I really want to like this game, but i give up.

After failing miserably at every possible turn, i'm giving up early on this one. I've been a final fantasy fan since it came into existance.
but after trying at least 50 times to log in and getting the same login server error, i'm giving up. let people with more patience try, its obviously the american market is an afterthought and that we will always be second hand citizens compared to japaneese who this game was primarily made for. Maybee they have more patience, i love japan, and with a heavily technological society, i expected way better. they practically have cellphones that are televisions and computers all in one, robots than act human, but when it comes to programming login servers, they must have outsourced it to a third world country where portable cd players are the new trend, because this is completely unacceptable by any standards.
techincalities aside, i have a hard time beleiving the game would stand on its own merits in america, surely in japan. but the corny metro characters (i chose a big black giant person) because it looked like the only one that wasnt about to slit his wrists.
they should have went back to the roots, by that i ment final fantasy 1. maybee that infrastructure and code they can handle. but with horrible input lag, the only thing it has is graphics and even as stunning as they are, they will get old. sigh i wish people would realize that a game is about mechancis and not graphics, sure awesome graphics are preferred, but not at the cost of anything decent in the gameplay department..

well now you know how all hte EU players feel whenever they want in a NA game. But i hear your pain. I did get in however and have now pre ordered the game. I thought the gameplay was solid and the world was stunning. I'm now in for the long haul.
would you really pre order a game based on screenshots? i cant even get past the login error. so its a hands down for me. how are pepole even getting past logging in?

Honestly, I can't believe how awesome it must be to have that bad an attitude about the situation. I've tried getting a key for hours, and still don't have it, and meanwhile there's folks that are actually complaining that they can't get in when they already have one. I mean, it's not like their servers are getting bombarded with - very likely - tens of thousands of people trying to do the same thing you are, as well as field the - again likely - even more absurd number of folks pounding their website into the ground trying to get a key. But yeah; to hell with just getting some sleep and enjoying it tomorrow - let's post a thread about how unappreciative and impatient we are about it!
BTW, I couldn't help but giggle at the whole "they practically have cellphones that are televisions and computers all in one" etc. bit. I mean, we here in the US ain't nevar heard of no such new-fangled contraptions! If only my iPhone played video, browsed the internet, checked my email, and allowed me to use thousands (and far more if jailbroken) of applications to suit daily tasks, as well as served as a method of text communication and - above all - allowed me to make calls! Golly-gee, what a gadget that'd be!
Honestly, I just hope the OP is a troll, and I hope the folks who really decide that SE's going belly-up before they can get past the flood of folks logging in all at the same time will gladly pass their keys on to someone else. Make no mistake about it - I'm no FF or SE fanboi, but I just can't get over this kind of post when you're talking about a beta.

Op I really don't have any intrest in this game but I really think you try to stick with it for a little while. Give it a day or two in order for the servers to stabilize then try again. The first few days of any new game can be a rough one, just put some trust in the team...I'm sure they will fix it.

I dont see why anyone is trying to talk this guy out of quiting,
its the first day of open beta, the whole point is so people can smash the login system and the servers and crash it... they did that, now thye have to fix it.
if this was launch, and it was sept 22, or 30 pending on what you ordered and this was happening id be right there with you, but its beta..
Anyway, im from canada and i managed to log in, i made 2 characters just to see the 2 new cities, ill play more tomorrow it is pretty late.

I eventually got in and created my character and played for about 20 minutes. The personality of the characters seemed pretty interesting and I enjoyed the cutscenes but the UI, gameplay, and the general feel of the game is really weird. It just doesnt feel fluid and is overlycomplex. The combat , at least at my low level is rather boring and slow and felt unnatural. Well, thats my opinion on it so far.
Well.. I got my OB key at 3:45 ..1min before the server went "SERVER BUSY" ..and ofc even with the OB key, now I can't login into the Account to insert the OB key lol ..major fail from S-E.
Tip.. queues damnit.. learn a bit from Blizzard. When they put the Celestial Mount for sale they had a neaty queue system to prevent flooding..

Becuase in every post you made before the beta, only thing u did was b*tch and moan about the game. That alone made me think your opinion was biased in every way possible.
