Are you going to play at launch?

Alright so theres a bit of mixed feeling from what i gather on ffxiv  so this is just a simple poll of whether your gonna play at launch.

feel free to comment on why you are or arent going to play.

me: No- i was weary of the game after getting in beta then the surplus xp thing killed it, guess i gotta wait for rift or swtor :(

Fun Factor is what makes or breaks a game, if its not fun just play something else.

Yep I plan on playing it, how long I play it depends entirely on the people I play with I suppose.

I said yes.  I have been playing MMO's for a long time, I have no grand expectations other than how much enjoyment I get and I am enjoying myself.

edit..forgot to add that polls on here don't give a good picture. Even those who could care less hop on a hit a vote for no other reason the topple the real responses.

    Yes I will.

No, I wont be. I have tried it, and I got too fustrated, just like I did with FF Online.

Which is my failing, not the games failing! I have the same issue with other games from Asia. I want to love them, but my brain goes into "This is TOO complex! Panic!" mode and I quit lol.

    yes i will play

yes i am aware of the bugs and lack of controls for mouse atm

but i have no games atm to play and i love ff series so i won't mind playing while waiting for them to upgrade the game bit by bit.

thing is if u are those that want everything to run decently at launch it will be best not to play at launch and wait 1-2 months for them to get the game in shape ^^

  • DignaDigna Member UncommonPosts: 1,994

Yes. I will be playing. The mouse issue wil be a game breaker for me if they don't do something about it soon though. I would very much like to spend time in this game and see my character 'grow' again. Something I haven't done in an MMO for several years.

    Here's to hoping.

There's no way in hell i'll act as a paying Beta-Tester for a lazy company and i pity those of you who are actually willing to waste their time and money on this. I'll wait for the PS3-Release because that's clearly what Square had in mind for this game. Sad, but that's how it is. I would have dropped it like a hot potatoe as soon as cataclysm, Guild Wars 2 or Star Wars: TOR would arrive anyway, but now, i'd rather endure another 1-80 in wow, than playing this unfinished and unpolished heap of dung.

I said no, not because its a bad game or anything, I'm just not into PVE grinders anymore.  I"m looking for MMO's that are considerably different from the formula's we've followed in the past.

I guess specifically I'm looking for DAOC 2 with a bit of EVE tossed in.

This game isn't it, but I'm sure  to fans of this genre, it's going to be fun

I had planned on playing from release until Rift/GW2, but the game won't be complete for another 6 months in my eyes, so i see no point. I think i'll save 6 months worth of fees and pass the time another way. I'll absolutely be furious with myself if i cave and play out of boredom.

  • MikehaMikeha Member EpicPosts: 9,196

Nope I will not be playing it. I have Everquest 2 Extended to play and Lord Of The Rings soon to play so I am good till the real mmos come out next year.

Personally, I dislike the FF series. I have never enjoyed it. I am sure other people love this of game.

    Currently Play: ?
Occasionally Play: Champions, Pirates of the Burning Sea, WOW, EVE ONLINE

I was trying to find something worth to play while waiting for GW2 but ff14 is definitely not my cup of tea.

Plus that I dont like final fantasy lore enough to play just for story.

Japanese cant make good lore xD (except anime)

No, the FF games arnt something I enjoy. Waiting until spring and will continue with single player and tabletop games until then.

WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.

I'm tempted but I fall into the not sure about this game camp . Watching the mmo report today it appears you only get full experiance points for 8 hours a week then reduced xp for a further 7 hours then none . So does this make it an mmo thats only worth playing for 15 hours a week ? or are there other things to do when you cant gain anymore experiance that week ? This seams a rather prohibative and confusing policey if true .

It is a definite no,i see the same lazy trends and poor console game design i have seen over the last few years from Square.

I can get a much better version of a questing game in EQ2.GuildLeves are not done well, they are cumbersome for no reason and the usual boring quests you see in any game.

Square was even too lazy to add in tutorial text on a tutorial NPC,why even bother? All you see is 4x [en],wtf is [en]?

IMO this game is NOT in BETA stage it is not ready for Beta but is more like Alpha stage.

auto run+load map=crash.load one of the many cutscenes is quite possible a crash. At times i couldn't even open a door that others are walking through.I couldn't even attack a tutorial mob, took about 15 minutes before the game finally let me attack one, kept saying invalid target ,ya right.

Way too many loading scenes,it has the complete feel of FFXIII,linear paths, tons of CS's.The look is exactly like FFXII,pretty much the exact same setup.I wanted something similiar to the great design/setup of FFXI,this game is a throwback to console days. You still can't interact with anything outside that linear path, you are trapped from any freedom,no climbing over rocks or over railings,no jumping[we knew this]no entering water, just a console game 101,no improvement at all from FFXI,i actually find it to be worse.

ONLY good thing from this game is the graphics, well of course the custscenes are brilliant ,this is pretty much what i expected before the game was released and it is pretty much what i figured before i even entered the game.Peeve of mine is that even some of the normal NPC must load a scene and they don't have any voice over either ,just seems like way too much loading of screens.

No, I will play it eventually but not on release as much as I love FF games and FF11 I am having too much fun in LOTRO at the moment to quit and I do not have the time to play 2 mmorpg at the same time.

Not entirely true. You only get full xp for one job for x amount of time. However there are 2 sets of levels. Job level and physical level. So while leveling another job you still raise your physical level. Which is responsible for stat bonus per lvl which you can assign.

you get BONUS xp for 8 hours, then that reduces until you just get NORMAL xp for the rest of the time. You do not get 0 XP.

Square was even too lazy to add in tutorial text on a tutorial NPC,why even bother? All you see is 4x [en],wtf is [en]? There is probably no tutorial as there will be a manual that comes with the game (as with all the final fantasy games) - as far as I am aware there will not be any digital download. So there is no need for one.

IMO this game is NOT in BETA stage it is not ready for Beta but is more like Alpha stage.

Way too many loading scenes,it has the complete feel of FFXIII,linear paths Linear OMG what, I would class this more in the balpark of inbetween sandbox and themepark ,tons of CS's.The look is exactly like FFXII,pretty much the exact same setup.I wanted something similiar to the great design/setup of FFXI,this game is a throwback to console days. You still can't interact with anything outside that linear path, you are trapped from any freedom,no climbing over rocks or over railings,no jumping[we knew this]no entering water, just a console game 101,no improvement at all from FFXI,i actually find it to be worse. Yes I agree that its a console game running on PC, But I am wondering if you understand what linear means.

The only loading is the main quest line, teleporting and the odd couple of specific instances. From what I have played so far its a seemless world.

I hope you do not think that playing the open beta that you are playing the "finish product" by any means. Yes the open beta is a stress test but SE is holding back things. If you guys would have played during Closed beta you would realize all of the things that they added from just under a month, so quit pretending your are getting a free inside scoop to the whole game because your not even close.

As for the thread Yes I will be playing. It is shaping up to be a great game. I played during closed beta and I loved it.. All the people that are smack talking this game will be sorry in 2 or 3 months when they are so far behind us that decided to play at launch. This game is going to be worth the money. Awesome graphic, awesome storyline, cool classes, and fun combat and these are the things that should matter to you when you consider trying this game.

Sounds like you have one outdated computer, as I rarely get loading screens.
