Hi guys
I'm getting horrible frame rate and I remember a post that someone said you need to change a setting on your graphics card settings to boost frame rate by a lot. I can't find the post now though.
Anyone remember what it is you change? I've already dropped the in-game settings as much as it lets you.

Is it ambient occlusion? Thats a game setting but I believe its also a setting on video cards so I guess make sure its disabled on both or at least the video card one is set to Application Preference. Ive heard ambient occlusion brings people from like 50 fps to like 5 fps when its turned on.
If its not ambient occlusion I'd be interested in knowing what it is also so I can increase my FPS.
I can't say for sure but if it helps usually there are graphics options in the game settings like anti-aliasing you can turn off to boost performance by a lot. Shadows etc. also can be disabled to boost performance.
-Again, I can't say for sure if this is the settings your looking for, I just know those are general settings that help-
yea thats true too Shadows usually give you massive fps when they are disabled (I havnt tried it in this game though)
im having same problem as op. let me know plsplspls if u fix it
for now, if your fps is unnacceptable, turn off ambient occlusion, turn off aa, turn down shadow levels, im playing on an old laptop with a 3 ghz core 2 e8400 800 mhz ram 4 gigs and twin 8800 gtx 512 mb sli vid with a 7200 rpm hard drive and have the game very playable on high textures just by tuneing down these unoptimized features, if they get the game to use sli anytime soon ill be able to turn shadows back up and aa to my likings
Hey guys, hope this helps some people.
My setup is this:
Core2Duo E7500 @ 3.8GHZ
8 Gigs of DDR2 800
500GB HDD (7200 RPM)
260GTX SLi
Nothing spectacular, but I was still pretty bummed getting 15 FPS in town and 20-25 FPS out in the field, so I started messing around with a few things.
Here are my current settings :
Display Mode : Windowed (Using FFXIV Windower)
Window Size : 1440 x 900 (native)
Multisampling : 2x MSAA
Buffer Size: Normal
Shadow Detail: Lowest (Turned off in game)
Texture Quality: Standard
Texture Filtering: High
Then, in the nVidia control panel (make sure you have advanced options enabled)
Under Manage 3D Settings:
Force VSync and Triple Buffering
Set Max Pre-rendered frames from 5 (Default of recommended 3)
Set Threaded Optimization to ON (from auto)

Getting about 30-40 in town, 40-60 in the field now.
ur not gonna see frame rate hike until nvidia releases their new drivers that have specific tunes for ffxiv. I spoke with a Nvidia rep today at PAX and he told me that "he couldn't specify exactly when the drivers would be released but that the drivers were for specific games ( e.g. ffxiv ) and that we could expect the drivers to be released soon ( e.g. probably first week of ffxiv release )
Usually its 1-2 weeks after a major launch. This was always the case with WoW and FFXI when something was added to the game the card didnt like.
By the way I tried adjusting the settings but it didnt work,
