"An MMORPG could be completely diffirent from WoW. Just look at games like Dofus, Wizard101 or EVE. But as it is, most of the Western MMOs are trying to succeed by out-WoWing WoW. It's like an army of 10 sports games made about same sports, and barely none about other sports. WoW clone is an accurate description of those games, it manages to convey much information with only two words."

It will prob level out before too long. It was like this in each phase of the closed beta but after a day or so there were no queues on any server for the most part.
I cant even get in to the quene, just says maintance
My life is a game!
Kinda odd for a 1 Chocobo of 3 server to already have a queue though.

It seemed to me the chocobo is either updated like every other hour, or is based off total population not who all is logged in. Tried to test it some in CB, but just got confused.
There is no queue in Besaid
Worst part of it is, you can't do anything else while waiting.
If you wish to play in fullscreen, you can't Alt+Tab or whatever to do anything else with our PC, the game will just crash.
If you're windowed, think you could surf or watch a vid while waiting? Well think again, after a few minutes without being on focus, the game window will crash too.
So all you can do is stare at an hours-long queue without being able to use your PC for something else in the meantime whatsoever.
I can barely accept those limitations on a console in 2010, but on PC frankly that's just... too much. I can't begin to understand how Square can employ so crappy software engineers. It's just... so unprofessional. So archaic. So unwilling to ease the user experience. Hardships after limitations after struggles... how can they even hope to sell that to casual PC/game users? They shouldn't even bother to address "casuals" in their PR, because there's no way 1% of them will sit through so much crap.
And before any of you ask, I think the game itself is great, if you can forget and cope with its totally unpalatable interface and motion/action control, and software limitations, and horrible lag.
My gosh Square what have you done?!
What hast thou becometh?
What you expect with a game built around the Ps3, Nothing new considering FFXI was built around what the Ps2 was capable of doing. This is definately not a Pc mmo like other games thats for sure.
Short of being a PC MMO, it could at least be a decent PC software...
Back in 2000 I could alt-tab from fullscreen, and my mouse had a hardware implementation. Said mouse wasn't moving in circles but in [x;y] vectors. Here's 2010 but I guess Square doesn't know yet how to code that on Windows.
This has nothing to do with console-PC fairness or console design or anything. It's just about coding a freaking basic part of any software designed for Windows.
It's just bad coding, and a serious lack of QA, or worse a total absence of knowledge on what is a PC-compliant (read: friendly) software. As far as it goes, portages from other systems don't get worse than this on PC. And all of this happens before you even enter the world with your character.
