As much as I wanted to love this game I can't see me paying for it. The controls for the PC and lack of content right now are my biggest concerns. I will wait and see if they have this miracle patch at release then decide then.
Yes. I will be playing. The mouse issue wil be a game breaker for me if they don't do something about it soon though. I would very much like to spend time in this game and see my character 'grow' again. Something I haven't done in an MMO for several years.
Here's to hoping.
The interface, and mainly the mouse is just unacceptable at this point. It feels more like I'm browsing for files in windows explorer than playing a game, and that combined with the insanely laggy mouse sucks all the fun out of the game. With a hack and slash warrior it's not quite as bad since you spend less time interacting with the UI menus. Harvesting needs to be simplified. You have to click the white icon, select a location, click chop, click to stop the swing, and repeat. Why can't all of this be in one menu in the same location? Why have a menu at all, just have the icon pop up in front of you. This breaks immersion.
The player models and graphics are great, but I'm quickly realizing that everyone looks the same. It reminds me of L2 a bit with only a few hair styles and faces. Nobody likes bumping into their clone.
I'm not giving up yet. I'll keep playing and hope they patch up the interface/mouse issues, as they are really the only deal-breaker for me atm. They are certainly getting enough feedback, and it all seems to be sending the same message.
I'm still debating it. I currently have the CE on pre-order. There is a lot about the game I really love, but I want to keep plaything through this week and see how well I can adapt to the interface and controls (which I think are horrid at the moment).
I'm realy on the fence. I really want a new MMO to play as i'm tired of everything else, but these asian created games scare the hell out of me for the simple fact that asians seems to LIKE mindless grinding. If that's the case in this game then no thanks, the combat is too slow and dull to spend time grinding. If this game had alot of story type quests yeah i'd play it. But i go to this games website and i'm trying to even figure out what it has. There's no feature list of what's in the game. Even playing the game i'm a little confused as to what exactly the point is.
don't have an issue with a slow mouse (apparently from i've read it is dependant on CPU speed) and got use to using the number pad for movement within an hour (though i much prefer using the regular arrow keys - left handed)
gonna see how the FTP LOTR pans out for me
definitely will not purchase on release
then alot depends on when GW2 is released and then there is Rift

You took the words right out of my mouth about all the issues I had. I am too not giving up, but I feel the game is overly complicated for doing something usually simply. I spend more times going through the ui and messing with the laggy mouse than actually playing my character.
Absolutely not. The only modern thing about the game is the graphics and animations (which I love btw). I start out and I see fixed paths and a map like a labyrinth...what am I playing, Crash Bandicoot? Don't get me wrong, I love the other final fantasy games. Well, I'm 20 and while I've only played FFVII, FFX and FFX-2 which are 3 of the most critically acclaimed games of the series, I did enjoy the hell outta them and are still 3 of my favorite games, but guess what; this is not going to work for an MMO especially in 2010 (mind you I've never played FFXI and I don't know anything about the game but I heard it was pretty successful and still is).
Well, I guess I'll stick with single-player as far as FF goes.
I'll definitely be planning to be there on launch day. I'm not expecting a smooth launch but will be pleasantly suprised if that happens. Some of the best games of our times had horrific launches like Diablo and WoW and look how those turned out. FFXIV will be a great game for a long time.

Ultimately, I wanted to play the game a little more than 4 hours in open beta, but got so frustrated from the interface and mouse lag that I wanted to smack my mouse on the monitor. Something else I noticed is that the game is too complex in some things that it really doesn't need to.
Well, I guess I'll stick with single-player as far as FF goes.
No way, no chance... I was really hoping it would be fun b/c I have been struggling to find a good mmo to occupy my time, but after trying it out...
I played several hours with keyboard+mouse, and several hours with controller. I found the game to be more work than play. It just wasn't fun at all due to it being too clunky.

I'm skipping this one. Between having to download the patches from an external site, the clunky UI, and the crashes I experienced upon entering any area with more than a couple npc's it's turned me off.
Yes, I reported the crashes. No, my system does not suck.
For those of you sticking with it, keep the faith. It has the makings to be a very compelling game, and I may come back to it 6 months down the road or so, as I'm sure many others might.
Have fun! If it's fun for you the rest of our opinions don't really matter.
Alright so theres a bit of mixed feeling from what i gather on ffxiv so this is just a simple poll of whether your gonna play at launch.
feel free to comment on why you are or arent going to play.
me: No- i was weary of the game after getting in beta then the surplus xp thing killed it, guess i gotta wait for rift or swtor
No and yes. No I'm not going to be there day one for the PC launch. Yes I'll be there day one for the PS3 launch. And this is when SE will take the console market by storm. PS3 has penetrated the market with 21 million units sold world-wide and I think it's a sound strategy to concentrate on a market that isn't ever over tapped like PC is with 100s of MMO choices.

If it magically gets fixed then yeah, but that wont happen.
I plan on playing it at release. I pre-ordered my Collector's Edition.

Nope im not playing
Holding this one out I think.

No.
This game is remarkably and beautifully out dated.
The archaic user interface sealed the deal for me, not playing at launch.
Absolutely.
I will be sticking with my CE Pre-order.
I've never played any FF game online or offline so my whole experience is based purely on what I've played so far in OB and I really like it.
