FFXIV has encountered a critical error

I recieve this message when I double click the FFXIV icon. I know loads of other people have also had this problem. Anyone find a fix for it, a workaround, or just given up?
My laptop specs are:
4gb 1300mhz Ram
i3-350M @ 2.5GHZ
ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4330
Works on my desktop but not my laptop. Desktop is:
6GB 1600MHZ Ram
i7-970 @ 4GHZ
GTX 480
OCZ Vertex 2 120GB
However, even on my desktop the game chops in highly populated areas. I'd say the average FPS is 10-30.

I'm having the same problem. I posted a rather lengthy post over at (http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/13107-beta-client-ffxivbootexe-error/page__st__20) at the bottom of page 2 under the same username with sysinfo and dxdiag file. I've tried just about everything including a lot with the video driver...I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that the "canned response" of "it's your driver" does not apply here.
