What is Team Avid all about?
Simple: to be competitive in any MMO title in which we participate. We accomplish this efficiently by maintaining a tighter roster than typical guilds. Each member of Team Avid serves as a substantial asset to our progression and success. We recruit only what is needed, to maintain a guild in which everyone knows each other and isn't just another member in the crowd.
Most importantly we are here to enjoy ourselves. Too often "hardcore" guilds turn the game into a job and their members end up not playing because of it. We still remember this is a game. We're here to provide a place for the avid gamer to come enjoy themselves no matter if they have 100hrs or 20hrs a week. We are about how well you play not about how much. Most our members have higher play times but this isn't a requirement since some people do more in 10hrs then others do in 40. This is the type of person we are looking for.

Guild Applicant Requirements
Are you Competitive?
We don't expect you to be online 20 hours a day, but when you are on-line do you spend your time wisely and efficiently? Are you the type of person who is always trying to better your game-play? Do you look for ways to give yourself that little bit more of an edge?
Are you a Team Player?
Are you the type of person that is all about you or are you the kind of person who is willing to help others? We are not a guild set to cater for a few individuals. We do what will benefit the guild as a whole, not what will benefit only "you".
Will you become an Asset?
Are you the kind of person that will help carry the load or expect to be carried? Too many times in guilds there are a small group of players that carry the weight of the many. That's not the case with Avid.

What will Team Avid do for you?
Too often you'll see guilds put a million restrictions on their members but what are they actually providing to the individual person in the guild?
Obviously we provide all the basics. A good stable website to keep all of our members and followers up to date on the latest happenings in game and the MMO world in general. We don't use 3rd party sites where they dictate what can and can't be done with the guild site, we own everything in order to do what we want to do with the site and ensure no matter what it can always be up to date. With that of course Vent is provided as well to all our members.
Are you tired of looking for a new guild every game you go to? At Team Avid it doesn't work that way. We aren't your typical one hit wonder guild that is together for a few months of a game and then everyone goes there separate ways when the game gets old or something new and more interesting comes along. Some of our members have been together for 10 years or more. Here you'll have a home if you choose to for many years to come and can end the cycle of looking for a guild every game you go to.
Your chance to influence the guild the way you want it to be. The leadership of Avid has years of experience and knowledge of MMO's but we aren't naive enough to think that we know it all. Want to lead a raid? Easily done, all our members if willing and able can step into any of the leadership roles available in the guild. Whether its leading raids, recruiting, managing dkp, setting raid schedules, whatever suits your fancy your able to step into if your able to do the job. Want to just be a member and not have to worry about any of that? That's just fine as well.
A stable schedule and organized atmosphere. We ensure our raid schedules fit all our members personal schedules to ensure maximum participation. You won't have to be on 24/7 waiting for someone to shout in guild he lets go kill X mob. We try to whenever possible schedule everything a week out to make sure you have the chance to go through all the content in the game. Granted in some cases such as contested mobs there will be spur of the moment parties going on but in most cases even with contested we try ensure all our members know about it in advance so they can attend.

Guild Rules
We keep this as simple as possible, it's a game and not a job.
Be as civil as possible. Yes this is the internet, but act like a human being. Common courtesy goes a long way.
Keep the Leadership informed of any schedule changes you may have so that they can adjust events/rosters as necessary.
Maintain an active presence on the forums. We expect all members to keep up to date on any relevant information that is posted.

Open beta kicks off tomorrow!!
Sounds appealing, but there's a huge gap between being the best and doing your best, so I'm sure I do not fit the profile.
On a side note, are you looking for people who are familiar with the Final Fantasy universe, namely XI? Because I never got around to play it, nor have I tested XIV.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
No not particularly. All of us had at one point or another played FFXI but in all honesty picking up the differences between FFXIV and other mmo's since its quite a bit different in playstyles is quite easy and only takes a little time.
Hop on the Open beta starting tomorrow, if you've never played FFXI or FFXIV then you'll be in for a bit of a gameplay shock since it tends to play a bit different then your standard mmo.
Open beta is now confirmed it will be up tonite, don't miss out!!
Evil the new site design looks great! Awesome job!
It's always appealing to see other game guilds trying to get a jumpstart in a FF MMO. I remember when a bunch tried for XI and then quit. It won't work the same, FF MMO's are a different monster and you aren't ready for it. If you think your guild is 'hardcore', try camping HNM's for 24+ windows in intervals and devoting 10hrs+ a day to endgame. The FFMMORPG community doesn't need your kind, stick to WoW.
Thanks for your quite insiteful post. We actually never went and played wow, so sticking to that would be somewhat difficult.
I think you somehow got the impression that we never played FFXI which would be a mistake on your part. All of our members minus 2 played FFXI for quite awhile and know what camping is all about. And FFXI was easy compared to some other games in terms of contested.
What the FF community doesn't need is people like you running around making assumptions about guilds/people you have no idea about.
I wish you the best of luck in FF, and my deepest sympathies to any guild that has you in their ranks.
Also, what LS were you in? If it wasn't top10 serverwide, then you don't know what hardcore endgame is.
The only reason I'm negative is because of the countless tards that are on this forum that love to criticize the game and immediately call out XI. It's the majority of people. Assuming you played XI, you'd know that the bad players are plentiful and usually stay bad, and there's a huge gap between them and the good players, unlike games like EQ/WoW/Aion etc that spoonfeed scrubs.
I was in the best ranked LS serverwide (NiN).
FFXI is probably one of the hardest mmo's to be successful at, so I have no idea wtf you're talking about saying other games are easy.
Dzyne,
Likewise I would love to challange your knowledge of Everquest 1. Anyone with an understanding of the raid mechanics/mob spawns from EQ1 would look at your previous statements and baffle. It is obvious that you lack knowledge of other games such as EQ1 which I personally spent 7 years playing.
I am not sure why you have this preconcieved notion that FF11 was the first and only "hardcore" MMO on the market over the past 10 years, but it is obvious that your experience is limited. EQ1 had many spawns with multiple day or even week long spawn timers, this is not an aspect of previous MMOs that is specifically from FF11.
If you were more experienced sir in the games we have played then you would have never made your post. This leads me to believe that you are more than likely a FF11 fanboi who was still in gradeshcool while we were playing eq1 on dial-up.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but in all seriousness, your initial post needs to be written up differently (We all know this is going to be an upgraded 11). And this is probably the worst place to post. Go to FFXIAH.com and post there instead.
I'm lost what the heck are you talking about now?
Btw, KSing in EQ1 was one of the reasons it was great back in the day. To have to camp a mob for hours on end and then fight another raid for it while they tried to wipe you is really what I enjoyed most about the game.
I've kinda lost what if anything your trying to say, either way we'll see ya ingame and best of luck to ya.
Good morning mmorpg, oh and i guess dynze too.
another day of beta!
Ran all the way to Ishgard only to see that its closed
What a waist of 3 hours lol
Thus why I went to bed
Gotta say it's the best looking zone thus far ingame so was probably worth the run.
Now if SE was kind enough to leave me all my ports I got on the way come release so I didn't have to do it again
Im not hardcore as in play 10 hours+ a day (i work tuesday - thrusday from 6am to 5pm.) but i am able to make any event after 5pm tues-thurs and generally play atleast 6-8 hours on sat sun monday.
What does make me hardcore is my ability to learn, understand and master game mechanics. I try to be an over achiever at all times and make sure i understand my class to the fullest. In any game i play, i am always topping w/e charts are available, be in heals, dps, or understanding tank mechanics enough to build my character properly through stats and gear to minimize the most damage and optimize my tanking ability.
Im looking for a fresh start on a new MMO, and most of my good buddies are pvpers so they aren't interested. I enjoy pvp quite a bit but i've been interest in pve a lot more as of late. If FFXIV gets pvp implemented, i will participate in it, but it won't be my main source of entertainment. Just something to pass the time between events.
My wife will be playing as well, but she is not a hardcore gamer. She does not go above and beyond to learn or understand a game, but thats ok because she has me .
If i sound like someone you might be interested in then pm me here. Im a PST player btw, but am able to fit an EST play schedule, ESPECIALLY on saturday sunday and monays.
Thanks
