Now I remember

Well I went back to SWG this weekend and if nothing else it reminded me why I left.

There have been some pretty good improvements in a lot of areas. I wont bother listing them because others like Erillion have already done a fine job spelling out the positive changes and they are right about all of it. The game overall has improved in many ways.

However my return confirmed that this game just does not seem to be for me. I love the SW universe and I guess maybe a bit too much, because SWG never convinced me I was part of it in the same way the Dark Forces and Jedi Knight games did. Its completely personal because I know thats not the same thing everyone feels about the presentation in SWG.

The next thing that slapped me in the face and reminded me of former pain was the battle fatigue / wounds thing. Having to find an entertainer used to pi$$ me off no end when the server actually had a population, now its a lot quieter and trying to lose your BF is BS, I hated this system then, I hate it even more now.

In short I have at least discovered that its not the game. There is nothing wrong with SWG and right now its in a format that it should have been on release. Chances are if you can get past the same stuff that stops me, you will have a great time. I will probably play out my month in the hope I may find ways around the stuff that pi$$es me off, because I desperately want to play this game.

As for now though.... its like those relationships you have where one of you wants to leave the other and instead of taking the time to list the hundred little things that irritate you to death about your partner.... you just say... "its not you, its me"

"Well SWG my Darling, we may have to part again for good..... but its not you.... its me" image

I think its because Jedi Knight was a solo game .. and NPCs behaved like they should. Same in KOTOR .. or even more so.

Real people in a MMORPG (with the possible exception of roleplaying guilds/cities) dotn behave like Star Wars characters .. and dont talk that way. That breaks immersion, especially if you are a hard core SW fan. If that is the case you either love the game (like me) or become irritated by it. I assume its the later for you. And that cant be helped ... try EVE ... contact me as Ian Novarider there. Also a great SF game.

About BF .. actually I always thought thats the easiest thing. Most player cities and/or guilds have their own entertainers (live at prime time, AFK at off-peak hours) and 95 % of the time it only takes me about 1 minute to get rid of all Battle fatigue. Maybe 3 min if I have 999 of 1000. And usually the cantinas in Mos Eisley, bestine, theed and coronet have at least once entertainer active. But if you are unguilded and without a base of operations (= no house) ... and unfamiliar with the services of player cities on your server ... I see your point. why not go Terka Kasi and just meditate all of it away ? then you are completely independent .. and its a very useful profession !

    Whatever you play next ....

    HAVE FUN

Yeah you hit the nail on the head Erillion, I was thinking about it after I posted.... its not the game its the other players as far as the immersion goes.

Your also right about TK. I think im going to do that for my month of play and see how far I can get into TK, hopefully I will learn to love more about it over the next few weeks.

Actuially TK's can't meditate BF away, just wounds.

Is it the Jedi that can meditate wounds and BF away ? Someone can ... I have seen an ability that does that.

    Have fun

jedi healer tree has a skill for bf healing. but i know what you mean about just not being for you. i reupped for a month and cancelled so it didn't auto renew, just so i could try the CU and play a little with my friends, and it was the usual "nothing to do" feeling i felt before i left. got in on a guild hunt for goraxes, which was fun, but i have all the weapons armor and food i could ever need, so farming/grinding missions is pointless, pvp is now the exclusive domain of the exploited jedi masters, what's left of it anyway, and it's just not the same game it was before the dark times, before the holocronsimage i might try out the CU when they add skills to blue frogs, but as far as a full time comeback it just doesn't look worth it.
