then back down to 50

I'm downloading the patch now through the file in the metainfo directory and it's working perfect for me. Download rate @ 2.8mb/s using utorrent client 100 mb net connection.

Try to open utorrent port in your router by port forwarding/redirecting and you'll run fast. I'm uploading 1mb/s so a lot of people doing that I hope.

I set up the ports a long time ago, normally I get around 400-600kb/s depending on what I am downloading, no clue why I am having such an issue.

Maybe something got jacked a few weeks ago when I updated it, havent used it since.

That really depends you can set the port in the utorrent options... if you modem and or router has UPNP turned on you can just set upnp to on in utorrent and you shouldn't have to do anything.

Nothing is jacked up. That's just how torrents work. There is no "normally." You are not guaranteed any sort of constant/average download speed. You could be on a 50Mbit connection and get 5kb/s.

Move My Documents folder to any drive you wish to download the game. Took me less then a minute and i am downloading the game without any problems.

I downloaded the ff14 setup from the OB app. page and got it installed and setup, but when I run the patcher, nothing happens. Is this because the OB was postponed, and it'll activate when the new date arrives? Or am I supposed to something else, or is it just not working at the moment and is needing repairs? Sorry if these are stupid questions, I'm just not very knowledgable with such things.:p
