Am i f*cked and need to get a new acc?

NithirNithir Member UncommonPosts: 74

Got my WotLK copy by mail yesterday, when i tried to login to my account, it doesn't seem to exist, i could swear i merged it with my battle.net accountback when it was opened.

But it's not connected to my battle.net account, can'tfind it in the list, andwhen i try to login on the WoW site it just gives me the doesn't exist message.

i searched my email for old blizzard mails to see if i could find my account info, and i found i have gotten this about a year ago.

Greetings,

An investigation of your World of Warcraft account has found strong evidence that the account in question is being sold or traded.

As you may not be aware of, this conflicts with Blizzard's EULA under section 4 Paragraph B which can be found here:

WoW -> Legal -> End User License Agreement

and Section 8 of the Terms of Use found here:

WoW -> Legal -> Terms of Use

The investigation will be continued by Blizzard administration to determine the action to be taken against your account.

If your account is found violating the EULA and Terms of Use, your account can, and will be suspended/closed/or terminated.

In order to keep this from occurring, you should immediately verify that you are the original owner of the account.

Guess i'm f*cked eh? and need a new account.

It's a shame if this is the case, mostly cus i hate to rebuy games.

I don't really mind though, i'd start over on a enw server when cata arrives anyway, just want to make sure my account is really gone before buy a new game.

Tried Email support, but all email webfrosm want me to include my account name or email for the account, which i have neither. I can't call em since i go tno working phone at the time.

If it tells you to go to a link to login, its a phishing email.  If you actually went and logged in, go to battle.net and change your password.  Now.

Yeah it's from a year ago and the mail is legit, i'm just not sure what happend, since i would probably have verified my account with blizzard when i got it, and i'm also certain i regged the wow account to my battle.net acc. But seems i didn't hence why it's gone now, due to me not confirming the account was mine.

Do not click the links in this email, Do not even reply to it.

If you have already done so, Delete all your internet history, cookies, temporary internet files, ect.

This looks like a scam email to get your account info instead go to.

www.worldofwarcraft.com Login to your account, and see if it says its suspended, or banned, if it is not you are fine.

They attempt to scam people like this all the time. If your account has been suspended/banned it will say so on there, and then you simply contact blizzard by phone if you have done nothing. I get these type of scam emails all the time, because everyone wants my level 70s, and Also buy a Blizzard Authinticator they help a lot.

Is this the full email btw, because usually it contains other links as well which are scams, and also the links have a certain code hidden in them.

If you cannot get into your account still Call Blizzard, and ask them about it. I got my account back twice after these type of issues.

Email looks legit. Links point to worldofwarcraft.com

If you can't access your account, you're probably screwed. Try your old account name to see if it wasn't merged.

You should always ignore emails from blizzard that tell you to log in.

Just go to www.worldofwarcraft.com, and log in there (Sigh), and you can find out what you need to know..

    Derrr.

I had gotten this exact same email. It's legit. They see either very many IPs logging into from different locations (they usually allow 1-2 IPs max per account) or if the characters are being used to farm/sell gold they'll close it.

I repeat again: the email is legit. Exact same thing happened to my old traded account (bought it from someone, stupid I know).

The best you can do is just call Blizzard.

The easiest way to tell if an e-mail is a scam or not is to use the full headers option. You can find it in any e-mail service (in Yahoo, it is in the lower right, under the e-mail's text section). Click on the Full Headers option, and it will show you the actual originating e-mail address. Most of the phishing e-mails will have valid links to Blizzard's EULA/ToS pages, along with the fake link. They also all spoof the originating e-mail address to make it look like it came from Blizzard.

If you use the full headers option and do find that it is a scam e-mail, then highlight all the text in the fully shown header, forward the e-mail, paste in the copied header information, and send the e-mail to hacks@blizzard.com

Thanks, at least some of you actually read the whole post. =)

Anyway yeah, it's not working, and i can't call as i said i got no phone at the time. Considering all this happend over a year ago, i have no doubt that it's way to late to do anything about this.

Don't be so sure of that; Blizzard (from what I have heard) is pretty good at restoring accounts, even ones that have been inactive. If you have tried logging in to your account and can't do so, send an e-mail explaining everything to Blizzard's support e-mail address; they may be able to help you. Remember that they have logs of pretty much everything, so they should be able to go back and see what you had and such (just remember to tell them the approximate date you quit).

In regards to my previous post on checking the full headers, apparently that is no longer as safe as it used to be: Yesterday I recieved one of those 'Blizzard Account' services e-mails, and checked the full headers; everything in the full headers pointed back to Blizzard. The only thing remotely suspect in the text of the e-mail was that it was claiming that my account had been frozen due to them detecting the account being used by multiple computers.

The thing is, Blizzard doesn't give a damn about you having the WoW client installed on multiple computers unless you are sharing an account, and simply logging in from different computers at different times wouldn't set off any warning bells. You would need to have one account being run nearly continuously, by one computer and then another (etc.), to raise any flags.

I didn't touch the links provided (NEVER do that, with any game) and went straight to WoW's homepage and logged in. Sure enough, the e-mail was pure b.s. Have to give the phishers credit though; that was the best phishing attempt I had seen yet from them.
