Hi all,
I just had a look at http://www.ffxiv-status.com/ and see round trip times in the 250-300ms range. That smells like the servers are in Japan and would explain some slow responses. Which is fine for a beta test and can be tolerated for a stress test. However, I find roundtrip times >200ms simply unacceptable for live play.
Anyone have any idea where the servers are going to be located for live play? Or are those round trip times caused by the stress test and I am just jumping the gun?

as far as I know they are all going to be in Japan.
These are international servers all hosted by SE at their home location, same as FFXI. For an mmo, 200-300ms is completely fine. Especially one like FF where you aren't spamming actions. If you were playing a FPS then, sure I could understand. If it was over 500 I wouldn't play, but you aren't likely to get anything less than you have now.
