Newbie questions: Loot, gladiator guild, menu screen, and more.

1.Just gave the game a shot and had a few questions.  My primary class is going to be gladiator, but I picked the forest starting town.  I noticed there wasn't a gladiator guild there.  Is it recommended to start at the starting city that has it?

2.  When you kill a creature, can you loot them, or is it automatic?  If so, how?

3.  What is the keyboard key to go straight to the menu?

4.  Once you do the guildleves, can they be repeated?  Is this the primary method of questing?

5.  To change classes, you need to change weapons.  I imagine there is a place in each starting town to find these weapons to buy?

6.  Does your race and its corresponding attributed have a huge effect on the endgame?  Should I play one character as a fighter and then pay for a second slot to build a more magic oriented character?

7.  Does the archer class need to buy arrows?

8.  It seems like the quests are instance based and start at crystals.  What are the benefits then of exploring?

9.  What is anima and how is it replenished?

10.  Does it make sense to do the starting leves at each starting city or just stick to one area?

11.  The first crystal had a tome of info.  It said that every so often I could pray or something in order to get boosts to xp.  How does this work exactly?  Is this the experience reduction mechanic that caused a buzz?  Is there a way to keep track of current bonuses without going back to the crystal?

12.  The tome mentioned that when TP is maxed, you could unleash some skills for free.  I am guessing you do not get any to start with?

13.  "G" is mapped to battle skills or something.  I am guessing you get this later?

Thanks.

    No

Loot is automatic... for the most part.

It's added to a loot list and then given to you later.

This really comes into play when in a group.

    3.  What is the keyboard key to go straight to the menu?

    Home or Numpad Minus

    4.  Once you do the guildleves, can they be repeated?

Sorted. You can do 8 Regoinal (Combat and gathering) leves and 8 Local (crafting) leves everything 48 hours.

The leve you get are kinda random, and I hear they rotate, every few hours.

Is this the primary method of questing?

not sure... but due the 48 hour timer.. not likely.

Best to do yours with friends then do theirs, to maximise them.

    5.  To change classes, you need to change weapons.  I imagine there is a place in each starting town to find these weapons to buy?

Yea, Lisma is easy they all at Thundersqualls Thunderstick... Gridania not so much (Conjurery staff sold at the carpenters guild? Um OK)

    6.  Does your race and its corresponding attributed have a huge effect on the endgame?  Should I play one character as a fighter and then pay for a second slot to build a more magic oriented character?

    Nah to both

    7.  Does the archer class need to buy arrows?

    Yes

    8.  It seems like the quests are instance based and start at crystals.  What are the benefits then of exploring?

Only story quest are instance Leves are not.

    9.  What is anima and how is it replenished?

It a fast travel system.Let you teleport to Crystals you been too. You regain anima over time, 1 per 6 hours.

    10.  Does it make sense to do the starting leves at each starting city or just stick to one area?

    That is up to you.

    11.  The first crystal had a tome of info.  It said that every so often I could pray or something in order to get boosts to xp.  How does this work exactly?  Is this the experience reduction mechanic that caused a buzz?  Is there a way to keep track of current bonuses without going back to the crystal?

When you start a Leve you just ask if you what to use you Gaudian's Favor, you satrt with 200 and the leves I've done use 10. If you use it, you get a buff, for me it was a Skill Gain (Class Rank). If you die or after you complete the leve the buff goes away.

Not sure how you regain GF tho...

You won't see that Surplus/fatigue thing until you hit level 14.

    12.  Thanks!

"Only story quest are instance Leves are not."

The 4 starting quests said they have a 30 minute limit and start at the first outpost crystal.  I guess I will just have to try it and see.  Do they only initiate at the crystal?

Also, clarification again on the guilds... do you just need to eventually travel to them?  Is that why it doesn't really matter what starter city you begin at?

What are the benefits of using multiple character slots as opposed to just maxing each class on one character?
