I'm a bit surprised that so many people are so late to be informed. Beta players knew this game was rather bad since a while now. Mouse in XIV isn't hardware mapped which causes the lag. Every game normally hardware maps the mouse, even FF game. No one knows what happened with XIV. The UI is bad because they made one UI for PS3 and PC. Engine runs smooth on good systems but terrible on anything less, has been known since XIV benchmark, long before open beta. No idea why so many people insist on calling others trolls, everyone knew these issues.

Wow, that's new and exciting information.
That video is just of a guy taking out his frustration with the game settings, or lack there of, which of course is now out-dated, cuz you can change several settings now. Or maybe he just never found the config program that came with it, I dunno.
But basically, he's calling the whole game crap just because he cant change a few settings. Seriously?

Basically, what I can tell you is, don't play it at launch. Give them a few more months to work on it and make whatever optimizations, which is what they are doing anyways, cuz the PS3 can't run it very well right now.
You mean you played in beta phase 2 before the software mouse was fixed? I'm running a 2 1/2 year old machine and the software mouse causes little to no lag on my rig running the game on med/high settings. Even last night with the uber lag I was running pretty smooth.
However, I plugged my USB controller in during the last CBT, and I am 100% going to be playing this game with a controller. (didn't last night cuz I forgot to re-map my buttons before logging in).
It's not that KB+mouse is difficult to use, it's that the controller is just so flippin' easy. Anyone who has a USB gamepad lying around should give it a try.
I'm starting to understand why Japanese players prefer gamepads to KB+mouse...

This is what happened to me with FFXI I was converted forever into wanting to play all games with a controller and I grew up on Doom and Heretic and Counter Strike. I even prefer FPS's now on consoles w/controller. I can still rage any FPS with keyboard/mouse but I just have more fun on a controller.
They are constantly improving the UI sluggishness and such, but hardware mouse won't be in at launch I think. They will be focusing on the parts of this game that run on PS3 and PC and not PC specific stuff right now. Players can take it or leave it.
