wow, not impressed at all, the control feel so awkward to me, it seem that this game was designed for ps3 and not pc. any thought? no flame plzzzzzzz

We need hardware mouse support. The input lag is pretty bad for me....like pushing the mouse through honey.
Might have to dust off my controller I used for FFXI.
does anyone know how to change the game resolution? i can't seem to get out of this widescreen window mode, tks in advance
If you go to the Square Enix folder, there should be a file called ffxivconfig.exe
C:Program Files (x86)SquareEnixFINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version on Win7
use that to config your game settings. Wish they would incorporate that in-game.
I am with you, the controls definately feel awkward and there is a definate lag between actions
There is definatly mouse lag but i only use the keyboard when i play so it isn't really affecting me at all. menu seems pretty smooth when using just the keyboard.
I also thought the game was beautiful looking. Cant wait for release now my 2 hours i got to play tonight is enough for me to pre order the game.
Careful, this is actually one of those cased where beauty truly is only skin deep. Give it a few days before you decide to pre-order.
Well I am not even going to think about buying this game untill I tried it out. My shelves are full of games I didnt even finish the free month due to the utter bad gameplay and lack of innovation followed by other things I dont even wanna mention here.
i don't need to I loved FFXI was the best mmo i have played. This gameplay so far was very fun and didn't hold your hand. I'm pre ordering.

Yeah, hand holding is pretty much non-existent in FFXIV, which is really nice and makes it hardier to grind. However this leads to the fact that you pretty much have to read EVERYTHING. I mean I tried a few times to skip some story lines and totally had no clue where to go for the next quest and ended up having to read the quests. FFXIV is the definition of RPG and really brings back the RPG in MMO.
The only concern I have since I have not played since cb1 is the game speed. HOLY CRAP! It was slower then FFXI. I have heard they have speed up the animation some what... So any news on combat speed now?
I'm not trying to be a troll good sir. I loved Final Fantasy XI a lot, but Final Fantasy XIV is not, was not made by the same people. Oh sure, it says in tilte.. sort of.. but ever since SquareSoft became SquareEnix they've not been the game. I loved FFXI, but I hate FFXIV.
Erm. They merged in April of 2003 and FFXI came out in like October/November of 2003. I'm not gonna argue that Squaresoft was operated in the same was after they merged with Enix but at the end of development and for the last 7 years FFXI has been SquareEnix.
Many of the game's development team remained in the transition of the companies. So the SquareSoft team remained for a builk, but as FFXI got older many of those developers got phased out. By the time Final Fantasy XIV came into the picture, it's a different development team. The bulk load of FFXI's content was made prior to the SquareEnix merge, and various additions and expansions were made by the same crew.
That crew is not the FFXIV crew. That crew is gone. Long gone.
The game was mostly made by Square. Obviously it was in developement by Square for a long time. And the mechanics, the most important part, were created in the beginning by Square. Then subsequently expansions were made, but even ideas and such for those would have been in development already, and again the great foundation had been set by Square.
SquareEnix does have some issues that Square did not seem to have. Im still playing the game, come march.
