I'm in the process of downloading it, so I can give it a try, see what it's like and help with some testing.
But I must say, the amount of bizarre posts here today is starting to put me off. Its like some sort of religious exchange going on. Guy 1 says he didnt like it and lists his reasons, and guy 2 says "then you're an idiot, it's a brilliant game, you obviously just like rubbish like WoW" so guy 1 says "I hate the controls, this is the worst system ever! It HAS to be changed NOW!" and guy 2 says "You know nothing, its the best thing and everyone should use it!"
Who cares? Its a game! Some people will hate it, some people will be bored, some people will think its ok, some people will love it and have a fantastic time. Forums are supposed to be somewhere we can discuss problems, help each other out, and report issues we have - not claim that Final Fantasy is the Second Coming and the greatest thing ever, or for that matter, that its the Devil and needs to fail big time.
If you don't like it, or don't enjoy it - its a free beta test. You haven't lost anything, so delete it, and move on. And if you love it, fantastic! Get in there and play and stop telling everyone that they must be WoW fans!
Geez guys, get some perspective, and stop filling the front page with FF posts that all say the same 2 things!

Why do I need to stop running to unsheathe my weapon ? Its ******* annoying as ****.
Why does it not immediately respond when I do unsheathe my weapon ? Hit it twice on accident and you're screwed.
There are two kinds of mobs in this world at any given time .... the ones that you're too powerful for, and the ones that are too powerful for you. They do not scale up gradually whatsoever. A creature that hits for 30, sits within walking distance of creatures that hit for 1200. I am not exaggerating on this either.
Who's balls do I have to massage to get a new weapon ? Armor ? If you say I'm forced to craft (on any of these points) then I will slap you in the mouth.
Why doesn't the tab-targeting go to either A- the creature that is attacking you .... or B- the creature that is closest to you. Instead it goes in order of .... of ... threadcount for all I know. I'll just use the mouse .... easy unless you're playing a full-size race and attacking a small size creature. The auto-camera adjust keeps you right in front of it so you can't make that much needed click while a mob is lunching on you.
Why doesn't the mages targeting work more efficiently in times of AOE ? Why are you forced to hit spell, move your hand to the mouse, decide the area you want to hit, and then confirm the target ? I'm already targeting something. Pressing the action key should cast that spell. Done.
Heres a thought ... lets make it easier for PC's to get weapons / armor. How about we put them in the (archers, pugilist etc..) guild HQ ? As opposed to every noob walking in there thinking that there is something valuable to be learned, seen, or had. (myself included)
Why does it take so long to talk to vendors ? Why don't we know what they're selling before we waste 30 seconds a piece on them ?
Why does it take so long to sell things ?
Why can't I do multiple quests while I'm out ? This is a big one for me. You want me to have to walk ... back ... every ... single ... time. After the 4 quests that I had I needed a new pair of Nike Air Moogles. (this one may be possible to do somehow, but I didn't figure it out) I know you can teleport, but that is only half as good as it needs to be. It still does not compare to being able to check multiple quests.
Would it kill them to make the toons run a little faster ? Yes I know chocobos are planned. However, I think I may shoot myself at the thought of how long that process will take. Dismounting, unsheathing (and not being able to walk), walking up to the mob (if you're close range) and finally ... finally attacking.
Why don't the mobs drop gear ?
Why don't the mobs drop gear !?
Seriously ... why don't they drop gear ...
Alright, a bit of information regarding your questions. I believe to your first point, it has something to do with culture. The act of drawing your weapon, focusing on an opponent, and beginning combat is something that I believe is taken too lightly in the US. They give a detailed bit of explanation about the significance of transition between active and passive modes. –HOWEVER- I did notice I could simply just run up to a lot of mobs, and hit an attack button, and it would pretty much occur instantly. I’ve done this on multiple classes. –However- The time it takes for the Miner to take out his pick axe is pretty annoying and doesn’t seem like there is any way around it.
Check your Settings, if you’re not running 4 cores, set them lower, the game does not auto-config your settings, the stock settings are way too trying for the min. System requirements, the Recommend System requirements are core I7’s… Also, the Server lag is very bad, which is why this is a beta test. They are working behind the scenes working. But with the optimal conditions you typically only deal with about 1 to 2 second delay from the server at time. Since your inputs go like this keyboard-> System-> Client> Server. If your game is not performing well, you get delay first from your computer struggling to handle the game, then your input goes into the game, your system tries to put the input in. THEN it goes to the server and you wait. You have to minimize your client’s effect on your system to get around this. My Core 2 Duo’s are running at a constant 75% plus, on close to the lowest settings.
I agree, I don’t think I found a Consider option, attacking random mobs can get you rick rolled, I put in a Request to Square-enix via the Support team (where all Open Beta test suggestions go now)
There are Stores that sell weapons an armor in each town, you just have to pull up the map, then wait for the map to load the names of places, it’s not difficult, I actually have like 5 classes played so far on my one character.
The Tab Targeting is also something I submitted a complaint about…However, There is a Target closest mob key, which lets you scroll through mobs a tad bit faster. It is one of the function keys I forget which, F5 I think it is. You can see it in your config.
When casting spells, hit the spell number, then enter, then enter your done. The reason for the confirmation is pretty much EVERY spell is an area of effect, to not start teaching you from moment one to double check, not spam, would be shaping up for some very difficult and trying group experiences later on. Casting a spell for me is generally very quick albeit in a lag spike confirming sucks, and with my settings the way that they are I can only imagine how bad it is for someone that is playing on the normal settings without changing it. That would be a total of nearly 6 seconds per cast.
Everyone is supposed to be a “newbie” when a new game starts, a lot of quests drop armor and such, there are npcs which have a good variety of weapons and armor when you get the money for them, of course these are pretty much the start weapons and stuff for each class. I do admit, They Make no effort of trying to explain the map, or ways Separate the npcs that are just there from the ones that are actually relevant to something. I submitted complaints about this already.
Talking to Vendors- See my 2ndParagraph , same for Selling things
This I don’t really understand myself, but it is more than likely because the Guildleve’s are kind of instanced, you can really expect to have multiple instances running at once. I do admit however, there needs to be more types of Quests than Guildleve’s I am actually looking for different kinds of real- tangible quests, after all, I doubt SE would make that many npcs and then not have them be really worth talking to. I was actually hoping in this sense it would be more like Nier (Action rpg for PS3 and Xbox 360) I doesn’t really bother me however, Teleporting back and starting another quest isn’t hard, just wait for the Aetheric Node to appear after you kill the final mob. Then interact with it.
Square-Enix always, always creates running speed items, usually shoes, they also have Haste Spells and stuff which will make you move faster, there is also a reward item that gives you increased movement speed if you have an FFXI account when you register the retail version of the game. So your Movement speed will get faster. However, Don’t run with your weapon out, it makes you run slower, you can find that information in game, and also you don’t regen with your weapon out anyway so there is no point to it, if you’re not fighting. Also, I think they plan on having some form of Mounted Combat, don’t quote me on that, they just seem to be really shady about chocobo’s, Extra shady, Which means they want to do something big.
The mobs in Final Fantasy Generally Don’t drop gear; it is rare in any final fantasy game to have mobs with weapons in their loot tables. However the beastmen of the may have a chance to drop equipment, it possibly won’t be much good but it will be something, but Square-enix put a lot of thought behind the drops, loot, and beginning harvests. You can pretty much kill mobs and then go craft something out of the stuff they drop it looks like. I haven’t tried crafting yet, but I am sure there are going to be rare spawns that drop good items equipment.
However, I suggest, that you follow beta Procedure and instead of crying about the game as it is, try to help chance it by submitting information, so they can fix it with some last minute changes and patches. A lot of stuff we have a problem with is the UI, the response, and the amount of resources the game takes up.
You have some very valid points, if this was the actual finished product of the game, I would be like pissed. It’s a beta test, it’s them asking the players not to play the game, not to just enjoy the game, but to help them by being a fresh pair of hands and eyes. A lot of the Mechanics in the game I really like, everything is a diverse kind of action, nothing is just Action A- Yields B.
And also, please Edit the Crafting information from your post, I understand Crafting is still under NDA.
Currently my problem is, there are so many flame topics on a site like this, all flaming the same thing. Where the heck are the moderators at. I mean this just doesn’t help anyone, it just encourages us to judge a game on the beta test, instead of actually allowing the developers the chance to get things right.
I mean honestly all this information released or hitting the forums have all be pretty much Bad on this website concerning this game. Like MMORPG.com is taking money from blizzard to ensure this game gets as little exposure good exposure as possible.
Yes, The Hype meter went Down, Well, I wonder why. Every little Idea, no matter how good those Idea are, get flamed openly, the fanboys act like fanboys, driving people away. Mmorpg.com posted the only negative detail found about this game admist of all the other information, and spun it way more negative that it actually is, then didnt report anything on the beta test information, the beta test it'self I mean, this website doesnt even have a Link to the Min. System Requirements of anything of this game.
Honestly tho, I encourage you, instead of flaming the game on the forums, and potentially lowering the intial population of this game, go to Square-enix support website, Submit your Questions and Concerns, and then Continue to play the beta, and try to find bugs and stuff, and report them.3

Just to be able to play FFXIV. Consider that, a Warning.
I wouldn't say its terrible, I would just say it is not a game that was designed for typecasted "mmo gamers" in mind. I guess I just had really high hopes that this would be a traditional mmo, as there hasn't been one in a long time.
Warhammer I suppose was the last ? Citation ?
God forbid developers try something different. Terrible design choice. The last 1000 WoW clones that came out on the market are flourishing. /sarcasm off
Jesus aged christ thats a lot of text to justify some of the terrible mechanics in this game. I love how you call active and passive mode an "art" lol. Can you imagine a dual in an old western town being like that. They draw their revolver which takes 2 seconds, then they have to "target" the other guy and finally shoot him.
Please read this at your own risk; these opinions are purely my own, and they may be rather jaded due to a lifetime of mmos, gaming, and a slough of dead hookers.
Allow me to preface this by also saying that I have been anticipating this game, like many of you, for a very very long time ... and I know that I may be getting a lot of the following statements once publishing my thoughts thus far.
"It's only the beta and you're already ______"
"So leave then."
"Go play [insert historical mmo] if you feel that way." ... etc. etc.
I know the difference between bugs, server speeds, lags ... and game mechanics. My complains are with the game itself.
By now you can most likely tell that the tone of what is to come is nothing less than disappointment.
A few days ago I began the beta and I was immediately wowed. The cut-scenes, the detail, the music, the environments was purely breath taking and left me nothing less than awestruck.
Now, allow me to put the rest into bullet-points for easy digestion. I've made all attempts to not discuss the bugs that are bothering me. I'm confident those will be worked out. What I am discussing here is game mechanics primarily.
Once I began playing I found everything to be very slow-paced, but I thought to myself .... perhaps I'm just getting used to everything. Perhaps its server lag. Perhaps .... no.
^ I felt the same way
A short while later I found myself done with 4 quests. Sweet. Moving right along here. Cool right ? WRONG. The game is pretty much done at this point unless you want to craft. I hope you enjoyed yourselves. Once you hit this brick wall it is boring ... and there is nothing to do. What does SE *INTEND* on you doing at this point ? Could they have possibly overlooked that you will have NOTHING to do ? You can grind if you can find a mob that is your level. Can you con the mob to see if its your level ? If you can I have no clue how.
^Haven't hit this wall yet...thankfully. I havent' had the patience to sit through the delays long enough to do them all.
There are not nearly enough mobs. Here is where you will say - well Omasu, all the beginning farm areas are being overpopulated blah blah ... bullshit. I walked for (again, not exaggerating) 15 / 20 mins and didn't see a single person or mob in some of the off-the-beaten-path areas.
Why do I need to stop running to unsheathe my weapon ? Its ******* annoying as ****.
^ I Agree.
Why does it not immediately respond when I do unsheathe my weapon ? Hit it twice on accident and you're screwed.

^ Playing a Thamaturge and I couldn't agree more. Two of my three abilites up to lvl 5 I had to click my target, click the spell, click the target again (that was already targeted), rinse repeat.
^ The last two problems could be alieviated slightly if they just made the sell and buy windows on two tabs of the same window rather than having to go back out to the main menu of the merchant to access the different mode.
Why can't I do multiple quests while I'm out ? This is a big one for me. You want me to have to walk ... back ... every ... single ... time. Why don't the mobs drop gear !?
Seriously ... why don't they drop gear ...
Its slow and boring (not the game in general, just the amount of content that is available so far (which I am assuming they will not change anytime soon)) ... and I'm sure most of that won't change. I'm not looking for halo speed, but somewhere between EQ2 and Warhammer would be nice. It appears as though everything has been purposely developed to prevent you from getting to be a grinder. Run out of quests ? Yeah, go craft something is not for me. The crafting system is dishonorable as well. "Lets make 10 bronze wires .... in order to make 1 bronze ring. Now, you need 10 bronze rings to make 1 chainmail sleeve. Now, you need 2 sleeves and a chestpiece to make 1 piece of armor." (I'm exaggerating slightly).
Again, perhaps I am jaded. I am a gamer in every sense of the word. I also got upset when I heard about the fatigue system, and perhaps this game just is not for my play-style. Perhaps I'm don't have a good enough understanding (as stated above) Let me beat you to it .... after all it is still the beta. I know, I know.
I originally thought to myself, there is nothing that would prevent me from playing this game. I was wrong. I cancelled my pre-order.
Feel free to add your thoughts. Or if anyone feels the same way about any of the bullets I have, just quote the bullet and say ^^ "THIS" agreeably.
note - I also posted this on a different FFXIV related forum in hopes that I would get some feedback to cure some of these woes. I'm really hoping I have not learned enough about this game in the 3 or 4 days I've been playing. I would rather someone say, here is how you do that OR here is how I get around being bored while advancing my toon .... so that I may enjoy this game like many of you.
note - the hype meter has went significantly down, I cannot be the only one with many of these thoughts.
Cheers.
See orange above.
With that being said, I will still be purchasing this game basically due to the lack of other mmos for me to play right now. I'm hanging my hopes on the fact that the game will encourage community at some point which is what I'm looking for.
Yeah...i wouldn't call it WoW syndrome.....but it is a good name for it. Probably just not the type of game for you. If you didn't like FFXI then your not ging to like FFXIV
Everyone needs to get off their high horse. FFXI is my favorite MMO of all time and I myself did not find FFXIV very enjoyable the first couple hours. I was very dissapointed with it.. I had to force myself to keep playing the game before I started to enjoy it. I don't expect anyone else to do that.
I do like this game but I find myself defending the people who do not because some of the comments of the fanboiz are just ridiculous. The couple posts above me also go on to prove my point.
Not liking this game is a perfectly vaild response and it has nothing to do with WoW.
FFXI was my first MMO and I enjoyed my time there. I moved on to EQ2 to play with some friends but then tried to return to FFXI later, but could not. I just could not get back into the game. For me, FFXIV is a return to my roots that I am hoping is slightly more friendly than FFXI was. My guess is this is the same feeling the OP gets when he compares FFXIV to traditional MMOs.
That being said, this has everything to do with WoW, as WoW is a traditional MMO.
Wrong. Your enjoyment of this game shouldn't have anything to do with WoW. If you're sick and tired of all the MMOs nowadays having good UI and responsive combat, and a decent tutorial, that's fine. But the truth is it is your ignorance that throws other "traditional" MMOs in with WoW. Almost all MMOs out there have unique features and something different to offer. Some people are just too blinded by their obssessive hatered for WoW to notice and thus look for the extremes regardless if they are good or bad. It's just you being desperate... and when I see you i mean people in general.
An NPC telling me to watch the crafting animations to determine how well I'm doing or what to do next is horrible instruction. Can't tell you how many times I failed at crafting 1 maple lumber because there is NO indication as to what to do during the crafting process.
I'm in the process of downloading it, so I can give it a try ....
(cont.) ... If you don't like it, or don't enjoy it - its a free beta test. You haven't lost anything, so delete it, and move on. And if you love it, fantastic! Get in there and play and stop telling everyone that they must be WoW fans!
Once you play it you will understand jayanti. I sincerely felt the same way as you did until I got my hands on it.
UI is killing me. the mouse lags and i cant zoom my mouse in and out using magic is hard and when i change wepans i got no skill ponits but i got exp i really wish they fix the UI and mouse lag and they do need more mob too
Any game that uses craft driven gear is going to get a thumbs up from me. Its one of the things I miss most from the original SWG. Heck, great crafters were more famous than most of the PvPers. That was awesome and it really gave the game a sense of community.
It also means that non-combat oriented players will be able to enjoy the game AND contribute to it. When I had a crafter on SWG, there was nothing that made me happier than having someone send me a tell asking me if I was available to take an order for droids. Early on, I got a huge order from a bounty hunting guild that I couldn't fill because I didn't have factories. They FRONTED me the money instead of payment on delivery. I finished their order and actually had a sending offer to join their guild; I refused as I was a business man and refused to play favorites. Regardless, I had contributed to the enjoyment of other people's game. I had added something to the community.
Being able to just go out and kill for your loot is one of the reasons people get greedy and the MMO community tends to be poor. When you have to depend on others for what you need, you tend to be a lot nicer and polite to people. This concept enhances the feeling and NEED for community. It will keep the jerks from being complete jerks because they will need others to get their goodies. Amazing how that works...
but in all seriousness why do u have to wait 24 or 48 hours for ur levequest to be retaken after "failing" it
Its not like i failed it anyways,I just got a crit error on the client and boom, when i relog its "failed"
I do have to agree with this statement. If the client crashes or even if you do fail the quest for whatever reason, you should be able to re-do the quest without a cooldown.
Once I began playing I found everything to be very slow-paced, but I thought to myself .... perhaps I'm just getting used to everything. Perhaps its server lag. Perhaps .... no.
Menus are slow ill give you that. IDK if thats something that can/will be fixed or not but my fingers are crossed. Combat for me has picked up TREMENDOUSLY, but I have leveled multiple classes and have multiple skills on my bar to use.
I have found stuff to do to keep me entertained but to each there own on this. I personally find being told what to do and where to go much less entertaining.
I am a big ffxiv fan but I have to agree with you on this there does seem to be a shortage, with a lot of empty space, but this is fixable, and i assume launch might be more populated mob wise.
Why do I need to stop running to unsheathe my weapon ? Its ******* annoying as ****.
again i agree with you here it sux having to stop running to do it, but i can live with that.
Why does it not immediately respond when I do unsheathe my weapon ? Hit it twice on accident and you're screwed.
ohh i have hit it twice too, oh god, hopefully the lag gets fixed!
Maybe launch will have more mobs, maybe not. I hope because your dead right about this. I dont know if your suposed to have new armor by the time you fight those mobs or if there needs to be mobs scaled to those. I hope armor doesnt make that much difference
Who's balls do I have to massage to get a new weapon ? Armor ? If you say I'm forced to craft (on any of these points) then I will slap you in the mouth.
you have to message a blacksmiths balls to get a new weapon! Your not forced to craft anything. but You have 2 options! 1) craft it yourself or 2) find a crafter.
The auto-camera adjust keeps you right in front of it so you can't make that much needed click while a mob is lunching on you.
no problem here with targeting
Why doesn't the mages targeting work more efficiently in times of AOE ? Why are you forced to hit spell, move your hand to the mouse, decide the area you want to hit, and then confirm the target ? I'm already targeting something. Pressing the action key should cast that spell. Done.
Idk about mage, i have not played a mage class.
Heres a thought ... lets make it easier for PC's to get weapons / armor. How about we put them in the (archers, pugilist etc..) guild HQ ? As opposed to every noob walking in there thinking that there is something valuable to be learned, seen, or had. (myself included)
I somewhat agree on this, just to get the players going at the start.
Why does it take so long to talk to vendors ? Why don't we know what they're selling before we waste 30 seconds a piece on them ?
this is the lag that i hope gets fixed
Why does it take so long to sell things ?
tend to agree here idk why they made some extra menus to sell stuff
Why can't I do multiple quests while I'm out ? This is a big one for me. You want me to have to walk ... back ... every ... single ... time. After the 4 quests that I had I needed a new pair of Nike Air Moogles. I think this is a symptom of wow syndrome that another guy brought up in this thread.
Would it kill them to make the toons run a little faster ? Yes I know chocobos are planned. However, I think I may shoot myself at the thought of how long that process will take. Dismounting, unsheathing (and not being able to walk), walking up to the mob (if you're close range) and finally ... finally attacking.
again wow syndrome, I am willing to bet once were not so noobish running around traveling will be easy just like it was in ffxi. You started slower than a turtle, and eventually got OP warps, airship travel, choco's and teleports.
Why don't the mobs drop gear ? (three words)

my text in red just incase someone didnt know already
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore) Now Playing: N/A Worst MMO: FFXIV Favorite MMO: FFXI
There are 8 classes built ENTIRELY around crafting ONLY. That is their life, as such, the games economy will be created by the players mobs drop materials, players make the gear.
i remember anouther mmo that took this way of play HORIZONS and that was a great hit ).
ps: so if crafting is not youre thing i think ya better of saying way. im not a crafter i like group, adventure, kill things and find loot from time to time but to me finding the odd bit of leather and animal parts do not cut it for me it just takes the explore and find factor away that i play mmos for.
You know while WoW has the highest subscription numbers there's way more than 12 million MMO players. Yeah, most may have played WoW at some point, but I wouldn't hesitate to assume most don't.
WoW is not an excuse for SE making a terrible game. There are many MMOs better than FF XIV, and that includes F2P ones. The only people to blame for FF XIV are SE.
This is your opinion and that fine by me but say this is a terrible game just because you dont like it is a little rash, and i cannot agree with you when you say most dont have play wow because in fact before wow most of people didnt know about mmo. Anyway for me SE always deliver what i expect from them.
Please read this at your own risk; these opinions are purely my own, and they may be rather jaded due to a lifetime of mmos, gaming, and a slough of dead hookers.

First off, thank your for actually putting coherent sentences together to form a concise string of critiques. After reading post after post of raw rage, I'm happy to read a post with some thought.
Secondly, let me say that FFXI was/is my favorite mmo of all time. I will always have a special little place in my gaming heart. I too was taken aback when I booted up FFXIV in closed beta. It's such a massively different game on many levels. It still has echoes of FFXI and I supposed that is why I decided to put my head down and figure this beast out.
Now in open beta, I am having a lot of fun with it. I completely understand your issues with the game and even agree with some of your points (ie. slow ui response, laggy controls etc.)! After perusing these forums for the last few days, I realize that this is an amazingly polarizing game.
I still must applaud you and others who are putting a good faith effort into trying/testing this game and coming away with mature critiques -- albeit a little crass...but still made me chuckle. :P
I do wish there would be more of this mature debate and more understanding from both sides that we don't all have to like this game or learn to like it. Some of us just prefer a more traditional mmo.
Thats OK!!
Seriously...it's ok to like WoW or LoTRO or WAR!! It's also just as OK to like FFXI and FFXIV!! But if we are to come to a forum and debate, it should be on a more mature level and we should leave out the flames and insults (esp. the insults). One is not somehow a caveman for liking a traditional mmo nor are they blind for liking a FF mmo in spite of the bugs and ui difficulties etc.
All-in-all, kudos for your list of critiques and kudos to those who have responded with mature debate and counter-points.
I do intend to keep pushing ahead and having fun with this game and hoping very much for release to bring more awesomeness.

You're welcome, and thank you for the kind words. Its my hope that some of the team members of SE are currently in the process of listening to their critiques, praises, compliments, suggestions, and feedback in order tune this game a little better. Therefore, I make every attempt to convey my point in a "e-rage"-less manner.
To your point, you're very correct. This is entirely a love/hate type of game and as such everyone will have thoughts on what will make it more fun and enjoyable for them. This does not mean that SE should cater to the whims of every individual, but perhaps do whatever is best for the masses in general.
All in all, they have had around 200,000 pre-orders previous to the open beta and the growth of this figure has declined very very steeply since then. Some could say "yes, everyone already has their copy" and others could argue that seeing the game live has caused them to halt their order, or in my case, return it.
Its a shame that games cannot be everything for everyone, and perhaps that is why WoW consistently gets brought up by many of the loud-mouth defenders of anything whenever communication is not shaping up to their benefit. (Citation: OmegaFlare from above) ... because it (wow) did come pretty close for better or worse.
I personally saw the potential of what this game (and FF world) could have been for my personal mmo tastes, and it unfortunately missed the mark as a traditional mmo.
... but it is hands down one of the pretties things I've ever seen on my computer screen. With the exception of certain female exclusions and varieties of course. After all, I am still human.
I just think OP is Internet trolling myself. XIV is perfectly playable as near as I can tell at OB. the issues that get put up are a little nonsensical, for example mouse is fine for most with a reasonable system, and given the numbers of people who game with an iPhone these days surely not a huge issue. similarly with game play, if you like games that put question marks above all relevant npcs to guide you that's fine too. but, just to come out and say the game is trash is nasty as while not to your tastes, it may be to others.

And yet lag and command speeds end up in your critique.
By now you can most likely tell that the tone of what is to come is nothing less than disappointment.
A few days ago I began the beta and I was immediately wowed. The cut-scenes, the detail, the music, the environments was purely breath taking and left me nothing less than awestruck.
If their are things that can make you go "awe" then you cant be left with nothing less then disapointment, no?
Now, allow me to put the rest into bullet-points for easy digestion. I've made all attempts to not discuss the bugs that are bothering me. I'm confident those will be worked out. What I am discussing here is game mechanics primarily.
Yet again, you do include lag and buggy respones in your critique.

Yes crass and sarcastic, agreed. Which is fine. But so much of these issues I see being resolved by tweeking which is required in any new MMO. Others, like the player driven economy and the transportation system are integral to game design and cannot be fully understood in a beta. Also experience provided from mobs, mob strength and the amount of mobs available at any given time would logically be something they decide based on the info they are going to get from this OB and stress testing, not to mention something they would continue to tweek as time goes on. I understand how these things could be gamebreaking if this were sometime after release, but you are playing a beta so its "beta-breaking" and the idea is to tell SE whats making the beta a deal breaker.
Im apprehensive about many of the things that people are talking about, expressly lag and mob quantities which is something they need to balance with guildleves, as the whole idea of instanced mob guildleves(from someone who has read every press release from SE) was to combat mob camping and fighting over mobs that was prevalent in ff11. Thats why thy went with guildleves. So what they are going to decide to do now is; decrease the 48 hour restart for guildleves, increase the amount of guildeves you can do per 48 hours, or increase the amount of mobs that roam. I think the info they get from OB will play into their decisions.
I do wish there would be more of this mature debate and more understanding from both sides that we don't all have to like this game or learn to like it. Some of us just prefer a more traditional mmo.

I don't think its very mature, but ultimately who cares. I do think that like all of these beta testers; mechanics are not being fullly understood in a beta product and their issues are being QQ'd all over forums and bugsand lag are not being given the benefit of the doubt, all of which happens apparently to every new game. But I hardly think such preemptive disapointment is mature or deserving of "kudos". I think apprehension makes sense, and that can be resolved upon playing of a release of a full version.
But hey don't let me stop you from deciding based on a beta. Its your wallet/life.
I love snails. I love every kinda snail. I just want to hug them all, but I cant. Cant hug every snail.

Consider that, a Warning.

See orange above.
With that being said, I will still be purchasing this game basically due to the lack of other mmos for me to play right now. I'm hanging my hopes on the fact that the game will encourage community at some point which is what I'm looking for.
^^ Agree.
Once you play it you will understand jayanti. I sincerely felt the same way as you did until I got my hands on it.
you forgot to add
Why dont the mobs drops gear?
lol, na just kidding
but in all seriousness why do u have to wait 24 or 48 hours for ur levequest to be retaken after "failing" it
Its not like i failed it anyways,I just got a crit error on the client and boom, when i relog its "failed"
I do have to agree with this statement. If the client crashes or even if you do fail the quest for whatever reason, you should be able to re-do the quest without a cooldown.

Lots of good points Toddze, thanks.
This is your opinion and that fine by me but say this is a terrible game just because you dont like it is a little rash, and i cannot agree with you when you say most dont have play wow because in fact before wow most of people didnt know about mmo. Anyway for me SE always deliver what i expect from them.
