Wanting a new video card to play WoW?

I am wanting to buy a new video card for WoW  I have a Pci 1.0 slot but 2.0 cards are welcomed as they are backwards compatible. My price range is fairly low right now $20-$60, just something that would play wow and not lag a-lot.

Also one more ?, I have played almost every MMORPG except for wow do I have to buy The battlechest plus WOTLK or jut WOTLK?

uhhhh... huh? How are you able to play a lot of the recent game with Pci 1.0? That just is unheard of! You must get A TON of graphic lag.

Okay, just go here and select your price range. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=48&name=Desktop-Graphics-Video-Cards

if you have played alot of aaa rated mmo's then you shouldnt need any new video card to run that cartoon of a game

as for what you need if you dont have any version of the game yes you need the chest

Well, I want to see your full spec or your Dx.diag to be sure if it is worth it.

1.0 is really slow, today all cards have 2.0 and 3.o is just around the corner. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express

If I were you I would try to check if any of my friends who just upgraded wouldn't sell their old computer, something that is 3 years old and just lying around, not impossible to get really cheap.

Same goes for GFX card, someone is bound to have an 8800 card lying collecting dust at home and should be willing to sell it too you. It is still pretty ok card and your PCI-E port can't take any more anyways, 250 mb/s max isn't that great.

Otherwise are you a bit out of luck because all older cards that would cost in your price range are sold out and newer cards suck a lot worse. You might be able to find an old 8600 or 9600 card in your pricerange if you ask in your local store however.

But I think the computer gods are telling you: Time to upgrade. Save money until you get the 500 bucks you need for an at least acceptable computer instead of wasting $70 now and being forced to upgrade as soon as CATA comes out or you want to play another MMO that is slightly newer.

    Good luck.

    WoW PCI 1.0 ... do you have a 485?

To run wow with all the whistles on I recommend a hd5770 or 260gtx

I run a 5770 1gig with a 8400 intel - running wow at 50-60FPS with all settings on MAX and at 1920x1080. and x4 AA.

The days of running wow on a toaster are long gone.

Slightly hijacking the thread (Sorry, OP!), I am wondering if I could/should upgrade my system (Having Cata, Diablo 3 and Civilization 5 in mind)

    ~Windows XP Home 32bit

    ~Intel Quad Core Q9400 a 2,67Ghz

    ~GForce 9800GT,

    ~4GB Ram

    ~500Gb Harddisk

Not sure if I missed anything

Come on man, did you even read the whole post?

He wants something in the $50 price range, you telling him something that is in the $150 - $200 price range.  He doesn't need something to run max at 60 fps, a huge upgrade for this guy would probably be medium at 30fps.
