So I managed to get a key and apply it to my account late last night (early morning actually) and starting the torrents to DL the patches while i went to sleep.
So after getting the client installed when I go to login for the first time it says that my account does not have the proper services tied to it.
So I go back and check to see if my key was entered properly, to my dismay (despite the recent notifications saying that I registered my FF14 services AND receiving the confirmation email that I tied FF14 to my account) it isn't on my services when I go to "Confirm Account Status" and when I try to input they key in again it says it has already been registered.
SE really wasn't prepared at all for this, which is an insult to the people that have been watching this game since it's announcement., did they not realize their servers would get slammed and prepare for this ahead of time? Pretty disheartening for anyone who plans to play the game once it hits retail.
Any ideas?

Its beta man, It's ment to frustrate us and their servers. For the first week of OB expect the worst.
All servers are down right now for maintenance. Anyone who logs in will get an error... I believe they're scheduled to be back up at 5PM EST.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
I'm aware that they are down but the problem is with my account, it seems as if my beta key was deleted off my account.
I'm not getting an "Server is down for maintenance" error, I'm getting a "You don't even have the proper credentials to connect to the server in the first place" error.
Open betas are so much about stress testing. Every time an mmo goes OB, there are server problems as they get hit hard for the first time. All of this is to hopefully help make the process and the systems better by the time release comes around.
It's not an insult to you or to the people who want to play this game. Beta is beta...it's rough because it has to be. We are technically acting as testers and not just playing a demo.
Keep plugging away and hopefully all of us beating at the servers will make FFXIV a better game stability-wise.
Good luck!!
I would let them know of the problem you are having. After all that's what you're supposed to do in a beta. Playing the beta does give us a good idea what the game will be like but I wouln't fully judge the game with my experience in the beta before throwing it out the window until closer till the end of the beta. Even then they'll still be patching it and improving upon it as time goes on.
I know how frustrating it is. You have a right to feel let down. Maybe a perspective change would help your frustration.
This is what a stress test is for, fill to over flowing and if they crash, then they know the breaking point and they adjust from there. Maybe SE didn't expect the amount of attention this open beta got. The fact that we overwhelmed their servers is a good thing, they know they have a lot of eyes on them to pull this out. Being stuck in their little cubes all these 5 years, we certainly did rattle their cages.
Don't loose heart too soon, it'll all work out in the wash and you will look back and say Hokey rats, I was part of that.
I would let them know but I'm not aware of an offical forum or a support.
I doubt anything will come of it, no big deal, I wasn't really looking forward to this game that much. Just wanted to try it out simply from sheer boredom.
I read about that error. Have you logged into you SE management page of late? It said that they did remove some keys from people who were effected. Do the Add Service thing again and input the same key you were already emailed, don't try to apply for another. World servers are down right now but SE site is up and running.
Yes I've checked my SE account and, like I said, despite it even saying on my notifications that I recently registered FF14 (and got the email saying I did) that it was no longer on my account services and when I try to reinput the key it says it has already been used.
/shrug
If your having trouble with your beta keys I recommend try entering it again as another service, if it says you already have one, cancel the service, and do it again, your key will/should work again after canceling.
The lobby and world servers are down for the moment, so if you can't get in now i'd recommend waiting until they're back up to try this.
But i was having the same problem earlier today, all I did was re-enter the code/apply for the service again and it appears to be workinf fine.
We are continuing to conduct an investigation and implement necessary measures. For those of you who were affected, we have removed the service account for FINAL FANTASY XIV from your Square Enix Accounts. Please log in to Square Enix Account Management System and re-register the service account for FINAL FANTASY XIV to your Square Enix Account.
With the registration code, you do not need to reobtain so please use the registration code you have already obtained.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
I would try to reinput it again but it seems the account servers went back down because I get the Busy error everytime I try to login.
I was able to login to the account page but it still says the key has been registered.
Oh well, moving right along.....
Maybe try the suggestion Wolfen suggested, cancel the service and add it back in.
i have the same issue as OP, the issue is that although the key is registered there is no service that show up. So there is no way to cancel the service and add it again. Im considering cancelling the account and trying to register that key on another account, but im not sure if that would work.
There is no service to cancel, it's not on my account at all anymore.
I've tried using my key on a second account I made the day before yesterday and it tells me the same thing: "The beta key is already registered"
Although I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this particular problem.
No, that key is tied to the user name it was sent too. It wouldn't work for any other account.
Well, even though it doesn't help much, things are congested and no one is getting in anyway. Actually I am going to take a nap now.. Was up way past my bedtime last night..LOL. Good luck y'all. Hope it gets figured out.
This is incorrect - you can give your key to someone else to use(if you aren't going to use it). Obviously the same code won't work for multiple accounts if it's already 'activated'.
Anyone else having this problem or have found/heard of a solution?
Well it looks like people who have this particular problem are screwed, seeing as how there hasn't been any comments on this problem directly and what they have said pertaining to this in the slightest way doesn't help/work at all.
Also the fact that the official support from SE isn't available for FF14 because "It is an unfinished product and isn't design to fully work" is what a SE customer service rep told me in chat support. Which is funny because my problem isn't with the game itself at all, but with the very shoddy account management system they currently have in place.
As I've said in my previous posts...
Oh, well....moving right along...
Question: Is Borked Mork's brother, and is he from Ork as well?
I'd backtrack and chck you have not missed something. A lot of people are registering fine and other than net latency and maintenance slots things seem fine rsgistering your issues will help the developers...
Remember its only a game and they will be working their socks off.
